Been looking for a separation breakdown for 25+ years. This harmony flows so well as the two together, It’s SO hard to separate for the person, like me, whom does EVERYTHING by ear just by listening to the song/album alone. Thank you so very much!
I've spent my life as a soprano and 1st clarinet, and now at 43 years old, for fun, I wanted to try to find the harmony on this song to sing with my cousins....and my god my brain is FIGHTING me with every iota of every muscle memory I have to force me back on the melody!!! This one is so hard! I've been going back and forth between your video and one that has the musical notation to lock this in my visual and aural memory. Thank you so much for isolating each part. I'll get it with your help, but man is it frustratingly beautiful!❤🎶
See, I find the harmony in this song easy. I think because it sits right in my chest voice and Nuno s delivery and tambre just make stick out. In fact, when the harmony starts in verse two, I sent even notice the harmony 🤣🥴
@@kelseykerrigan3137 harmonies come naturally to some and hard to others im the latter haha but I’ve made money doing it keep doing your best have you ever tried singing through a small straw into water? It helps me separate the parts for some reason and warms up your voice

Thanks for figuring it all for the rest of us:) I (someone with perfect pitch) have a hard time as I hear only the top line by Gary Cherone and going slowly to try to figure out Nuno part can be so frustrating. Top top content this is! PS. The one small thing I noticed at 7:41 - Alrea-DY - it only goes up by half step in the song, but you go up by a whole step. The notes are C#-D-back to C# for the "know". Don't wanna be a picky ass, just saying it in case noone else pointed it out. Peace!
I have found that it's a dissonant sounding harmony with a fighting ring. A long time ago I did a video on this song and I found that I had to correct that note.

Hi Marc, Our band is actively using this tutorial right now! I am truly amazed at your body of work!! But I would be remiss if I did not request two other "holy grail" of harmony songs ... Good Vibrations, and New Kid In Town. Are you aware that New Kid won a special Grammy award (that does not even exist any more) for the harmony arrangement? Both those songs have parts where both lyric harmonies and padding harmonies occur at the same time.
