@@mr.history6404 Actually, I use a calendar that is exactly 180 years behind the real date, and amazingly it is the same day of the week, leap years and last digit, so a new decade is always a new decade. e.g. I am writing this comment at 18:09 BST on Sunday 4th July 1841, and I was born in September 1827 (precise date not given for obvious reasons)
If only! I would love to own your home! It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m in love with the windows! I hope the new owners will treat the home kindly as you two did 😊
Good Luck selling your home! It's so beautiful I'm sure it will go fast. We've made an offer on a 1908 home on the south coast in Oregon. It's on 50 acres be cause we are looking for peace and quiet and a small town feel so I totally get your need for privacy! Love your new home as well!
The artwork for my book covers comes from antique 19th-century magazines in our private archive. :) The originals were printed in black and white; I scanned them, cleaned up the age spots and foxing, printed out copies and then colored them in by hand. The original black and white artwork was done back in the 19th-century using a technique called steel plate engraving. It was a type of etching done on metal plates that were then fitted into a printing press.
If you look at the historic census records as a starting point, you can find out who lived at your address at various years. Then you can track down more information with those names. Try that to start!
I just love you both and adore the way you live i wouldt even dare to try even tho i wish i could. Hopefully someday i can say hi and gibve you an ol' big hug for the joy you bring with the videos and books you bring us. Grreetings from Berlin Germany
Here's hoping you get a great price for your former home, and that the new owners will enjoy & preserve the historic details!
Yes!
I am just so inspired by you Srah. And also I am writing a book about a victorian mansion..... Love the victorian era.. I am 12
I'm 13 and also love the era, though more the earlier part.
@@scurly0792 That's awesome 🤗
@@scurly0792 same, I am more interested in the mid to late 40's/50's, with the gold rush and such.

Welcome, neighbor. So happy you moved to the midwest. I teach historical handspinning so if that is of interest to add to your parlour, let me know.
I hope that whoever purchases/purchased your house appreciates it just as much as you two have :)
Your house is so beautiful: the interiors, the garden, the views, everything. I really hope the new people that move into it don't modernise it!
Agreed!!!
Good Luck! I own a 1898 Victorian, so I understand with all the time you both spent fixing it up; that you hope someone loves the house the same way.
Hope everything goes well and that you get lots of inspiration for new books to write so we can read them. I enjoy all your books
Beautiful new home! I love the old one as well as the new one, can't wait to see what you do with the interiors. Many blessings and new adventures 📖☕💐
I grew up in a Victorian home my mom and dad bought it and was built in 1889 it was a brick house was in Cincinnati Ohio and still stands today.
It's a truly beautiful home, and I'm sure you will miss it. Iowa however is beautiful as well, and must be excited for that. Blessings.

It seems really cozy.
Did you guys restore you old home? It’s so quaint and lovely!
Sarah, who drew the artwork for your books? They are so well drawn and look drawn by hand?

@@Victorianlady Wow that is very original and fantastic. Thanks for sharing!
How did you find the history of your house? I'd love to know more about my old 1925 house but I don't even know where to start!
