The reason for the contract is that Celestia knew that the Archon's would be exposed to forbidden knowledge during the fight with khaenri'ah. The contract was was made to prevent Celestia from having to kill the Archon's afterward.
can you elaborate on this? im curious what you mean by this. I get celestia probably reasoned the archons would encounter forbidden knowledge, but how did the contracts change anything?
I think it has something to do with the archons and the need to have human followers to gain power if they have to have human followers then they means they have to love humans and Celestia knew that eventually they would find out about forbidden knowledge and that the archons would want to save humanity. So the contract would be fell safe to make sure that the archons could not save the humans that They naturally loved. Why would Celestia kill the humanity that they also love well the samsara cycles. I think they need to recycle all of the energy that is within the firmament and that would mean having to reboot everyone and everything because forbidden knowledge would be corrupting it continually almost like having to clean out a fish tank eventually it's going to accumulate waste and you're going to have to clean out the fish tank so that the fish can live their best lives. It would make sense that they archons wouldn't be okay with everyone in their nation getting cltr alt deleted just so they could powerwash teyvat of abyss build up.
I'm speculating that it has something to do with erosion, we know Zhongli has been around for a long time. Maybe he agreed to help and remain silent in exchange for keeping memories of a precious one or something. Maybe it's a samsara cycle and he can remember someone from last cycle or something.
About the contract that Zhongli signed, I think it is somehow related to all the knowledge that Archons have, and which they aren't allowed to share with the Traveler. Such as how Visions are distributed. Perhaps the contract provides Archons with that knowledge, while at the same time demanding that they do not share it further. And somehow, the events in Kaenri'ah fall into the category covered by that contract. At least this way, Archons would not need to negotiate a contract as Kaenri'ah is burning. Finally, a word on the Sustainer cubes sent to Kaenri'ah. I wonder if they're actually more like rescue boats, carrying people of Kaenri'ah out of the disaster zone. I mean, they did not kill the Traveler or the Sibling. And they don't seem to be hurled as projectiles, but moving in an orderly fashion.
ur not wrong about the cubes. i read a wonderful analogy recently that went something like "if you see puddles at a burnt house, do you assume it was water that did the damage?"
The deleted Zhongli's voiceline about Celestia where he sounds like a college student away from his hometown makes me wonder what relations does he have to Celestia.

