I didn't HATE it. Some of the jokes were clever on occasion, and the animation was technically impressive (esp compared to other CGI shows). But that's it.

I have to say that this show is a guilty pleasure for me. I always got invested in the side characters and some plotlines and definitely laughed at times. To this day I find the theme song more catchy then annoying.
I guess now I can better understand why some people can appreciate things that many consider being universally bad.
There's this one scene that I fondly remember and still sometimes think about-
It was the episode where Man Arctica was Santa. I think it was Chum Chum who set out some milk and cookies, to get him to come over. Nothing happened, so he went, "maybe it wasn't milk and cookies.. it was cookies and milk!"

Fanboy and Chum Chum was a show I used to watch sooo much, but as I got older, I drifted away from the show.
I actually find it really funny as a kid, but I really felt bad for the show for such a horrible reputation for getting chosen over Adventure Time. If Fanboy and Chum Chum really had more depths and character development, that would be different and interesting as long as I asked a few questions.
Where are the two protagonist's parents? What is Kyle's tragic backstory? What is the origin of Icy Freezy Freeze?

Like why can the goth guy use magic or do real superheroes exist in this universe (because clearly both of them walk around in costumes and have their own (treehouse) base)? We need to go deeper

honestly the show would've looked really good if it was animated completely in 2D. Sure, I can see they put a lot of effort into it, but these character designs work so much better in 2D.

Tbh, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Duck Tales and all those shows can get really stale. They follow the same formula: have most episodes and characters tie into later episodes and characters to give the illusion of depth. Fanboy and Chum Chum was legit entertaining for some reason
I liked Adventure time before it got serious. Sure there were funny moments sprinkled in the serious episodes and vice versa

It's really hard to make cartoony, stylized, and expressive 3D animation without a cinema budget, and yet this show managed to do that. That's really about all I can give it credit for, and that's not even a trait unique to this show.

I never understood the mass hatred of this show. I always thought the humor was clever, the characters were funny as hell, and the plots were pretty imaginative and interesting. The animation is extremely unique and very well done especially for the time. This wasn't some cash-grab, there was a lot of love that went into this show. Shame that the mass hate of this show got it canned.
