Cats dip their paw to the water and lick the water from the wet paw. I had a ginger cat, who did this. I have theory that ginger cats are more likely to do it. I read somewhere, that ginger cats might have a bit poorer eyesight/depth perception than other cats.
Ginger cats also seem to have that stuff in the corners of their eyes - I don't remember the English term, maybe rheum or something. Here we sometimes say "sleep sand" when we want to say it in the nice way - So anyway, that thing being very common it is very likely that something might being bothering ginger cats eyes. They might get dry eye or it might be that they also have something a little different in their eyes/vision.
Cats are sensitive about their whiskers so it has been theorized that this might also be a reason why some cats drink like that. Usually the water bowl is kind of narrow so their whiskers touch the sides of the bowl. By dipping their paw to the surface of the water they can also determine how low to put their heads without nose touching the water. So this might be the other reason why cats do this (eye sight/vision thing and/or sensitive whiskers/nose).
And - of course - If cats have waterfall-type of source of water they will play with the water. Obviously. They are cats 😼
And now I want to know, that which of Lee Know's cats drink like that - the ginger ones? Did Dory learn it from them or has he his own way to drink 🤔I think, that this is very important information that needs to be shared to the fandom of Lee Know's cats 😂
