You have the freedom to commemorate your birthday and not to celebrate. The difference is that if you commemorate your birthday as a specific point in time, to review where you are about your life and about your relationship with God, and also to review your achievement for the previous year and your goal for the year to come, and not exceed limit, I think that is permissible, because it will help you to grow. But celebration make you forget yourself for others with parties, and you even forget that you have loss one year of your life. God bless.
