- When youtube suggested a Cowboy Lasagna video I was like "What is going on in this world?" so I was curious and watched the video. After about 5 seconds into the video I was in love with the presenter and the channel but was I in love with the lasagna?
Watch this video because this Cowboy is going to surprise you with the lasagna cooking method.
😋This is my White Lasagna recipe I recorded back in 2014 when I was skinny. It is an old video but I suggest you to watch it: • BEST LASAGNE RECIPE | ...
Thanks to @CowboyKentRollins for sharing his Lasagna cooking method

Who loves Cowboy Kent the same way I do? He has a great personality
Kent is definitely a great guy that puts a cowboy twist on the cooking
I like Kent Cowboy and I like Vincenzo😀 What are great people 👨🏻🍳🤠❤
Kent did say Cowboy Lasagna, his cooking in Big Bertha is Legendary! He is a national treasure in Oklahoma, USA!
Maybe when Kent makes a Bolognese, you can ask the Bolognese master to react to it with you.
Absolutely! Both of you have awesome unique character...its a great time watching you guys.
So glad you didn't bash my man Kent. When I saw the thumbnail I was worried. But you ended up seeing what we all see about Kent. Hes a very fun and loveable cowboy.
You’re right!
He is a good man and certainly puts passion into what he does!
Thanks so much my friend
Even Uncle Roger couldn't attack him when he made Fried Rice. It is actually surprising sometimes just how diverse Kent's palate actually is.
Thats called a jack of all trades my good Sr, and a good one at that.
I thought the same thing, but he didn't do that and I like his style as much as I like Mr. Rollins. So he gets my sub today.
I have followed Kent for years, he’s amazing with cast iron and how to properly care for them. I was so happy to find you. You’re always so respectful and lighthearted. It’s a joy cooking with you I must admit.
Awesome! Thank you so much Mary 😍 I'm glad you enjoyed this video!
@@vincenzosplate yeah great stuff sir!
This was almost more of a review of his recipe than a classic “react” video. Loved the positive vibes and the constructive criticism!
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed this video! 🙏🏻
When it comes to reacting to someone else's cooking, that's how it should be.
@@bon7029 Well, the reaction is that good because Cowboy Kent did a great job. Yes, the wine should go with the meat, the soffritto is quite important, but it is obvious that he knows what he's doing and overall his recipe is way beyond my expectations. I bet that his lasagna is delicious. Vincenzo wouldn't be so kind reacting to some carbonara here on YT...
By the way, I like to make my own pasta (just eggs and flour) and end my lasagna with a top layer of pasta. I love how crisp it gets. But that's my taste and probably Vincenzo would be horrified by that :D
@@walmin73 Exactly. Cooking as with very many things in life can be subjective in how we want the result.
Kent doesnt need constructive criticism. He makes a recipe even better in his own way. Why be boring with lasagna
Cowboy Kent can make literally any food in cowboy style and it will be delicious. It won't be traditional, it will taste differently, but will be incredible
Yes, I agree! that lasagna is certainly not traditional, but I'm sure it's good!
cowboy hummus atahini
@@bobsmith372 sounds like we're using cowboy beans as the base instead of chickpeas. Actually now that I'm thinking about it ....
I was thinking along the same lines. Not traditional, but very good! If this was cooked in Italy, I do not think Nonna would have approved. BUT - if Nonna was in the US around Kent, I think she would have approved. :)
Yes, you have to remember that Kent is making meals on the trail that don't require a refrigerator so they will almost never be authentic to what restaurants can do. But his gift is showing us that trail/camp food never needs to be unfulfilling or bland. His meals will put you right to peaceful sleep after a long day in the great outdoors. 😄
As a Texan; I'm so proud to have Kent represent us Cowboys. I love Kent and his food!
This is great! 🤠
Thought he was from Oklahoma?
Kent lives and is from New Mexico.
@@michaelross1452 Isn't his coffee shop in Texas?
Kent is from Oklahoma
Vincenzo : "it shows you can do lasagna everywhere without a kitchen"
Cowboy : proceed with a blender
Hahahahahaha 🤣🤣
You could use a mortar and pestle and that would work instead
if you use a bowl and a very clean rock you can get the same resuts lol
He could have chopped like a nonna
There’s gas powered blenders out there
Reason for butter over olive oil. Simple, cowboy country has plenty of butter making cows hanging round not to may olive trees...just sayin'
that's true!
That is true.
Yeah but its as easy to go to the store and buy extra virgin olive oil as it is to buy butter. I do both.
@@bob707builder8 Not if you live way out in the country. A lot of times, grocery runs are 1-2 times a month
@@junkyardsanta8814 that's no excuse to not buy olive oil when you do your run
This is why Vincenzo's awesome. He breaks down the "what's good and what's not" in a video.
thank you so much 🙏🏻❤
its dumb lol bc hes not right no one is right he cant tell him whats right this is his way of cooking it
@@philo2189 it wasn't so much saying what is right or wrong he simply compared how it was different than Italy where lasagna came from.
@@daleplant5275 except that's not the case he literally said multiple times on the video no no no that's wrong and then said his way of doing it when really you can make it however tf you want
This was a very fair and balanced video review Vincenzo. I would say Cowboy Kent's lasagna, is less a recipe and more of an alternative method, where one can make lasagna even on an outdoor ranch, or a camping trip.
