    I love "Rope" as much as I love pizza - and that, my friend, is a lot! 🙂

    "Wow, a film that is actually older than you!" - My kids when I can't shut up about how good '12 Angry Men' is

      12 Angry men is ummmm... It's on my list for this channel... And yeah children are so cruel sometimes (jk ofc). My nephew once said "wow uncle you have a grey hair on the back of your neck" and then I smiled in quiet desperation... Truly, cruelty that knows no bounds :D. Again, I'm joking ofc!

    If Hitchcock could have shot the entire movie in one take, he would have. However, he did everything he could to make it look like it was shot in one take, with clever transitions more or less at the end of the longest film reel that was available at the time. If I remember correctly, I think it was actually shot in four or five takes. Brilliant movie.

      Indeed it was my dear viewer and not only that BUT there's an actual shot where a crew member's foot gets run over by a camera wheel and they left the shot in, WHILE dragging away the crew member AND holding his mouth closed...

      I think I remember them saying the reels are around 8 mins. or so. What ever the total run time divided by 8 or less, to make sure you didn't run out of film before they went to the "transition" shot where they froze on something, would be the number of reels. You can tell the transitions usually, I remember they froze on a plate on the table in one shot.

      @@WilliamMcDougald-pm3fq Yeah, you can notice some. For example there's a closeup to Brandon's shoulders and back that's so close it blots out the rest of the light and then immediately the next dialogue starts, so I'm guessing that's one.

      @SEVERELYUNDERRATED I remember the back shot, now that you mention it.

    So one of the most lauded films by one of the most lauded directors that is in many top 100 lists is somehow underrated? Do you even know what that word means?

    • @SEVERELYUNDERRATED
      @SEVERELYUNDERRATED  3 месяца назад +3

      Well yeah! Mostly because it was shot back in 1948 with as few shots as possible and for its originality, meaning, that in most thrillers you try to look for the killer BUT in "Rope" you know from the start and you're still watching in suspense to see how things will play out till the very end. Something that was very rare in crime thrillers or even entirely original. Still though, thanks for the input and the comment man! I appreciate it!

    Too gay and stagey for my taste. And Stewart was miscast.
