  • I wanted to show you all what I was up to with this project. Getting the fuel pump installed was a huge ordeal-we got it installed. The fuel tank was full of varnish and required a lot of cleaning. Hope you like the short update!

The anti-siphon drain back valve is probably toast as well. It didn't look like you installed a new one, pretty sure a mechanical pump needs that anti-siphon drain back valve to maintain fuel prime.

Hey, I used a replacement valve that looked like the original. There isn’t an anti-siphon. This new one is made for ethanol fuel. The packaging mentioned I need to thread one on (if applicable).

Hopefully you don't get a vapour lock issues with the mechanical pump during a hot day of boating, electric seems to work better for vapour lock especially if you install a return to the tank to eliminate the fuel dead head system. I'm not sure if a return is allowed in a marine application?

I’ve used electric before but I’m not being patient and I’m trying to avoid any extra wiring. I’ve seen the process to put the relay in, etc. I’ve going to look into that once I get a few hours in this boat.

I know this is off the subject but do you know where I can look for vent covers for a 1993 Chris Craft

Try eBay first then if that doesn’t work, you can find aftermarket ones

Im shopping around for inline fuel filters. Most have a cloudy plastic, yours is a clear plastic. I like this, can see any debris.
Where do yoy buy your inline fuel filters?