It's likely the case that Zhonli signed a contract, as part of him obtaining the Gnosis, to protect Celestia and keep silent about its secrets. Or something to that extent. I don't think it was specific to Khaen'riah, as forbidden knowledge was a problem in Teyvat for a significantly longer period of time than just there. Also, I've read somewhere that the area we were in at the beginning of the game was *NOT* Celestia... that was the Celestial Atlas, an area that acts as a sort of intermediary between Teyvat and other worlds. You see this same area in the loading screen. Allegedly it's outside the Firmament.
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia - I refer to "intermediary" in the sense that there's bound to be *something* between the Firmament that protects Teyvat and the rest of reality. It's like they shoved Teyvat into a massive glass ball. There's still air around the ball, it's not untouchable.
I do think it's curious how the twins were supposedly summon by Khaenri'ah, and they were supposed to benefit the nation in some way, but when they tried to leave Teyvat during the cataclysm, it was Celestia who stopped them. Like, couldn’t the sustainer have just let them leave??? There's definitely something important there but I'm not smart enough to figure it out
It is so interesting that no one accept Scaramouche can give the Traveler any information about their sibling. Of course Pierro the Jester, told Scaramouche about the Travelers sibling living with him prior to the fall of Khaenri’ah and the cataclysm. This was before Pierro become the Jester and created the Fatui. Dainslief spouts poetry, but gives erosin as his excuse for not being able to help the traveler. Venti greets the Traveler, again, then when the Traveler expresses surprise and no memory of Venti, he laughs and backs off. Zhongli is tied up in this contract to someone or something and to continue his comfortable, quiet life, will not suffer the wrath of the rock. Pitiful that everyone wants the Traveler’s help, but no one is willing or able to help the Traveler.
PLOT TWIST: The Archons weren't summoned by Celestia to -destroy- Khaenriah, they were -convinced- to go there to -help- them. They helped break Silver, also known as the 2nd to last of the 4 stages of Alchemy, also known as PAIMON, into the Gnoses, in order to create the Traveler, whom Albedo was a prototype for, and give him/her a reason to travel Teyvat and RE-COLLECT the Gnoses, slowly unraveling and learning the Truth of this world. That Celesia isn't what they seem, may not have ever existed at all except in the form of a lie, and Teyvat belongs to the Dragons.
I’m impressed by the amount of videos that you have made involving the heavenly principles and the primordial one, a progenitor god hailing from beyond the stars considering the lack of lore about them. Great video as always.
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia Can’t argue with that. Especially since “The Primordial One, a progenitor god hailing from beyond the stars” is essentially your catchphrase lol. Zhongli is so funny in Liyue part 2 if you know his identity lmao. He’s setting up a funeral for himself lol.
Oh, you're black thank god lmao. The fact we don't ask Venti anything is super irritating. Like watching a movie where everything could be fixed if people would have one fucking conversation, but you're forced to watch everyone being excruciatingly dumb until the very last minute. The way Zhongli says "before it *all* began" sounds more to me like before the ordering of the world. It's an assumption, but if he were talking about Khaenri'ah specifically, I'd expect to hear him say "before the Cataclysm began" or "the war" or something. About Celestia being empty - there was a moment in Chenyu Vale that stuck out to me. In the middle of the quest where we repair the tea pot in the village? We ask the person why it needs to be repaired, or why it broke down or something, and the person replies that _Anything left alone for ages will eventually break down and stop functioning_ (paraphrased). And I dunno why but it sounded to me like they were talking about something else. Like it was the writers' clue to think about other, larger systems left alone for ages. And Genshin, especially lately, loves to do this sort of storytelling where a smaller story reflects the larger story going on, I can't help but think that was deliberate.
ahaha yes i am. the thing about celestia makes me wonder though, if no one is up there then what is even its purpose? If teyvat can operate perfectly line like it is rn then what does celestia even do lmfao
Man 0:11 that wink kills me everytime ahahaha. You are such a freakin legend man. I'm really looking forward to see your Khaenri'ah theories when 4.6 or 4.7 released. Don't wanna spoil anything for anyone but I think Dainsleif is around the corner or somewhere we can't access. (for now but we will soon :d)
Zhongli said that he signed that contract (most likely with celestia) "before it all began", that could be reffering to before he officially became Liyue's archon, if that is true then could what he gained in exchange be his gnosis? As it could be of equal value??
they made them have *A Progenitor Orgy Hailing From Beyond The Stars* it was so extreme that they were all marked for life Venti became an alcoholic and even relapsed after having a 500 years intervention Zhongli signed a non disclosure agreement as a way to cope and never bring up the situation again Makoto literally died (prolly from Zhongli's pilar) Murata started a war in her country *its still going* Focalors made herself a new body (probably felt too dirty) and Tsaritsa outright choose rebelion me the nonsense Archon was only sad i couldn't see the sustainer in action
Easiest real world explanation: blanket NDA covering everything you do for the company before you accept your job that extends for X years after you employment ends. Super common IRL and industry best practices transfers to Teyvat. And what did he receive? The gnosis/his position. It does not have to be complicated.
I prefer to think about that final question from the other way around. That is to say, how much value does Celestia place in the twins that Princess either A) Was willing to put the cataclysm matter on hold for a few minutes to intercept them or B) As you said, was willing to leave in the middle of the cataclysm to stop them.
this is a good point. adding onto this, lets not forget, the sustainer knew they were both outlanders, AND that they were on a journey. So they were clearly aware of them for some time
