WHAT WE DO - Synthetic Phonics
This series focuses on the initial beginning sounds, middle vowel sounds with an ending consonant sound. This is known as ‘onset & rime’ (e.g. C-AT). We also focus on individual sounds by ‘blending & segmenting’ CVC words. Students learn to identify the smallest individual sounds (phonemes) and how we represent them as letters (graphemes) which helps with their reading and spelling. Otherwise known as GPC (grapheme-phoneme correspondence). This series builds of the www.letters-and-sounds.com UK phonics programme. Help your child practice speaking along at home by learning how to write and say the sounds of the English language. Feel free to send me messages in the comments if you have any questions.
