The thing about the "healing" pastors is that if they are called out for not actually healing people, then they can just claim that it was the person's fault for not believing enough. 🙄
@@Infodumptruck It is in some states. As is charging people for psychic readings (but if you tell them you're not psychic and it's for entertainment purposes only, you can get around that law).
@@Infodumptruck I don't know about illegal, but it's definitely something their synod should condemn. The other half of the problem with "healing pastor" charlatans is that they're running independent churches that don't answer to a synod or to anyone except said pastor - who isn't going to stop himself. The other half of that problem is that some synods genuinely believe in this charismatic healing nonsense, and genuinely believe in prosperity gospel. Neither of which is supported by Scripture, but oh well. It sells tickets, as they say.
Geller was known for his spoon bending trick. It was discovered later that the spoons he used had a segment made of a weaker metal. Psychic fails are the best!
What's funny is that they don't even need to be built weak. My friends used to bend spoons as a party trick in the 90s. I got one bent into a spiral as a souvenir.
I remember Sylvia Brown who was featured on the Montel Williams show. She was on there a few times and one time that she was on a couple was in the audience asking about their missing son. She told them he was dead and somewhere by the water. Later their son was found alive and well. Discredited immediately. She has since passed away.
She did the same thing to Michelle Knights mother. Michelle was one of 4 kidnapped by that Castro guy in Cleveland. She was watching the show and her mom was getting a reading done by that fraud on Montell Williams. Michelle got excited thinking that maybe Sylvia Brown will let her mom know she’s still alive and give her clues to where she was being held captive. Her heart broke for when the fraud told Michelle’s mom that she was dead. What an awful thing to experience in an already horrible situation. Sylvia Brown is a garbage person. She’s a prime example of why these frauds do in fact hurt people. Giving someone hope and closure doesn’t excuse anything. It’s still a scam and can, in fact, hurt people.
The prayer card one is disgusting. Using faith to manipulate people is so gross. I mean they are all manipulation but using the name of a God they believe in to trick them feels way more gross than claiming to be a psychic.
One of my all-time favorite lost SNL sketches involved a psychic. Norm MacDonald plays a guy visiting just such a person, and marvels at how exact she gets the details - that is, until she places him in Dayton, Ohio. From that point forward, it doesn't matter how spookily accurate she is, he can't get past the one missed detail.
Imagine if this stuff was real though and without thinking a serial killer went on one of these shows for closure with a dead family member and instead got outed as a mass murderer on live tv.
Sir moving newspaper definitely had the air line up his sleeve and used his free hand to operate it. In situations where the performer needs long sleeves to pull off their trick, they often wear an odd get up to make the audience think, “oh, that’s just their style.” And not question why they’re wearing long John’s in the middle of summer.

So fun fact about Uri Geller if you’re a Pokemon fan: He’s the reason why there hasn’t been a printing of a Kadabra card in the TCG since 2000. Geller sued The Pokemon Company because he claimed that Kadabra was “an unofficial likeness” to him. Geller reported to the BBC, “Nintendo turned me into an evil, occult Pokemon character. Nintendo stole my identity by using my name and my signature image.” So it wasn’t until 2023 that Geller apologized and The Pokemon Company were finally able to print a Kadabra card. Imagine, someone who swindles people out of their money with fake magic claiming that a fake fantasy creature turned him into this “evil occult” image. The totally real “psychic” was upset because of a Pokemon.
I'm myself tarot reader, and I'm always telling everyone to take it with grain of salt. I'm having quite precise readings, but I would never ever try to scam someone. And you're free to not believe me, I'm side eyeing myself too 😂😂😂
I see Tarot as more of a way of looking into one's desires and intentions rather than divination. A person's reaction to a card tells me way more than the card itself.
@@MichellePondueCruzAgreed, I love tarot but it gets a bad rap because a lot of grifters use it as a means to predict extremely specific events in the future, to “communicate” with the deceased, etc. I became quite spiritual after my sister passed away & Tarot has helped me a lot, but personally I just believe I’m pulling the cards that I need to see in that moment & carrying their wisdom into my day-to-day life.
@@MEGABYSS well once I predicted someone would get a ticket. And it did. I have Santa Muerte set and those I'm specifically using for reading with dead ones and the Death itself. However I'm using it with caution, and I don't use it with people who just lost someone, that's just wrong. Tarot is not only for talking to someone's higher self, it is divination and communication tool
Dane and Ken should do something about the british mentalist Derren Brown who debunked a lot of so called psychics ! He's absolutely brilliant. Like James Randi, he understands magic and the way to trick people into believing what does not exist.
Fun fact, Uri Geller is the reason that psychics became associated with bending spoons in the first place. For younger Millenials and Gen Z who aren’t old enough to remember Geller, you may be familiar with the psychic Pokémon “Kadabra”, who is depicted holding spoons. Uri Geller is the reason. He actually sued Pokémon back in the 90s for using the likeness of his famous spoon trick in the depiction of Kadabra. For decades, the company was not able to print or sell Pokémon cards depicting Kadabra, which made the few original Kadabra cards extremely rare and valuable. He only very recently changed his mind about allowing the company to use the spoons image, and Kadabra cards are being sold once again, decreasing the value of Kadabra Pokémon cards. I never understood the reason that the psychic Pokémon was depicted with spoons when I was a kid, but I also never thought much of it. It wasn’t until I was much older and learned about James Randi and Uri Geller, that I found out about the spoon bending trick and the Pokémon lawsuit.
I was 13 and I completely believed in Uri Geller's psychic abilities, up until THAT moment on The Tonight Show. I felt so foolish, I became a skeptic and remain so to this day. "Above all else, to thine own self be true!" ~ William Shakespeare Translation - Don't bullshit yourself.

