Amcomm HB-1000 Penetrater Power Supply 10-11m Amplifier Redux

I worked on this not too long ago and after returning it, the owner was still having the same issue.
Turns out the pass transistor(tip3055) was weak and failed. I had tested it both in and out of circuit and for leakage and it was okay at the time.
I didn't have any TIP3055s but I do have a lot of 2N3055 so I used one of those. It's been a while and first mixed up Base and Emitter. You'll see.
This is a cool base unit amp. Roughly 150-220(am-SSB). Pegged my 100w meter.

I love this older RF stuff. The newer LDMOS amps are neat but kind of have no soul. I'll have my ham license soon so I can actually use this stuff on other frequencies.

Well done, with such a fiddly job. I was screaming at you to use a nut, bolt and star washer to mount the transistor (smaller dia than the original screw and with the bolt through from the opposite side), and for the collector, but assumed that you could hear me, had some and that the insulator was suitable. Easy for me to say, of course.

Thanks Ralph! Yeah I would rather have used an actual socket or the original transistor. But if course it was time sensitive and more importantly, cost controlled... So far it's okay and hopefully with the heat shrink it'll be insulated well enough.
