As much as I appreciate Ryan’s videos that I’ve been watching seems like forever now, at some point in time we have to realize we’re beating a dead horse as a community. EA sports doesn’t want to change their game. They have no desire to so. Until the contract ends with the NFL or they have some real competition. This is what we’re going to get and it’s very unfortunate.

@@10essee10titansthey don’t have exclusive rights to the NFL or ESPN but they have exclusive rights to create NFL SIMULATION games. Meaning other studios can only create arcade style football games if they use the NFL license. That’s why we may not see a NFL 2K title until 2026 when that contract expires.
When 2k thought the contract would end they started dropping news of a football sim development. The Madden contract was reworked and extended causing 2k to make major changes to the game they were developing. Now since there is so much hype about NFL 2k it seems as if they have elected not to make an arcade style football game, as that will surely disappoint fans and they pretty much have to cash out on the 1st title or bye bye to the series again.
It’s why I gave up in Football games.
Just waiting for the IGN review to say that Madden is taking a step in the right direction lol.

Dude I'm sorry you can't make a football game where there are no mistakes by the players. If you make a game eliminating all mistakes then you get a stalemate in every play. I haven't played Madden in years, but having perfect blocking on both sides would just make every play a stalemate. Nobody would ever catch a ball because the defender would have perfect coverage every time. Mistakes happen in real football, did you know that? There is a thing called bad coverage or a bad block or missed block.

@@Mr_Mistah dude I'm not defending Madden, but the complaints he is making aren't good points. Missed tackles are literally in real football and are in every football game ever made. The way he wants every player to do his job perfectly every time isn't realistic. As I stated above this would make every play a stalemate if nobody missed tackles, dropped a ball or had bad coverage.

The frostbite engine CANNOT consistently emulate real football. It is very hit or miss. Some good looking stuff, and then some total breakdowns. It’s very frustrating, but we really have no choice if we want to play a good looking NFL game. There’s not another option out there. Only hope is for NFL to pull exclusive tag and let 2K into the competition.
It really cant and thats a huge part of the problem.

@@jetmedics.9978 I completely agree with that. I don't buy 2K either for some of the same reasons that I don't buy Madden. That's why there needs to be competition. I don't understand how new video game consoles can continue to be justified because at this point, we're barely going to have anything left to play if things keep going the way that they are.

Oddly enough for Madden 24, the thing that annoys me even more than gameplay is the time it takes for screen transitions. In every other sports game, everything loads fast. In Madden, there is a delay between the transition from one screen to another. For example, upgrading your player in Franchise, it shouldn’t take time to transition from the Weekly Strategy screen to the upgrade screen, it should almost be instant. This game should be completely fluid, especially for next-gen consoles.

@Papasmmurf1989 I dunno......last I heard, Madden 23 didn't sell as well as the previous 2 Madden games. I mean, they still made a lot of money and it didn't sell poorly, but numbers decreasing, that's got to catch their attention. Everyone knows that the rich want to get richer. Doesn't matter if it's a multi billion dollar company, sales numbers is their priority. If enough people would think proactively and refrain from buying Madden 24, I guarantee they'd listen. Ryan Moody is doing his part to try to get peoples attention. If they don't listen, at least Ryan tried.