Here's the thing tho... I don't think that place at the beginning cutscene is Celestia at all. If you get a good look at the island in the sky, it doesn't resemble this place in any way; it's round, has buildings, tower, etc. and it doesn't look anything like the place Vennesa reached when she ascended in the manga. Also, the twins had no intentions of going to Celestia, they just wanted to dip. IMO, his place is more of a platform to make the jump out of this world. BTW, this place is physically over Mondtstat, there are folks who have reached it that have videos on it. I'm aware of the inscription on Venti's statue, but that bridge could still be like Bifrost (in Norse mythology). I mean, we walk thru it until we reach a door to enter this world when we log in to the game, so it can be just outside it, but still somewhat part of it.
I don't know if you watched a certain video of that Wei guy that extrapolates theories within genshin lore and game inputs, it's titled something like: zhongli been hiding this secret for two years...
The theory that the Heavenly Principles are just incredibly incompetent leaders is one of my favorites. My Name For Now's most recent and ridiculously long video proposes a theory that might support this idea... If you know, you know. Primordial One stuff and all that. Anyways, I think Celestia is supposed to guide humanity to enlightenment, but they really don't have a clue how to do it and they probably also don't understand the damage they've done. Or they do, and they're panicking up there trying to fix things and ended up letting the archons do their own thing without interference as a result. That's a funny visual... A) "Gods above, we fucked up! We gotta do something!" B) "We ARE the gods, what are you saying bro-" and then someone accidentally drops another Celestial Nail. C) "There goes the rainforest. Look what you've done now!" A) "Shut up I swear to God-" B) "...and you did it again. At least think before you use our names in vain." A) "I do NOT care, I'm doing it anyway! D) "Can someone please figure out a way to fix this damn planet before another one of you does something stupid?" A) "You know what? Maybe Rex Lapis had the right idea. I quit!" B, C, D) "You're a Shade, you literally can't quit your job you idiot-" Something catches their attention and they look down, only to see that the Cryo Archon has collected another Gnosis. A, B, C, D) "..." D) "Well, fuck." Also, if the Heavenly Principles really are incompetent, then it's probably not the original Primordial One who's up there leading things. It's more likely to be the Second Who Came.
It's actually been confirmed by Neuvilette's character bio (with high enough friendship) that the Second Who Came lost the war. "Severely wounded in the great war of vengeance, the usurper had their functions ruined, and could no longer use their absolute authority to suppress the original order of this world. To continue to subdue and control the resentments and loathing of the world, the usurper and one who came after created the Gnoses together. So it came to be that an order was made to be upheld, and thus did humans come to only possess these seven remembrances, and all fragments of the primordial were driven to devour each other. " This also suggests that the very creation of the Gnoses is what triggered the Archon War. It also seems to suggest that the gods involved (who became the Archons eventually) might be fragments of the Primordial One? Surely Neuvilette isn't being so literal here....
@@DrakeWurrum That's fascinating, but it could also serve as evidence that the original Primordial One is gone. They are referred to as the Usurper on many occasions. Maybe it's so vague on which of the two lost the war on purpose because the Second Who Came is trying to hide the fact that they're in control now. This doesn't discredit your idea, it's just a suggestion for an alternative perspective on this text. Also, the theory that the archons are fragments of the Primordial One is interesting and could provide an answer as to where the Primordial One went after they lost. Oh, and the reason why the Primordial One is referred to as the Usurper is because they are the one who took over Teyvat when it was still ruled by dragons.
@@catdownthestreet - There's no vagueness whatsoever in Neuvilette's character bio. The Primordial One, a.k.a. the Usurper, was victorious, but greatly weakened.
Alice who live through the cataclysm and a friend to Gold who is to said is cause of the cataclysm: Sign this contract or I'll nuke your nation!!! Morax: Yes ma'am.
Hmm... This is a speculation. But, if our sibling is the Princess/Prince. Then there's a possibility the Abyss has a King or Queen. Do y'all think Morax made a deal with them. So they don't harm the surface of Teyvat. But, as all contracts are it has its limits. I wonder if that's why the Unknown God sent our sibling to the Abyss like a spy for her. While the other sibling takes care of the problems in Teyvat. Just to prevent what happened 500 yrs ago. The Cataclysm that almost swallowed Teyvat.
wait, people literally dont think youre black? but you definitely sound black. maybe not "traditional", but i can definitely hear it, and thank you for finally confirming it for me xD. some people tho x,D
i should also preface, i have a black friend we call "whitie", because he ACTS white. dont talk white, but certainly acts white, and he dont give a fck, lol
it's usually which white which is associated with the good guys and black with the bad guys. Even though black people can be nice we automatickly think of someone as white whom we see as a good person cause the it's white which reminds us of that person. Due that reason many may have actually thought someone as such as yourself as white.
I mean...I know this is a serious conversation but let's all be for real: That "contract" is just hoyoverse being aware that they couldn't continue the mistery if the traveler were to ask someone who remembers everything since 6000 years ago lol Now, I don't think the contract was about Khaenriah specifically. Maybe, it was about forbidden knowledge, since we know there were incidents regarding it before(? Idk, I firmly believe in my initial theory 🤣 And abt the Sustainer going after us while the world was ending...It makes me think that the sibling was heavily involved in the cataclysm. The sustainer even says something about the arrogance of the humans and stuff when she fights them