Last night my gf made me watch 'Late Night With the Devil' as our belated Halloween movie. It involved a psychic contacting the dead on a late-night TV show and a skeptic offering money for proof, and the electricity in the studio causing problems...and now you're bringing me this. Wtf, Ken and Dane, wtf... 🤣
Reminds me of this Danish comedian called Torben Chris, who had been invited to a show like this where they would “contacting” a dead loved one. He was called and asked if he wanted to participate and who he would want to get into contact with. He is a big sceptic of these things so he found it interesting and said yeah sure, and that he wanted to get into contact with his former coach. The tv show had said “okay, what can you tell us about him?” And he responded with “no , that’s your job right? The medium will contact him and you tell me about him yes?” So he refused to give them any information. After that he never heard from the tv show again 😂
After my cousin got divored, she kept going to see a pychic. She thought she was amazing because she knew everything, but my cousin would also freely give information. One big thing she said is that my cousin's ex will never come back to her. He did. I went once, but I am a very stone-faced, quiet person, so I a gave her nothing to work with. She failed miserably with me. The only thing she got close to was my grandma, but my cousin and I have the same grandma, and the lady knew we were cousins. She also said my brother and I aren't very close (I told her we were 8 years apart and half siblings, so it's a good guess on her part), but we are very close, and we were both raised by our mom with our dads not in our lives, so we grew up as full-siblings.
Uri Gellar was the famous spoon bender (he also bent keys and other forms of metal). Everyone thought it was psychic abilities, but as it turns out, he was bending the metal ahead of time, so as to weaken it. Carson (who was a magician for a long time) called James Randi and asked how they can catch him (they both knew he was a fraud). Randi strongly suggested he's bending the spoons ahead of time and to provide their own props and to NOT let Uri near them until the show. Coincidentally, when that happened, Uri stated that his "psychic abilities were not strong today" LOL

The thing about the "healing" pastors is that if they are called out for not actually healing people, then they can just claim that it was the person's fault for not believing enough. 🙄
It should be illegal
@@Infodumptruck I agree but then again they're technically activating a placebo effect which depending on what the affliction was might actually help

They make a weaker segment by bending it until it almost breaks before the cameras start rolling.
And Montell Williams is just as bad for giving that trash a platform to exploit and scam people
I always loved the Sylvia Brown episodes as a kid. She was on Oprah too, iirc. My mom was a faithful Montel viewer. 😂
@SouthernMamaMagic When I found out that she had told that couple their son was definitely dead when he wasn't, I never watched her again.

Lol I was gonna type this message, but I’m a tad late. Such a fun fact.
I'm actually more amazed that someone entered a legal battle with Nintendo and came on top.
Maybe Geller really has super powers.
Im not sure about the cards, but I heard it was the show that couldn't have kadabra or alakazam

clearly it was only in 2023 he ran out of original print cards to scalp off of being rare

Cards are different, and fairly accurate
@@MEGABYSS well once I predicted someone would get a ticket. And it did. And I do use it to communicate with deceased, because this is also what cards are made for, you can communicate through them with different things. I have Santa Muerte set and those I'm specifically using for reading with dead ones and the Death itself. However I'm using it with caution, and I don't use it with people who just lost someone, that's just wrong.
Tarot is not only for talking to someone's higher self, it is divination and communication tool

Peter Popoff, terrible....terrible terrible. His wife talking to him through an ear piece. TERRIBLE.
Legit thought bro was Chum-Lee from Pawn stars. 😂
I was 13 and I completely believed in Uri Geller's psychic abilities, up until THAT moment on The Tonight Show. I felt so foolish, I became a skeptic and remain so to this day.

The tv show had said “okay, what can you tell us about him?”
And he responded with “no , that’s your job right? The medium will contact him and you tell me about him yes?”
So he refused to give them any information.

At first, when you showed Johnny Carson, I thought for sure you were bringing up a Karnac clip!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