For companies that put out cut and paste games year after year are a monolopy, electronic arts are a good example of a monolopy company.
I believe one of the main issues is that EA stopped allowing different kinds of sports games (perhaps this is the NFL's doing). NFL Street should be able to coexist w/ Madden and NFL Head Coach. Sadly, they are trying to use one game to cater to three different gamers! When has this EVER worked? Because it does no single thing well, it will always be MADDENING and yet sadly desirable because we have no other NFL fix. Guess im gonna try Legend Bowl.
At the end of the day, EA is a business that exists to make money as well as the NFL. There's a reason the NFL keeps agreeing to extend their exclusive rights contract with EA. It nets them absurd amounts of money.
But you are right, since they have exclusive rights to use NFL property, they essentially have a monopoly on football video games and they sure as hell aren't going to introduce competition to their own game with things such as NFL Street. This leaves only us as consumers to force a change.
Ask yourself, why would EA devote time, resources, and money, to improve a product that they know will already profit them tremendously? Well they wouldn't...
We all collectively need to stop buying this trash every year and EA will finally have an incentive to improve their product.
2k has been working now 4 years on their arcade nfl football game. If it does well madden might be in for a world of hurt (both madden 05 and 2k5 were bloody amazing. Imagine how good those games would of been if they were allowed to both exist.. instead madden could slack off and we never got to see nfl 2k mature)

you know madden sucks when you have 90 ovr (superstar x factor) dk metcalf, 81 ovr (superstar) JSN, and a 78 ovr (star dev) mecole hardman/ 76 ovr (star dev) rashee rice (they split snaps) and then 86 ovr STAR dev mcduffie, same exact rating with sneed, and then freak of nature tariq woolen (somehow star dev), AND nick bolton 87 ovr, 75 willie gay (user), and 81 ovr (star dev) devin white. Then i Have Jaelan Phillips at LE 84 ovr (star dev), Mike Danna at DT 75 ovr (normal dev), Chris Jones 97 ovr (x factor), Felix Anudike-Uzomah 75 ovr (hidden dev). idk who my safeties are but my starting safeties are injured as of right now. OH! and at offensive line, every offensive linemen has at least star dev and is over 78 ovr and yet I still get sacked and pressured at least 20 times a game. At running back i have 84 ovr (star dev) Isiah Pacheco and 79 ovr Jerick McKinnon (normal dev). At TE I have 79 ovr Noah Fant (star dev). And at QB I have Patrick Mahomes 99 ovr (x factor). Im playing as the chiefs since it's my hometown team, but i'm still managing to lose to the Bears. My run defense is ass and my passing defense is ass and my passing offense is ass (I went 19/40 that game) and my running offense is ass (37 yards rushing with 17 attempts).

I can put up with a lot when it comes to EA just constantly sucking. But I cannot stand the player meshing in this game. The weird and awkward falling into each other, non-animation thing that always happens in madden 23 in now in 24.
I hate when they just say fuck it be start blocking a player that’s already blocked and just leave 3 open blitzer to yo running back or qb or soon as the ball snap they just start holding somebody to the ground
0:56 - is it just me or is anyone else overwhelmed by the amount of menus, meters, icons etc. on the screen pre-snap? Not a big deal if I can disable it but haven't found a way to do so in the previous games. All I want to see are the WR icons/routes, scoreboard and an uncluttered field

As a Dolphins fan, OL and TEs do miss blocks in the NFL. You cant expect every player to "Do Their Job" every single play. Not realistic. Especially if theyre a lower overall.
In the second clip, arent linemen supposed to block from the inside out? That way the qb can move up in the pocket to avoid the outside rush? That is basic o-line blocking, so they either can't program it properly or they just don't care...
But it's Clint blocking so he doesn't want to to make contact with a defender. 🤣🤣

I was just about to post this same thing. "When in doubt ... work inside out" is what I've always heard. The worst thing in the world is letting the inside man go free because they're going to have a shorter and straighter path to the QB. At least make the defender(s) with the greater distance to cover have to be the one to get to the QB. Pick up the inside rushers and hope your QB saw the blitz coming and is getting the ball out quickly.
Also, keep the running back into block.😅 It's not hard.
Did anyone experience or heard of the offensive coordinator glitch in franchise mode where, 5 years into the franchise, your oc gets a new job, and none are available to for hire to replace him? Also, you can’t advance unless you hire one.

I'm always tempted to try a Madden game. They used to be good enough back in the day. But the reviews are always overwhelmingly negative. Just like NBA2K. I don't see why the studio doesn't make a little effort to produce a game that's capable of being positively reviewed. The sales would triple and quadruple with only a mostly positive score.

