That statement made by Jay Z is being taken out of context if you didn't hear the entire conversation. He was not speaking about an actual relative or something that happened, he was presenting a hypothetical and common situation.
Jay got to be a billionaire for a reason. He didn't just throw money around. If the cousin had a business plan then maybe that would be different. Good luck to Roy Wood. He was hilarious on the Daily Show. I still listen to his prank calls.
The cousin should have presented a business plan document to Jay-Z. Maybe it wasn't something Jay-Z wanted to invest in! Jay-Z is about making money! But sometimes you gotta give someone a shot! BUT, $4800 compared to $2.5 billion! 🧐🤔😲🤷🏼♀️
The problem with Jay Z little story is that it screams the bootstrap mentality which only blk successful people have. What is the issue with helping your FAMILY when you’re a billionaire? Any other race or culture does not work like that and it’s sad only us blk folk believe “if I could do it, you can too.” JayZ is the same one that asked us blk ppl to support him and all his blk owned businesses which he eventually sold once he got mega rich. If you really want to help the community like you say you do, help put ppl in position to do it. Don’t give away your money but the bootstrap mentality has got to stop
This is not a mindset that ONLY BLACK people have. There are other races that do the same. There is an actual list of billion/millionaires that teach their children to make their own way. Secondly, being worth a billion is different than having a billion dollars in the bank. He does not have a billion dollars in liquid assets to put his hands on. Did the family member have a solid business plan? People aren't obligated to just give you their money.
That interview was a few years ago. Jay z wasn't talking about this literally he's talking about how family when come up and ask you for money once you get famous. Watch the interview with Kevin Hart.
Everybody know their family. I’m sure if he felt the cousin was legit and was the type to put the money to good use he would’ve given it to him. That’s a small amount of money for a billionaire or whatever Jay z is. But he doesn’t owe him for sure however, sometimes investing in a dream when you can isn’t a bad thing.
I personally wld have given it if I was Jay. Everyone is diff tho. Cousin cld have been on his last $$ n was really looking for a break. Not to mention it was probably hard for him to bring himself to ask Jay. And yes Jay ….ppl do give out opportunities actually
I wouldn’t because where was the business plan? Life isn’t like that. No one is giving out opportunities. Go fix your credit and get a loan. Simple as that. I am the only Doctor making 6 figures a year within my family- I get asked for money all the time and it’s a NO!
@@Dr.Lewis2021 He may or may not have had a ‘written’ b-plan. I don’t think we know that. But it sounds like he had a plan. That was an oppty for Jay to teach him how to write an effective plan if he didn’t
🎉these rich people spending all kinds of money going to the moon taking submarines for millions and people suffering when god hates you he gives you lots of money 🎉

They never research. They just read headlines. Rarely are the facts reported correctly.
That's right. I saw that entire interview. He was giving a Hypothetical situation.

U dont owe anyone ANYTHING!
They did Roy wrong, especially after the Correspondence Dinner.
That is his money. He is not obligated to give it to anyone. 🤷🏾♀️

A real business plan. The cousin just wants Jay-Z to take his word like a fool.
just can’t give money away to any one! jay z would be broke.
I love the way Ricky breaks things down
I hate how Gary don't research lol this Jay Z interview was NOT recent. This interview was Season 2 of Kevin Hart's talk show. So like in the Spring.
Nope! Cuz you give one you give'em all.
If you're in your car stand up 😂😂

Exactly!
We don't know the relationship that they had. He's probably one of them cousin that keeps asking for money. We don't know period.
I wish ppl watched the whole interview so they could get the context of what Jay was saying.

No one gives out opportunities. You have to do something and be great at it or at least good before someone gives your an opportunity
