What happened to Salvage Dawgs?

One of DIY cable network’s most-viewed reality television shows, “Salvage Dawgs,” chronicled the business transactions of an architectural salvage store called Black Dog Salvage. From November 2012, viewers witnessed how store owners, Mike Whiteside and Robert Kulp, went to soon-to-be-demolished buildings and salvaged all valuable architectural vintage items they could find inside. They were gearing up for the 12th season, but that was put on hold in early 2020 as a result of restrictions imposed because of the Covid-19 pandemic; the DIY network later announced that they aired the final episode and the show would no longer be back on TV.

Believe it or not, I've become casual friends with Mike. Bought a few things from him directly and have come to know some of the cast. Saw Mike about 8 months ago and asked him about the show. He says he misses the money but the show had a great run and that's good enough for him and Robert. Grayson left the business about 2 years ago, got married and has 2 kids now. Tay has ventured on his own but still has some involvement mainly because of his dad. If you visit there, you'll find it's become more modern than vintage of the past in what they sell these days. It's lost some of the nastalgia and lure but still a great place to visit.

Saw him about 8 months ago and asked him if the show will ever come back. He said no more than yes. He misses the money but had a great run and him and Robert are satisfied. Tay ventured out on his own but still gets involved with the business. Grayson left about 2 years ago, got married, and has 2 kids now.

I visited my son new house he and his wife have a show industrial style stopping breakfast table. I ask them if they purchased it from BDS. It looks like a sofa table I saw that was made on the show years ago! ❤

My wife and I loved this show and we never missed a episode. We also love all the people in the show , they all feel like family . It is on our bucket list to visit Roenake , Virginia and visit Black Dog Savage and hopefully meet all of them . Until then I'll keep looking for them on RUclips. Happy Trails 👣 and be safe

I've known Mike for 5-6 years. Bought a few things from him directly. He's fun to be around and doesn't take life seriously like Robert does. Tay ventured out on his own but is still involved but Grayson left 2 years ago, got married, and has 2 kids now. If you ever get to visit Roanoke, stay at the Black Lantern Inn. Chris and Jane are great hosts. And you'll only be 3-4 minutes from Salvage Dogs.

I will always love the new friends I had from Black Dog Salvage, but I will always hate the robot voices used by cheap-ass companies that make poor decisions like not using a real live person to narrate these programs. The "Dogs" deserve better than robo-lips mispronouncing words and emPHAsizing the wrong syllABLES. This could have been a good, entertaining show - too bad they went cheapo.

I really liked this show because when I was much younger I dabbled in antiques and some salvaging of turn of the twentieth century through the mid twentieth century architecture , so for me this show brought back memories ,,,, the only thing I couldn't stand but put up with because I enjoyed the theme of the show was , when the camera was interviewing two of them or the group was when they kept on laughing about stupid s##t , and then laughed more about more stupid s##t ,,,,, every damn comment they make was followed up by inane laughter ,,,, they might as well have named the show , The Mutual Admiration Society Of Giggles and Laughter ,,,,, it bothered me to the point
where I refused to watch them.
