you need to listen to yourself instead and shut off any noise. Focus on your own sound, it's the one that matters to you the most. It takes a lot of practice and patience :)
That is one of the most common struggles. Also why you see singers with their finger near their ear. They aren’t blocking it more pressing on the….. Teague (google image) which partially blocks but more so, makes you hear your voice louder in your own head and that makes it easier to focus on your voice and not slip into the other person. Hope that helps 🤷♂️
As a harmonist wanna be-er I would sing the one-note harmony with some songs just for the fun of it, but I had no idea it was a thing. I'm dumbfounded.... Love both your sweet voices.
try to keep a simple piano plugin on hand while u're recording and hit on the chordal note you're trying to harmonize so you get ur startign point right! keep practicing
You were looking for examples of songs that can use an upper pedal harmony? I stumbled across this singing this singing in my Dixieland 'band, "All Of Me" (in Bb) Words: "All of me.......why not take all of me .... can't you see...I'm so lost with". You can sing just a D and it sounds pretty good. Then you have to go to a Eb for "out you". The thing that really makes singing harmony a challenge is that you must sing both to the melody note and to the intended chord. The more complicated the chord progression and/or the melody, The harder it is. I have trouble with melodies that have a lot of arpeggios and/or leaps in them. "Darktown Strutters Ball", for example.
You ladies sound Devine! I would love to hear y'all harmonize to some Gospel songs! I'd love to learn how to do that better. I've been the harmony singer in my family for a long time but I don't feel that I ever did it correctly. Again, I love hearing y'all sing, keep it up!
I use this a lot. I've heard it called pedal point harmony where the pedal is not below but above. I'm not a front man singer, but I write out harmonies that I sing with my Dixieland Band. BTW, sometimes the 3rd works best over some sections, of course if the major 3rd gets doubled, it doesn't sound great. BTW, you girls sound great. You should try busking sometime. I had a friend do very well with his Simon and Garfunkel group in the street.
You make a great sounding duet! Please consider reacting to NIGHTWISH' rendition of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (End of an Era concert/DVD) To me this is the best version ever. I would love to hear your analysis, and whether you agree with me or not. (If not, I can take it.) Music is a matter of taste, but professional anlysis I welcome. Greetings from Finland!
The real tragedy here is that we do not have a full recording of you both singing Sound of Silence. You do not realize how painful it was to have that cut short.
My wife has good voice (better than me) and since I am a baritone I will harmonize an octave down, but this would be even easier. Just find the tonic and stay there.
My biggest struggle is that when I'm listening to someone else sing or listening to a melody, I subconsciously slip into the melody very easily.
Me too
Same bro

@@sheMessagesDo you also listen to instruments to help like ‘contextualize’ that vocal part?

2014 would have been a good time for me to learn this! Today is the second best time for me to learn this!
How are you doing now that a year has passed? Have you improved any or have you not been keeping up with practices?
It's actually oxytocin highs you are feeling. ❤ I researched this and proved it for my thesis. It's my fave high 😊
This is gold dust. I'm not the greatest singer for sure and found adding layers to my own recordings hard. Now I have a simple starting point to try!

@@dr.strawberry5773 thanks for that 😊

All the Simon and Garfunkel songs have incredible harmonies! One of my faves is Kodachrome .😁
Dang me. Wish I’d learned this when I was 15. Thank you!

Music prof here. You two are so adorable. Julia is like the dream best friend. Thanks for sharing!
I love how much fun they’re having together with this. ❤ Good tips on getting started with harmonies too. 🙂👍
Wow. I have always wondered why everyone can sing harmony and I can't. OMG Thank you ❤
This is usually how I sing but didn't know why it worked. Thanks so much, I'll continue on now.
I find that hard not rasy. As i can harminies with some songs with ease. But the one now is great. Thanks for lesson.
I LOVE YOUR COURSES ❤! Every single cent worth it!
OMG! Don't you want to create a track with Sound of silence? It's so beautiful, especially with your techniques. I really love it.
Harmony is hard but these great lady made it looks very easy
Thanks 🌸 & God bless you!!
My Biggest struggle is the harmony but if I'm singing the songs like for example Life is Blue by Fresh Fox, the harmony is changing.

Thank you ladies. You're videos are the easiest to follow.
Where do I find the Harmony course? Please and thanks.

Duh moments are good! 😄 Glad this was helpful!
Qu hermoso muchas Bendiciónes saludo desde Cali colombia
Last note harmonies was my favourite :)
Thank you so very much. It was beautiful.
This is the best explanation ever!!
Beautiful 👏👏👏. Michael Buble's song, "something stupid" is a good example of this kind of harmony.
Frank Sinatra's Something stupid! That's exactly the song I thought of as well!
Love this video - it currently has 222 likes so I didn't want to mess that up 😁
Haha, appreciate your consideration! 😄 Thanks for the love!
This Boy and If I Fell by the Beatles have some one note harmonies (I think) in places.
Oh nice, going to listen right now!
You beat me to it. “If I Fell” is one of my favorite songs ever.
You're so excellent singers♥️
most of the time i'll pick up the base line because it tends to be oblique style
Simon and Garfunkel are the epitome of perfect harmony.
The root note. If in key of C then C always works if in key of f sharp then the same.
Sooooo pretty!
love u guys
Faztaz move fast and shine bright like the stars

Glad this is helpful ☺

What I struggle with is going from a regular scale to a chromatic scale harmony
Gorgeous❤
