Goan food is almost same as food in Coastal Karnataka even the food names due to Konkani connection for Eg: from Karwar, North Karnataka to Mangalore, south Karnataka. Always enjoyed these dishes 👌

No its not... Goan food is amalgamation of Saraswat and Portuguese cuisine whereas Karnataka is mix of Saraswat and other hindu cuisines. Goan food is comparatively bland compared to Karnataka or Kerala cuisine.

Good afternoon dear Kripal 👍 Sorry for the delayed response as I just stepped out of a meeting . So Goa series continues 👍👌👌
So it’s Kokni Kanteen and glad you could have a banter with the owner , Mr Girish , even before stepping into the hotel 👍 That was quite an insight into what’s the difference between “Authentic” and “Traditions” . He is absolute spot on 👏🏼👏🏼 The “Kanteen” seems to be a fusion of holding the traditional artefacts with some modern infusion 👌 Whoa 27 varieties of fish on a daily basis 👍 Now it’s time for the child like inquisitiveness of Kripal that’s well established during each of the Kitchen tour which in turn provides us a thorough insight 👍👍 I love the way Mr Girish was able to articulate the Scientific-culinary reasoning for the ingredients that go into making of the gravy in lieu of the type of fish that is used 👍👌 Now we have the sea-food feast on the table and super drool-worthy 😋 Time for the fried fish , Goan Pearlspot Rawa fry ,
Silver Fish Rawa Fry . The gravys are super appetising ; Mackerel Gravy , Udha Methi Mackerel gravy , Veg Rose gravy , Veg Masala , Kokum Footi Khadi ( this is what we make at home ) 😋😋 True some times the Rava batter is so thick that it takes away the natural flavour of the marinated fish . In this case the coating of Rawa is so thin just to act as a binder to hold the delicate and fleshy Mackarel 👍The rice and Mackarel curry seems to be flavourful but quite mild as the heat from the chilli is a tad subdued 👍 Whoa this is the first time I am watching and hearing about a sweet and sour amboti , quite different from the the other Konkani restaurants that dish out the ubiquitous sour and spicy Amboti dish . Time to pack a punch with the spicy Red Mackarel curry with the rice and that’s the sort of sour-spicy curry that I love 😋😋 Have never tried the Mackarel Udha Methi curry and thanks for explaining the flavour of each and every dish 🙏🙏🙏 You have an eidetic memory and able to translate 100% of what you got enlightened in the kitchen in a story form 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Ok that’s Goan version of the curry meen of Kerala ( wow such a contrast in terms or preparation) . Love India 🇮🇳 for its diverse culinary culture and proud to be an Indian 🇮🇳🇮🇳 That small bite of the pepper corn has still strongly registered it’s tingling and numbing sensation 😀 despite having tasted other dishes . When in Goan I would like to be one and just dive into the scrumptious Sea-food fare 😀😀 I love the Kismoor ( dry shrimp ) with some rice and gravy ( one has to develop a palate for this coz I honestly didn’t enjoy it the first time around ) . Yet another wonderful comment “ Food draws from traditions , traditions draws from where People come from” Finally you get a Sol Kadi being served from a person in Assam 😀 Alsanyache Tonak with some cow red peas is a good palate cleanser 👍👍 Mr Girish is truly passionate and knowledgeable about what his eatery dishes out (post some tweaking and experimentation )👍👍 Over the weekend we have Sol kadi so let me a get my glass and do a SK cheers 👍👍 This was a thoroughly enjoyable and enlightening Vlog 👍👍 This is simply awesome and brilliant and will definitely watch it quite a few times 😀😀 Thanks Bhau 🙏🙏 Take , care , Stay safe and healthy and God bless 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • @FoodLoversTV

Neither, the teppal or teffal is an indigenous Goan berry used to spice traditional curries. Its flavour is quite similar to Sichuan pepper corns, numbing tingling sensation when one bites into it. I found this this online on the ingredient: Known as ‘Indian prickly ash‘ in English it belongs to the genus of ‘Zanthoxylum‘. This spice contains a component, ‘sanshool‘ which is a local anaesthetic that causes a tingling or numbing sensation on the tongue.

