Hi there, I’m an Electrician in Australia but I can’t see how you can wire 2 seperate Tuya smart switches to be act as 2 way switches? The Google Docs link in your description is for a an online Sonoff device? Would you mind sharing the wiring diagram or even a pic of the back of that set up if you can please? I find normal 2 way switching very easy but no idea how I can do that with 2 smart switches that just have Line In, Neutral and Line Out?
The wiring is the same for Tuya as for Sonoff. Basically you wire the light to one of the switch individually, and the other switch is just wired to mains. And you create the 2 way switching in software. This is a pretty old video, since a group function was added in the app. You go into the light switch settings (3 dots on the top right) and you can group your devices together. And you don't even need to set up automation.
@@csongorvarga oh right, that makes sense it will not have a physical connection to the second switch or light but it simply changes the state of the other switch which actuates it’s contact! That makes sense, is there much of a lag through the software?
@@tristantrotter6814 Well yes it is not a physical connection. And it is a black box to me so I don't really know how the communication between the two switches are handled. When I tested it there was no noticeable lag. I would say if you pay attention you can feel that it is not instant, but nothing that would bother me. But since it is wireless and internet there are no guarantees. If you prefer the physical connection there are Tuya smart switch modules that have inputs to connect the regular light switch. Those can be used to connect the two light switches to them in a 2 way wiring. That retains the original physical connection but also gives you all the smart features.
I remember tumbling on a post somewhere how to flash custom firmware on Tuya devices. They all have similar ESP based chips. Of course it would be difficult to figure out which pins the relays and the buttons are connected to.
I'm an electrician so I fully understand how hard wired two/three way switching works. I just bought a house and there is no two way switching whatsoever. The switching is not ideal but I don't want to get in the ceiling and rehash anything. By the looks of this though, you can essentially have two way switching by making one switch actuate another switch which is amazing. My question is- if my internet is down, but my LAN wifi network is still working, will my tuya two way switching still work as programmed or will it not work due to not talking to the cloud?
Hi Varga, I came up with that programming myself too, end up with the same number of scenarios. But from time to time, if we press a button too quick, they will end up in infinite loop, and lights will turn into disco lights and then tuya will kick out the device from the app. As a software developer, I can’t see a better way to do it, as Tuya has missed an elseif condition. Let me know if you have another method. Cheers.
Yes, the Lin connects to the fixed live wire and the Lout goes to the lamp. And it is the same for both switches. And hopefully one of the small boxes that are provided for the no neutral switch will be enough for both of the switches. Give it a try. Rest in the app is the same.
Yes you can. Is quite Boring but works. In my case: create 4 new scenarios that duplicate 2 dimmer states. When dimmer is more than 80% send this (80%) to the other dimmer , when is less than 20% send this to the other dimmer.
I have two ways implemented using "Multi Control association" - basic feature of Smartlife App..... unless I have missed something, you are doing it the hard way.
No you did not. When I made this video, this feature was not available. My experinece that in multi control you can associate similar products, but when you gave very different products like a 1 gang switch need to be associated with the 3rd gang of a 4 gang switch, this is still useful technique.
It's so obvious AFTER someone tells you how to do... :-) Thanks!

@@csongorvarga perfect, thank you so much for your replies! Have a great day!
Thank you for review. Do you know if Tasmota is possible for this model?

Have you found an answer. I also need to know

Can this be done using the no neutral version of tuya smart switches? what would the wiring diagram be like? pls help

how are the wiring done?
Can similar automation be done for dimmers as well? Where dimming one switch leads to dimming the other switch as well?
No, as far as I remember, the dimmer only support on/off actions and not brightness

Will this make the automation goes into loop?
That is a good question but I did not see that happening. The system must prevent such circular referencing of scenes on each other.
Hi, do you know if this wirinf would work with aqara wall switches as well?
Yes, most probably, but I don't know how you can set up similar rules in the app for that switch.
Mine only works on the app, it doesn't not work when using the physical switch
Thank you so much ❤❤
You are welcome!