This franchise is the proverbial Lucy pulling the football away while Charlie Brown attempts to kick it.
What also sukcs is that it really doesnt matter about the lineman's attributes. You cant call a run to the left because your LT is amazing. You have to call that run play because you get the correct animations that allow it to be successful, regardless of who you have lined up at Left tackle. To me that is asinine, it takes away the chess match of football and you just end up being helpless to watching a movie play out. Its the reason everyone runs a full back dive up the middle on the goal line, because thats a tried and true animation that plays out on that play thats almost guaranteed to get you a touchdown no matter who you have in the game.

This stuff happens in the NFL, if every offensive lineman blocked perfectly or never got fooled by different pas rushing schemes offenses would score every drive

The game was pretty good when it came out. Balanced. Now the running backs cant outrun defenses anymore, nano blitzes are back and offensive pass interference is done in one on one situations knowing it won’t be called

I mean its common sense, get the person the closest to the player you are protecting.
On that 2nd play, i can show dozens of examples with real NFL film of a right tackke being confused, and becoming a turnstile letting all the defenders run free. Now ysually, when that happens, that player doesnt last in the league too long. But it does in fact haplen.
Right. It’s literally a overload blitz. It happens in every nfl game. The goal is to bring more guys they can block. I get madden isn’t great, but that was horrible example.
But you have to remember the game isnt pogrammed for confusion like that - they dont have "mistakes" in the game code. The game instead didnt know hot to adapt to the safety pulling back and did nothing.

@@RyanMoody21 In fairness I think that happens in real life as well. Only the best QB’s can recognize when a guy is coming or not. It just appeared to me the lineman was confused on if the safety was truly coming because he’s the quicker out of all 3 players, once the safety backed out it was too late.

Don't run to the outside when you get inside the red zone that close to the goal line. Everything is compressed. Bounce it to the outside if you have to but don't design it to the-outside.

The moment I decided to stop playing is when the game was tied in the 4th quarter. I had the ball and was ready to score but somehow my quarterback overthrew a open receiver until the defender hands.
Glad I got ESPN NFL 2k5, Blitz The League 2 AND Mutant Football League to enjoy some fun football. John Madden would be so disappointed for current day Madden on consoles…

6:00 if he steps up in the pocket instead of just moving backwards that block gets picked up. A couple of the other plays are user errors too. The game isn’t great but let’s at least use good examples.

Epps moving left and then right with no penalty to his movement is also a huge problem that has been in this game since the true step removal, how can you beat defenders on routes when they make directional mistakes and are able to recover from the as is they made the correct steps to begin with.

It's much better than last year and every year after the PS2 era for sure in features and gameplay (nothing has beaten Madden 05 yet). An argument for the same game with bells and whistles can be made, but worst? People may not like it and that's fair and subjective, EA doesn't have a great record. But calling it "the worst" is disingenuous with all the crappy Maddens I've played in the past

@@Danmar72 They are bad. But the All-Pro Football 2K8 game was outstanding. They are simply saying if that specific engine model was used, the game would play like a realistic football simulation. However, that won't happen in this current climate until our country stops sacrificing quality for dollars.

Its not the same game, obviously in the past its gone downhill, but now they're getting back to where they want to be, people don't understand that with a yearly title which is in the contract and favored by most sports fans, they can't make a brand new game every year. We do not have that technology to do it that quickly. I really liked last years, but this years seems really good. I preordered mine and its downloading right now. Don't let this hater suggest otherwise. Just remember, we have so much issues in the world that matters and this guy makes daily/weekly videos on how this game doesn't meet his fantasy.

