I used to have a 1987 Ranger diesel. Went to 84 Lumber to pick up some 2x4`s and the guy picking stock asked me if I ever checked the oil because the engine was knocking. He didn`t know it was a diesel. Needed something bigger so I boiught a 1989 F-150 4wd and sold the diesel to a frinnd of mine
Idk if you found one or not but i used the one out of my 90 ranger with the 2.3 gas. Need different u clips for the top of the rad but the bottom hose from the gasser goes right on the water pump and i cut 2 hoses for the top one to work with an adapter that has a fitting for a temp gauge. Hope that helps
Where did you find the trucks trying to find a diesel one, I have a gas which gonna be trying to swap it but finding a already diese one would be awesome
Look for 4d56 parts, the engines use the same block and Mitsubishi only stopped 4d56 production in 2016 You can head gaskets, journal bearings, rods, pistons, rings, valves just about everything brand new still just make sure when you are ordering parts for 4d56t order for a gen 1 (1986 up to 1991 4d56t = gen 1) The heads on both engines also swap, and a gen one head, or even better, a gen 2 head with roller rockers is a great power increase. I would make sure to also buy a 4b56 wastegate when you do this which is better. There are a lot of forums on this engine being used in the Pajero (4b56) overseas. Just beware the higher into the 1990s you go, the more computerized the 4b56 becomes. I'm not aware of any block differences regardless of the year between a 55 and 56

Amazing job! Hows it running to this day?
I hava a 83 Ford Ranger, but im from México, where you bougth your parts ??
I got a 1985 diesel ranger but it didn’t come with the tach. Got any extra you would sell? Or do you know where you can still get them?
I don’t have an extra, but I’ve seen a few pop up for sale in the past on eBay and in the 83-87 Diesel Rangers FB group. Good luck!
Where did you find a new turbo? I need one for my 85 and i’m not having much luck
Any chance at a new video in the upcoming months
Yo what kind of turbo manifold is that
It’s the stock Mitsubishi turbo manifold, though the inlet was cut off and clocked for the intercooler
Where did you get the kit to rebuild the injector pump? Part number?
I got it from jbass195 on eBay. If you send him the numbers on your pump, he can get you the correct rebuild kit(for less than $30)

A friend of mine happened to be selling it; I didn’t even know they existed until I bought one
I’m currently rebuilding my 4d55t as well man and I got a lot of questions you could possibly answer for me. Do you have an Instagram?
I don’t have an insta and kind of forgot this video existed; having any luck with the old 4d55t?