You will never hear or see crimes in goa were a catholic has harmed a hindu or a hindu criminal has harmed a catholic.
Hindu criminal harm hindus and catholic criminals harm catholics. In case you find a case where the criminal and victim are of different relegions them 99% of the times both parties were drunkards or some gone cases loafers.
You know nothing about the origins of the inquisition. The power role in Europe was changing and in such situations there will be turmoil for years.
And the same turmoil gets transferred to the 'colonise'.
There is nothing different in the inquisitors and wht R$$ is doing right now. Its the same mentality.
The inquisition effected the jewish traders the most bcoz the spanish monarch was broke & wanted funds after defeating the caliphate.
No catholic goankar has ever hurt a hindu goankar and no hindu goankar has hurt a catholic goankar. And this is visible TO THIS DAY.
When rulers and monarch play games they drag patriotism and religion into everything. That is politics.
      Every Goan knows this.
Your very found for pulling inquisition British and mugals into everything.
Go dig the history of maharajas and you will how how frequently the internal wars were and how may villages were burned and how many hindu women commited johar trying to save themselves from their fellow hindu rivals.
Johar is not a practice that came after the mugals. Its an ancient Indian practice that can trace it's original to scripture eg Sati and Mahadev.
Eg the Queen of Mysore and curse of the Wadiyar
Ppl from the landlocked mainland don't know that Bharatiya coastal cities always had infux and settlements for traders jews from Arabia. If there are Jews with time there will be christians also.
They was trade route that was used by gujjus to Mozambique and Europe.
Trader routes to Thailand sri lanka etc.
With trade come change in religion food opportunity and power dynamics etc. This is the way of the world.

"sola" refers to dried kokum.. we goans wud never say sol kadi... we always say kadi... coz everyday kadi is always made with kokum(sola)( only on occasions kadi is made with taak(buttermilk),ajwain, ginger, tenphla(sechuan pepper?!),lemon, tamrind and are usually made with hindu festive meals).. mostly marathi ppl refer to it as sol kadi.. normal kadi with coconut milk is kadi.. where as one without coc0nut is called tivaL or fuTi kadi...

Yes bcoz he is not a hindu and we all know how sensitive some ppl like your self are.
I am of konkan ancestory and I will tell you.
The fish curry taste in konkan hindu households is different for konkan catholic households.
Even the sajigay(upma) preparation is different.
But I understand mainland chamchas will not know this. Now they know.

@@tl7239 Nobody cares what religion he is or follows..I am talking about the state of the country , nowadays using the word Hindu has become very dangerous.. People get called intolerant or non-secular by just mentioning that word. That's the reason he said "before you start pulling out your daggers" trying to justify why he used that word.

Pls understand we were not born yesterday or blind or deaf that we dont know who is intolerant and tolerent.
All the mess in this country is because mainland chaka politicians don't have the guts to keep law and order in this country.
When the law is strong and parliment is disciplined everyone will be in line and live quiet family lives. Otherwise all will act like entitled self proclaimed territorial dogs.
As a konkan I know the home cuisine of goan hindus and catholics are slightly different in taste. But both happily consumed by both communities in the restaurants without any botheration.
Now to say the bangada (mackerel) amchi thicksi kadi ( sour and spicy curry) of my grandmother is not authentic from my neighbour's grandmother. Will not be true. Both curries are konkan style.
If you were goan you would have realised this easily. We konkans are not very outspoken about our cuisine and culture like punjabies keralites or gujjus.
But nevertheless we are proud and possessive about it.
We konkans amongst our community clearly differentiate between GSB and catholic home taste this is our way our culture and a part of who we are. We proudly say whether something is primarily GSB or catholic without any hesitation. We clearly state whether some preparation or practice is hindu or catholic.
Kripal (not sure) has some konkan connection that is most probably the reason why he phrased it that way. He is aware that konkans unaplogitically distinguish between GSB and catholic styles of cooking.
You want to accept it accept it otherwise don't bother.
Second this is a simple food channel we should comment abt food. Such comments simply spoil the experience for everyone. My comment included.
If you found the post offensive then flag it.
I am tired of mainlanders preaching to.We know your history or culture and OUR FUTURE. We have been living a simple family life for hundreds of years be in our our hometown or our diaspora abroad.
We proudly acknowledge our hindu and catholic brotheren and support each other. Our forefathers hindu/catholic to this day have not depended on any one for anything. We have made our own life.
Our life is simple but it is fruitful.
Thank you for spitting on the ways of my people and the judgement of our forfathers.
      Thank you for nothing.

Nowadays nothing is authentic in Goa, as outsiders outnumber the locals and pretend to act like Goans. I doubt if this Girish guy is Goan in the first place.