The first example is showcasing the AI #45 and #82 not knowing what to do because they don’t know where they are on the field. The second example is not realistic, because no LT just….doesn’t do anything while a safety moves into the box. And the last thing you said in your comment is exactly why EA gives what they give. The last Madden I liked was 25. It's pathetic that the blocking logic was superior back then.
I bought 17 after skipping 15 and 16, was disappointed, and finally returned it. I caved in and got 18. Disillusionment ensued. I'll likely never play a modern EA sports game again.

@@charliehofmann3524the older madden games were still bad and hardly resembled the sport... but we cut them slack because of technological limitations and the fact that they were still relatively new to the game, but theres just no excuse for the complete lack of any and all innovation, not to mention the continued failure to understand the fundamentals of the sport, given how long theyve been at it. All the problems we see with new maddens were present in older ones, just not to the same scale. Older maddens look good via our nostalgia ridden rose tinted glasses.
Until they completely rebuild and rethink the whole game engine from the ground up, every year will be the worst year, year after year!

This game being in such a poor state at this late a date crushes any excitement I have for college football coming back.

Madden 24 looks like it will be a lot better than 23. I’ll give them credit where it’s due. It SEEEMS like they finally gave us a face of the franchise that’s actually worth playing. The mini games that are essentially the same beautiful structure as the ps2 days are also a huge plus. However, the gameplay is still just the same old BS… I passed on 23 and will again this year unfortunately. I don’t really care what they add as long as they are still using this terrible frostbite engine. Sorry EA, you can do much better. I won’t help you extend your liscense any longer. You don’t deserve it, no publisher does
@@FrankGarrett72that’s not true. Superstar mode in madden 06 (PS2) was fun as hell. You could transfer over your campus legend from ncaa 06, get drafted, choose how you spent each week. And when your player got bigger and better he would start getting nicer apartments. It was never anything groundbreaking, but it was genuine fun and made for some cool and different experiences when I got tired of playing hth and season mode. Same thing with mini games, is it small? Sure, but it was fun! Especially how they implemented it into season mode during preseson. It felt like I was actually running a training camp. It all comes back to gameplay. If gameplay is GOOD/GREAT, you can sell someone almost anything. But if the gameplay absolutely sucks like it does now, people are going to absolutely shit on anything you come up with. Because you are diverting your time and resources to secondary features when you have a HUUUGGEEE hole in your gameplay loop. It’s unreal that everyday people have more of an understanding on this than current day developers/publishers
Aside from the game not improving in basic football mechanics, what gets me is this is 3 years into next gen development and the graphics still look just like last gen. SMH.

Only thing I want from madden is accurate player ratings based gameplay. I need to see guys with higher block sheds rip through run blockers and not get pancaked. I need to DBs with 90 plus rated man coverage not get consistently cooked by 80 rated or below receivers.

@@tigheeaken9736I agree, the ratings mean nothing. The game is only based on finding “ glitch plays” for offense and defense that work, if you can find 4 or 5 glitch plays that beat the animation you are good. But it should not come down to that.

God I despise this about this game. I havent bought one Madden since 19, and I was just thinking about getting this one due to the updates to the Franchise mode. its all I care about, but when you see the blocking fiasco and realize its never going to change makes me not want to get the dam game anymore.

Just like ea and madden, Ryan is suseptable to criticism despite the fact that I agree with all of his videos, you need to understand what he is trying to say and that the fundamental problems with the game are deep rooted issues that are hard coded and have been in the game for years and years, if you don’t agree with Ryan you can tell him and everyone else why the game is the best madden ever but seeing what the game has become just absolutely proves to me that some people are just blind madden fans who don’t understand and are not willing to listen or take criticism about their favorite product, just like Clint and crew
Playing Madden 12 on the ps2, the OL follow you when you scramble, re-engage DL if the QB steps into the pocket. When they fail to block, theyre still playing. I want to mod Madden 12 to look modern and animate the motions better because it be more realistic than Madden now. 2k5 just needs a port to PC and it instantly will be the best football game on steam with a franchise mode online.
