Glory…. Try using ratchet straps at night. If you’re worried about people coming into the vehicle at night ….. You can use a ratchet strap around the drivers and passenger door handle and ratchet strap them closed….. You can do the same thing with the back doors also ratchet strap them together inside the van at night when you go to sleep 👍😎 I have padlocks on my van , I padlock myself in at night with four separate padlocks for all four doors in the van…… but before I did that, I used to ratchet strap for the drivers and passenger door
And when all else fails you can rely on the name of Jesus. I’ve seen a few videos of older ladies using it and it works. Look them up. Praying Mommas help tremendously as do Dads. And thankfully you have both. You are truly blessed.

You need three things 1~ American Citizenship, because we want you in this country. 2~ Concealed carry permit, it helps in many situations. 3~ a sweet handgun, because you can. Always be weary about discharging your spray from inside your truck, you don't want to miss perp and get a backwind back in your face, then your screwed! Oh by the way, your a badass! 🤠👍🏼
Hornet and wasp spray is the best it's not illegal anywhere, you spray it in their eyes they have to go to the hospital to get it washed out, plus it sprays a whole lot further
Glory I did van life in Alberta for 5 years. It's totally doable to boondock, in cities and towns. The rules are strict in national parks for everyone. I was also doing it as a solo female. I had 3 dogs with me so that does make a good security system. Don't let people tell you it's dangerous, getting in a vehicle and driving to a job every day and living in a city is just as dangerous.
I was doing van life back in the 1970's before in my home made bus with my hippie friends. Personally, i think women who do solo van life should have things to protect themselves with - Yet never get on social media to reveal what they have. I'm a professional commercial truck driver and i still do van life in my 2002 Ford Excursion. Of course, mine is laid out to the Tee. Enjoy and stay safe.

Bear spray in very low potency, like 1% capsaicin, and is not effective against people. Regular pepper spray is like 15%-18% capsaicin. It’s because bears and other wild animals have a very strong sense of smell compared to people, so it doesn’t take much to ward them off. Just putting this out there, for your own safety, don’t use it on an attacker without researching it first. I learned this when spending time in the mountains. Be blessed!

I got starlink for my truck and it is so awesome I can be anywhere and have internet but it's like 500 bucks for the hardware and 200 bucks a month for service. It is expensive but it's so so awesome you can get internet anywhere anytime and I love it can watch youtube or stream netflix in the middle of nowhere and it is fast like having it at home and it's great

I'd honestly carry more than a pocket knife n bear spray. I had lots of sketchy times but none that were too serious. However, I still kept a 6 in. hunting knife on me when I was alone. I hate guns now, but I've never had a problem with using a ball bat and hairspray w a lighter 😅😂
You’re in Canada after all, you have to have some Canada style ramen, and at least one Kraft Dinner, and some ketchup potato chips, or you aren’t getting the full experience! As long as you use a buggy when getting groceries, you will be rounding out the complete vibe!

A tip for you on internet from another traveller. Go to hotels when you are in tourist towns. Usually free in the lobby and lots of nice spots to sit and work. I have done this in many countries!

Even in a city, because I find cities to be quite dangerous with riots, protest, crime, murder etc. I've been alone for years and I lived in a campervan for 5 years as a solo female, it's no more dangerous then living in some of the apartments I rented before I got the camper, in fact my safety actually improved. So to say something is dangerous that you know nothing about is pure projection on your part.
I would suggest getting an air horn so you can scare the “bear” away but if the “bear” keeps coming then bear spray it is. Or hairspray. Any aerosol is unpleasant.

I would suggest getting an air horn so you can scare the “bear” away but if the “bear” keeps coming then bear spray it is. Or hairspray. Any aerosol is unpleasant.