But what if the second party of Zhongli's contract was Nicole. I mean she sees the future and she was able to give us intel during the archon quests in the past. Maybe she made Zhongli sign the contract kinda like Furina and Focalors, Furina had no choice but to stay silent for all those years otherwise the prophecy would come true, could it be something similar perhaps? Or maybe it was with our sibling, she already traveled this world so it would be impossible for Zhongli and Venti to not have met them, maybe when the Khaenri'ah was being destroyed she seek help but because of the Archon ties with Celestia they could help, but somehow the archons were aware of what celestia truly is, I mean they're pretty old, they sure know the tea by now. And because we're still "unconcious", our sibling made a deal with them to not say to us that they met them because we need to see with our own eyes the truth and that's why when we finally meet them they say that we need reach the end of the journey, to see this truth with our own eyes because we're the last piece of the puzzle to knock down Celestia for good. I mean it kinda make sense.
you bring up an interesting point regarding our sibilings relationships with the gods. However Im curious if u change ur mind when reminded our sibilings journey took place some 400-500 years ago.
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia What do you mean by change my mind? They surely in some shape or form had somekind of relationship with the gods. If they already traveled this world maybe searching for us like we do now, they met the Archons. Our sibling's journey started in Khaenri'ah 400-500 years ago as you said and as far as we know, because she traveled with Dainslief and we don't know much of what happened with our sibling(other than the war in Khaenri'ah ofc) from when our sibling started the journey until we woke up. Now I don't remember exactly if they started before or after the Khaenri'ah war, like when it started or when was almost over. But that makes me think, we have the choice to play as one of the siblings and they coexist in the same timeline, what if the whole point that we can play as one of them is to give some sort of point of view about our sibling's journey? Like we got some bits and pieces of what they did and we have to put the pieces back together with what we've experienced so far. Also they assisted some part of the war or all of it I don't remember, they know what Celestia is capable of. Knowing that, the theory of them being behind two of the OG Archons not being able to speak about what happened it's not that far off. We are getting like one quest every new Region about our sibling like we're travelling at the same time just in a parallel universe, which is also what kinda happens when you choose which sibling you want to play as, the have the same journey. Sorry I know it's not really related but with theories my mind just travels at lightspeed and I just wanted to say this. Love theories and love yours too
aw thanks lol :D what i meant to say was 500 years ago, the status of the archons was may have been different then it was now. Venti for instance (i believe) awoke several months before the start of the game to deal with stormterror, but usually hes just in a deep sleep. Zhongli had just retired right when we came to liyue which gave us plenty of time to become acquainted with him. But prior to that he was appearing once a year in liyue. Now granted his Zhongli vessel may have been around given Zhongli was the one who guided Alice in liyue. Ei was in the plane of euthymia. Nahida was locked up. Focalors was in the oratrice. So what I mean to ask is when could our sibiling have met any of the above archons?
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia I don't think they met the Archons we know, didn't most of them got replaced after the Khaenri'ah war because the previous ones died? Venti I know he may have not been around, I didn't know about daddy Zhongli's retirement, but he was still around and for my theory to be valid our siblig must have met him. But I think they ecountered the previous Archons also like Makoto, Grater Lord Rukkadevata, Egeria, which is why most of the newer Archons that we've ecounterrd so far don't know anything about our sibling, even Ei said that she wasn't around at that time. If you think about it we've never asked any of the previous Archons about our sibling. Makoto's conciousness was there and we didn't say a thing, same with Rukkadevata.
Joke? No that was serious. When does Zhongli's contract get signed? If it's prior to the Cataclysm the only other date that sticks out is his becoming an Archon. Also presumably other Archons live by the same rules. Again, you mentioned there must have been some benefit to signing on to the contract. Becoming an Archon, since it is seen as some sort of prize, could be that benefit. In short when you join the Archons you must not talk about Archon stuff. I was just trying to be concise when I referred to another group in popular culture that had similar rules. Wait-- was I funny?@@DawitsLookingforEmilia
I’m sorry I just started the video but why does the first picture of “the primordial one, a progenitor god hailing from beyond the stars” remind me of Patrick from SpongeBob???
The contract was made before it began, so before the cataclysm. And the first thing that the travellers experienced when landing in Teyvat was the cataclysm... I think its stated on their character story...
Or a Shade... The artifact categories represent the four shades and the Primordial one. The Goblet of Eonothem refers to a strate with uninterrupted layers over an eon (kind of a history record of the Earth). Zhongli has a five-fold Celtic symbol on his back, which refers to four Cardinal directions / main elements / moon phases and what binds them together in the middle. And Zhongli has lots of sun references (the four shades could also be the moon sisters and the sun). When he creates his shield, at his hands, he has similar square-like things to the Sustainer's when she stops us. He also has decorations on his shield, which are resembling the cubes of the Sustainer. His eyes are similar to her's, too, and he cannot change those even when he changes form. The sun chariot fell close to Liyue and Mora have tricetra on them. His statue is the only one holding a square... And he called himself a god of mankind, while no other archon did. The PO created the humans with the shades. But he is for sure a descender. Of course, the shades are the PO's copies, so they could be considered descenders, too... Or he could be the defeated primordial one, who was demoted after he lost, and was sworn to secrecy about the change. ... God, I will go nuts before we get to know! It bugs me more than any other secret of this game....

