  • IIT-Madras has maintained top rank among engineering institutes in all nine editions of NIRF, and six times overall in a row. Faculty and administration believe the work they are doing in the IIT-Madras research park in the field of startups and entrepreneurship, filing ‘one patent a day’, and their willingness to work on projects of national importance kept them ahead of the others.

Are they pushing people to publish patents for their NIRF ranking parameter marks OR Are they really usefull patents?

An institute that gets the best rank every year lags behind 2 or 3 others institutes in the international rankings.

This is true. But still BITS Pilani fails to include diversity in academia. Also the campus lacks Accessibility infrastructure for PwD and giving chance to kids from economically weaker sections. It thinks everyone has equal access to resources and high quality teaching as kids.

If you're here for computer science and advanced mtech degrees, then IIT MADRAS is the place to go, no doubts. IIT Bombay and Delhi also rank higher, also with Kanpur and Kharagpur, but nothing comes closer to IIT MADRAS. The newer IITs are just filthy crap, nothing more than Management quota engineering colleges without any talent or skill devolopment

Filing a patent is a BS narrative when there is no technical innovation in our country. Any tom, dick and harry can file a patent with no quality search in India. There is a reason why most of the research done in India is quite abysmal in quality. In the end quality matters not quantity which us indians failed to understand.
