For the best traditional Goan desserts and scrumptious savoury treats, locals swear by Mr. Baker, a 100-year-old institution that remains steadfast to its culinary roots. I met with third generation owner, Nenette Fernandes, over a leisurely tasting of bebinca, battica, risoi, croquettes, the sort of baked wares that even her grandfather, Mr. Pedro Vincent Vaz who founded the bakery, would recognise if he were around today. I also discovered a delicious surprise in the Niro, a refreshing cashew juice that took me back to memories from my childhood. Hope you enjoy this short and mostly sweet episode. Take care; stay safe and strong. Happy eating!

@Food Lovers TV, even though it's your personal choice, being a hindu, I didn't appreciate you eating beef at the eatery. Lost respect and a subscriber.
@@ram-rb6vg even though it's your personal choice to comment.....I dint appreciate your comment
This must be one of your most special visits you've ever made. The Cashew juice took you back to your Grandfather's house and the Rum Balls reminded you of your Father. To find out that this family made his favourite Rum is amazing. Food has the ability to bring back happy memories of our loved ones and our childhood's.
I had a similar experience in Spain, I ordered some fried eggs in a cafe and they had been deep fried just like my Father used to do them. When I bit into the brown, crispy edge of those eggs, I almost had a tear in my eye. It took me back 25 years and 1000 miles to my home, and happy days.
Very true, David, I can imagine what you must have felt when you but into the crispy edge of the eggs. Food has this very special ability to transport us to happy times from days gone by. Happy eating!
Bites ,coupled with poetic expressions. How did I miss Mr Baker in Panjim, despite over 10 times visitations to Goa, the paradise? There's always a next time.
Same here, never gave it a thought
People tend to miss such small eateries as they don't advertise themselves.
As much as I love Mr. Kripal, this episode belongs to Ms. Ninette, a very humble, graceful and knowledgeable host. Best wishes 🙏
Been here before lockdown 2020....one of the best bakers for traditional recipes.... Their interior is still vintage and vibey when you sit and enjoy thier delicacy
Damn the conversation.. The spark in the eyes when both of you were discussing about the small details (egg used, rum used) that are used to make the dishes,as one likes to discuss these details with someone who really knows their food ... Also the childhood stories that you added really great video
*Delicacies melt Heart, mouth and eyes too* 😇
*Thankyou Nenette Fernandes for continuing with these traditional goodies and Kripal for showcasing another GEM 💎* 🙌🏽
True that Sir 🙏🙏
Wow very interesting episode. I don't know how i missed this 2 years ago. I have been watching most of your vlogs. Thank for introducing such old bakeshop which has been in the society for this long. Goa is a peaceful and beautiful place, would love to visit it someday in the future...😊
As always, brilliant review by Mr Amanna. So effortless in expressing, engaging and indulgent in the food talks. A big kudos to the Mr Baker 1922 family for continuing the legacy. May you`ll flourish and prosper so the coming generations can continue to savour your traditional offerings.
So much happiness, her initial reaction when you introduced yourself was one of feeling blessed. This was a lovely video, a joy to watch, and the stories gave me a warm fuzzy feeling 🙂
Oh, and the food looked great too!
I had "stumbled upon" this bakery back in 2012 during a work trip and missed noting the place down. Thanks for featuring them as I can now finally locate them! :)
Thanks!
Thank you, Pavan.
It's goa....my native.....and Goan bakery is all ages love
I love the attitude of the lady
Excellent presentation of a nice Indian bakery.
Goa is another level isn’t it? The perfect blend if I may.
Kripal very interesting conversation and the beautiful weaving of the snacks amazingly explained - thanks for showcasing the century old Mr. Baker 1922. Honest presentation and Cheers :-)

Awesome and Thanks. Will definitely visit this place the next time I am in Panjim.
Mr Baker, Sticking to basics and you sustain for 100 years.. ✌🏽🙌🏽
How did I bloody miss this in Goa ? This looks like the king of authenticity of Goan desserts and savories! Thank you Kripal for bringing this up.. I'm already in love with the bakery...it's history. ..it's setup and obviously the food. Can't wait to visit this bakery!
Happy eating for when you do, Guru.
I'm from the Philippines. We have a cake called "bibingka" (probably evolved from "bebinca") but ours is not layered. Our "puto" (rice cake) even came from India (puttu). A savory Indian dish called "calderada" is called "caldereta" in the Philippines and there is a place in my region called Goa (in the province of Camarines Sur). I think these are all due to trade. Thank you India!
😃 nice to know.
i guess the Portuguese were in Philippines too… They ruled goa fir 451 years..
In 1777, Franciscan Friar Fr. Juan Abalay, from the Portuguese colony of Goa in India, came to administer the parish. It was on his arrival that the village was converted into a town with the official name of Pueblo de Goa. Fr. Abalay was instrumental in naming the town Goa, motivated presumably for two reasons: to perpetuate the memory of his birthplace and to give official confirmation to the name which the place has been known for some time corrupted allegedly by the Spaniards from “gajo”.
Awsome... The lady is so graceful and genuine
I was in Panjim 15 days back and I missed so many of the oldest eateries including Mr.Baker.1922 as I just watched these videos upon returning home.
I had to rush back due to gloomy weather in Goa and Coastal Karnataka.
I will be visiting Goa once again once the weather will become more brighter and explore most of the eateries Kripal has featured in his videos.
Viva Goa 🥂❤😎
Lovely, thoroughly enjoyed this episode.
The lady is lovely...will definitely visit mr. Baker sometime...thanks for the video !

I hope to visit India one day and make my way to Goa, Kerala, Chennai, Mangaluru and Bengaluru which I think have some of the best cuisines in India.

I just loved that teeny pause posing as a question, Mr. Amanna let slip after introducing himself, waiting for that spark of recognition from Lynette 😂
That cashew fruit is called Gerhannu it's my childhood memories of having fruit found in places near Kumta 😀
I Love My GOA...❤️❤️❤️

Wow the way you speak Kripal sounds like a poetry your words just flow simply love the way you make the whole conversation so interesting and exhotic. Just love you Kripal God bless you and now Mr Baker 22 is on my bucket list 👍🏻
Being goan I never visited this place thinking its a same as some modern bakery items but this vlog surprised me...wil visit for sure
Have visited Mr. Bakers ever since my childhood when I am in Goa. Try their 'angel wings' made of tender fresh coconut. Am not sure they sell it all year around.
Very nice explanation of every item. I admire your taste buds and subsequent identification of the ingredients. A must-visit during my next visit to Goa
Excellent video 👌
Nice video Thanks
yummy and tempting traditional taste 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
I am definitely going to visit this place next time. I remember couple of years ago I visited Simonia in Mapusa to buy bebinca. They didn't have it but told it would be ready by 3pm. So we waited for 2 hours and it was worth it. We bought hot freshly prepared bebinca and the smell was amazing! I just had half of it while it was still hot. DELICIOUS!
How are you sir iam fan of you your sound is aaaaa