Allegedly it's outside the Firmament.
why would teyvat have an intermediary between itself and other worlds if its shut itself off completely from other worlds
@@DawitsLookingforEmilia - I refer to "intermediary" in the sense that there's bound to be *something* between the Firmament that protects Teyvat and the rest of reality.
It's like they shoved Teyvat into a massive glass ball. There's still air around the ball, it's not untouchable.
made it a whole whopping eleven seconds before mentioning the PRIMORDIAL ONE - A PROGENITOR GOD HAILING FROM BEYOND THE STARS - good on you ,mate.
HAHAHA
I do think it's curious how the twins were supposedly summon by Khaenri'ah, and they were supposed to benefit the nation in some way, but when they tried to leave Teyvat during the cataclysm, it was Celestia who stopped them. Like, couldn’t the sustainer have just let them leave??? There's definitely something important there but I'm not smart enough to figure it out
scar did add that the "heavens responded to the summoning" whatever that entails however, isnt really known
Maybe he just uses it as an excuse because he has a hand in all of this 😂

PLOT TWIST: The Archons weren't summoned by Celestia to -destroy- Khaenriah, they were -convinced- to go there to -help- them. They helped break Silver, also known as the 2nd to last of the 4 stages of Alchemy, also known as PAIMON, into the Gnoses, in order to create the Traveler, whom Albedo was a prototype for, and give him/her a reason to travel Teyvat and RE-COLLECT the Gnoses, slowly unraveling and learning the Truth of this world. That Celesia isn't what they seem, may not have ever existed at all except in the form of a lie, and Teyvat belongs to the Dragons.
i mean clearly they did something to make everyone from khaenriah to hate them. its not like they came and just gave food and water

