I feel like I just got a mini class in photography. I just got my a7c today and was seeking to learn just a bit more about the product. I learned so much in the last half hour. Literally had my a7c out practicing what you were teaching so I could use the knowledge/tools in the field. Thanks for providing so much value !
Have only used my A7C in manual mode and am taking a college class in beginning Manual Photography - my instructor directed me to your tutorials - thank you. Even with the manual I couldn't figure out how to adjust the ISO.
this is such an insightful tutorial. my partner is new to the sony world and was quite nervous when she received the A7c as a gift. this has given her the confidence she needs to continue her youtube career. thanks mate
This video is exceptional. It is clear, informative, and super efficient in explaining how to navigate the Sony A7C and provides an excellent overview of the basics of photography. Thank you so much, Jason!
Another amazing tutorial. Your explanations of Sony's insanely complex menu system are the clearest and most and helpful I have found on RUclips. Thank you!
I believe the title is misleading. Its good not just for the Sony 7C but an excellent video for anyone wanting to quickly learn about the exposure triangle. Great work bro!
bro that bonus part about the shutter speed in aperture mode is genius! I was having real trouble and the camera was starting to wind me up! on behalf of the shaky hand crew i salute you sir!!
Wow, you taught me something important here. I got my A7C the day it came out, it's my first camera ever (other than cell phone). I was shooting everything in Manual mode, I didn't even know S stood for Shutter priority or that A meant Aperture. The biggest thing I learned here is the meter values on the bottom telling you what the camera suggests doing to balance the exposure level. I end up fixing everything in post, thinking that I'll get better sharpness with low ISO and high shutter speed, and edit exposure in lightroom. Now I'm going to experiment more and see what actually works.
Awesome to hear Vincente ;) I would also recommend exposing using the histogram. You can see it by pressing the display button until it comes up. That in combination with the meter will help you determine whether you can raise the exposure or not for example. Also, you can use this tool to determine how many exposures will be needed to capture an HDR scene properly. All the best, Jay
I caught about 30% of what you threw out there- after about 4 more viewings- I hope I can get most of it! All I know is I need to know this stuff and so thankful you put it together!
This has got to be the best internet video anywhere to explain the fundamental basics with such surgical simplicity that every newbie and even hobby enthusiast should watch. Thank you.
Thank You so much for this update and tutorial. More of sony a7c videos . This camera is much better than sony a7iii that people don't know and all those camera youtuber hardly speak of it. Thank you for putting your effort. Love this camera more than sony a7iii.
Just what the doctor ordered, the perfect input to help me get more leverage out of my new a7c! Thanks! Most of it I knew from analog days, but it was great to see how it all plays out on the newer technology. This thing is a beast. Time to harness it!
Huge thank you to you for these tutorials, I got my A7C earlier this week and was a complete photography novice. I can already see the difference in quality from me working blind earlier this week to now.
We just got the A7C and this is extremely valuable information! Thank you for taking the time to explain the exposure triangle and the unique features of the Sony A7C 😊
Yes thanks man just started my health and wellness channel, and I get this camera in the mail Tuesday. I am so excited to start streaming. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this.
Probably the best RUclips tutorial ever!!! Thank you so much for your excellent work - thumbs up and subscribe to the channel it's the least I can do. Thank you!!!
Great explanation. I'm an amateur and I have experience using Aperture mode. I am trying to better understand shutter, exposure dial, and manual mode now. Your video was very helpful.
Great tutorial! I have always been afraid to get out of Auto mode. Never knew by going to S and A the camera would compensate the other factors automatically. Definitely didnt know the camera would tell you the exposure in Manual. Definitely more confident now
Wow! 😳 I‘m impressed with the value of this tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for - simple, but very informative. And thank you for explaining som of the basics in an easy to understand way. Hope there are more of such tutorials from you ☺
Best demonstration. Now i understand this relationship better, thank you. I wish I didn't buy a7ii. I wanted a compcat full frame camera but sony didn't have a7c back in Feb, and I didn't know they were coming out with a7c later this year. Now what I have to use a7ii, i don't have budget for 2 cameras. Really like a7c.
I totally hear ya, and I ended up getting the A6400 about 8 months ago for the same reason. I don't regret getting the A6400, because it really is a perfect B camera for me and now I have the A7C also :)
I just wanna learn to shoot better so a7ii will have to do. Not planning to shoot like a pro, just wanna be a hobbyist so I can shoot plants and flowers better.
God I needed this lol I have been taking pictures for a while and take pretty awesome pics but seem to favor the "auto" setting but knew I was holding myself back. Thank you for the more in-depth info!!!!!
Thanks for the comments and the switch from exposure comp to a "meter" is one of those fundaments things that you really need to know if using manual mode with Sony cameras ;) All the best, Jay
Very helpful! My only complaint is that sometimes you are demonstrating something and you go so quickly to the screen you want to show, that it is impossible to figure out how you got there. I had to rewatch the particular section four times to finally figure out which buttons you pushed to get to the screen (the ISO menu in this case).

Hate to be that person, but I think fast lenses aren't called fast because of light entering faster but because taking in more light with a larger aperture allows you to use faster shutter speeds. Anyway, I appreciate your channel. Just got an a7C recently as my first "real camera," and these videos are super useful.
It's ok to be that guy and thanks for the kind words ;) The large aperture allows light to get to the sensor faster which ultimately allows for the faster shutter speeds = Fast glass.....
@@Jason_Hermann awesome, thanks :) with on the go vlogging I tent to go auto but with a camera and lens this nice I want to start learning more and controlling some things myself! Your videos are really helpful :)

Wow, I finally understand the relationship between aperture, iso and shutter speed