Thank you a lot for your comment! 🙏🏻
I fully agree with you
I've known Kent for a few years. He is the real deal. We've made several meals from his RUclips and his cookbooks. We do most cookung on cast iron. Often with coals at our fire cooking pit. Love both your shows!
Thank you Craig! I know Kent's a great man, and he puts a lot of passion in what he does!
You are so lucky to know him. My gf and I wanna go down there and do his classes.
I love how you're not just critical but also positive about Kent's "lasagna" and his cooking. I don't know if you Kent ever met up, but I hope one day you do and you can make beautiful food together!
I hope too! 🥰
Kent Rollins is actually pretty good to be honest, but hey nobody's perfect :D
ahahah true
@@vincenzosplate I😍😍😍Cowboy Kent.
I made his version of fried catfish.....OHHH LAAWDD..IT WAS SO GOOD !!😍😍😆
@@valerieneal2747 Can't go wrong with fried catfish, its just so good, but fried bass almost beats it.
This is the most polite chef reaction video I've ever seen 😂
Hahahahaha thank you
Love your laid back approach to this rather than getting so negative :)
Many thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it
Folks could learn a whole lot from Vincenzo. Especially these days. It's possible to offer some critique without being mean or rude or disrespectful. Yes.
We need to see a Vincenzo's Plate & Cowboy Kent collab!
It would be epic 🤠🤠
Yes! Great idea.
I love Cowboy Kent, and watch him regularly. I'd eat anything the old man put on a plate.
Oh wow, your the fan no.1!!!
@@vincenzosplate That goes for any dish by you as well Vincenzo. My Nonna would slap me in the head if I didn't admit that. Dio riposare la sua anima.
Roger, it looks like a baby has infiltrated your avatar. Just so you know. LOL
I love Cowboy Kent, too. I grew up in the US south eating Rotel tomatoes (though never in lasagna!), and all our casseroles, including my mother's lasagna, had a layer of crusty, browned cheese on top. I think most Americans love this and consider it desirable and delicious.
Ciao Carla, yeah you’re right, this is an Americanized version, which Americans definitely like!
It is certainly not the traditional Italian recipe, but it still looks good!
@@vincenzosplate Even bad lasagna is pretty good :D
Yeah, we Americans definitely brought in the broiled/golden cheese cap to the party... Without it, Mac and Cheese would still be for children. ;-)
I'm 1st generation Italian/American, I know it's not traditional, and my Nona would have pinched my ears for doing it, but when cooking for ourselves, the "Right" way is to do it so that the end result makes you do the happy-dance after the first bite...
I put a salamander broiler in my own home-kitchen... Let's just say I do a LOT of "dancing" 😂
@@vincenzosplate We have to use Rotel because ... we're Americans. lol It's pretty good. Well, it's OK. I used it in Tex-Mex, and Italian. Our version, that is. I'm trying to use more real tomatoes in my cooking - but it takes some real effort. I agree with you Vincenzo. Real is always better. When I grew my own tomatoes years ago, I would never have used Rotel. Cheers.
Big NO on the Rotel. I live in Kentucky now and so many people use it. Never ever saw anyone using it growing up. I don't like it.
I love Kent!! He is the reason I watched this video and now I am a subscriber of Vincenzo's Plate! I will say this, Kent is not from Wisconsin, he is from the panhandle of Oklahoma. Have you seen his chicken fried steak video? Looks sooooo delish!
Hi travis, and welcome to Vincenzo's Plate 😁
Kent Posse's in the house 🤣🤣🤣
Got my sub too - pleasure meeting you
Same here
I bet Cowboy Kent makes better pasta than Olive Garden! hahaha
Hahahahaha probably!
I will agree
my 92 yr, old jewish grand dad could make better pasta than olive garden
My 12 year old can make better lasagna then Olive Garden….
@@chefdjkushhead7587 HAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Cowboy Kent's recipes are actually pretty good. Maybe not authentic but good. And he seems like a helluva nice guy.
I agree!!
I like that Kent doesn't claim them to be autenthic. He says straight that it's cowboy style lasagne. You can do good food with your own style, but you can't claim it's something it isn't.
Depend on when you thing tradition and authenticity begins... this lasagna does not correspond to the italian tradition, but if you consider that cow boys have their own traditions, then this lasagna is indeed traditionnal, but not "italian traditionnal", "cow boy traditionnal". It totally depend on how old and how specific you consider something must be to be considered a tradition. In my opinion, cow boys have indeed developped their own culture, a culture that is based on previous existant european cultures, but that is still distinct from them. And if that lasagna recipe is very old and specific to cow boys, then I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be considered traditionnal. Quick note though, I am not sure if Kent Rollins invented that recipe or not, I don't remember what he said, but if he created it then I wouldn't consider it traditionnal. I assume he didn't created it.
Tex-Mex is his strength but I’d eat anything he served up.
at least he did not claim it was authentic, i kind of liked he's take on a lasagna cooked on fire, good content
yeah that wasn't so bad
But the title says Traditional Lasagna. Maybe it's his tradition, but certainly not Italian tradition. Still, not too bad compared to many other youtube videos.
@@Fred_P after over two hundred years and people from all over the planet America has developed its own traditional cuisine. Whether it's the variety of pizzas found throughout the country or Mexican foods that aren't found anywhere in Mexico America has a rich history of culinary traditions.

Loved the reaction.