@@DawitsLookingforEmilia Can’t argue with that. Especially since “The Primordial One, a progenitor god hailing from beyond the stars” is essentially your catchphrase lol. Also your videos got me to restart playing genshin on a new account for the first time in quite a while as I have time now and well I got kinda hooked lmao so thanks cause it’s fun.

Zhongli said that he signed that contract (most likely with celestia) "before it all began", that could be reffering to before he officially became Liyue's archon, if that is true then could what he gained in exchange be his gnosis? As it could be of equal value??

Focalors made herself a new body (probably felt too dirty)

Easiest real world explanation: blanket NDA covering everything you do for the company before you accept your job that extends for X years after you employment ends. Super common IRL and industry best practices transfers to Teyvat. And what did he receive? The gnosis/his position. It does not have to be complicated.
he recieved his gnosis and position ages before khaenriah though
I mean, we walk thru it until we reach a door to enter this world when we log in to the game, so it can be just outside it, but still somewhat part of it.
do u think the door when u boot up the game is celestia?

LMFAO BRO WHAT
The theory that the Heavenly Principles are just incredibly incompetent leaders is one of my favorites.
We gotta do something!"
B) "We ARE the gods, what are you saying bro-"
and then someone accidentally drops another Celestial Nail.
C) "There goes the rainforest. Look what you've done now!"
A) "Shut up I swear to God-"
B) "...and you did it again. At least think before you use our names in vain."
A) "I do NOT care, I'm doing it anyway!
D) "Can someone please figure out a way to fix this damn planet before another one of you does something stupid?"
A) "You know what? Maybe Rex Lapis had the right idea. I quit!"
B, C, D) "You're a Shade, you literally can't quit your job you idiot-"
Something catches their attention and they look down, only to see that the Cryo Archon has collected another Gnosis.
A, B, C, D) "..."
D) "Well, fuck."
Also, if the Heavenly Principles really are incompetent, then it's probably not the original Primordial One who's up there leading things. It's more likely to be the Second Who Came.
AHAHAHAHAAH THE VISUAL
It's actually been confirmed by Neuvilette's character bio (with high enough friendship) that the Second Who Came lost the war.
"Severely wounded in the great war of vengeance, the usurper had their functions ruined, and could no longer use their absolute authority to suppress the original order of this world. To continue to subdue and control the resentments and loathing of the world, the usurper and one who came after created the Gnoses together. So it came to be that an order was made to be upheld, and thus did humans come to only possess these seven remembrances, and all fragments of the primordial were driven to devour each other. "
This also suggests that the very creation of the Gnoses is what triggered the Archon War.
The Primordial One, a.k.a. the Usurper, was victorious, but greatly weakened.

it's usually which white which is associated with the good guys and black with the bad guys. I mean...I know this is a serious conversation but let's all be for real: That "contract" is just hoyoverse being aware that they couldn't continue the mistery if the traveler were to ask someone who remembers everything since 6000 years ago lol
Now, I don't think the contract was about Khaenriah specifically.

10:44 I agree she’s amazing 💫
Love theories and love yours too
aw thanks lol :D
what i meant to say was 500 years ago, the status of the archons was may have been different then it was now.
The first rule of Archon Club is... don't talk about Archon Club!
oh my god david johnson telling a joke, ive seen it all
I was just trying to be concise when I referred to another group in popular culture that had similar rules.

zhongli is the 2nd descender
