    Do you get any issues with increases in nitrate with the powdered food... I tried it for a couple of weeks, I'm not sure if there was a massive increase in biofilm etc, but I did see a nitrate increase, I eased back and nitrates reduced. I think this is a great baby food delivery system, bit I'm not sufficiently experienced to be as bold as you, maybe I should have held my nerve!?! Great video as ever.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 года назад

      oh yes for sure it increases nitrates feeding this way thats why you need the bigger water changes, the neo tanks get 30 %a week.

  • @lurklingX
    @lurklingX 2 месяца назад

    isn't a dark blue dream just a blue diamond? i mean... it went from diamonds to velvets (with the lighter color) and then blue dreams seemed to be very high quality velvets. so if you wanted dark blue, that seems like the original starting point.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 месяца назад

    Hi Mark, I got a tank with blue dream mix with mix of Cari. Pinto. The blue dream reproduce like crazy and the pinto, not at all. Tank perimeter is for caridinas. Is it because the blue dream colonie is stronger and take over the pinto? I am thinking to split both colonie in different tank. Any advice? Maybe you got a video explaining that. thx

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 года назад

      Hello Henri, yes you are correct kinda both sets of shrimp need different parameters to thrive, pinto shrimp are a softwater shrimp, blue dreams are a softwater shimp. what are you using for a substrate and whats your water source?

    Maybe I've missed it, but: at what size/age would you consider them culls? I have about 30 red rilis that are 1cm/about 3 weeks old, and some are lacking in colour a bit... Neocaridina reach maturity around 3 to 4 months, if my research is right, so should I give them more time, or start culling?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 года назад +1

      with neos its a little different, they can color up nicely as they get older, so you would want to remove everything that isnt the main color first and then give the rest a chance to grow, I normally start to cull harder at around 1 cm before they get to breeding size. neos can breed when they are very small.
