He shouldn't of had to reinvent himself so many times thus far to capitalize off earlier success. I like this Drake, the Drake that feels real. His new album Honestly Nevermind is a perfect example of what I mean. Might aid in the longevity of his career but for a lot of the older fans it just feels fake and manufactured.
Drakes a machine now. Wealth and access to everything you could ever want in life changed him. Rightfully so. Imagine having $20k…. Now you $200 million plus to your name. Shits different.
I was listening to J Cole's False Prophets and this flow popped into my head. Would kill for Drake to drop something like this again, it just has so much heart.
Jeff Rayborn same. I don't even like him anymore which is wild cause I was obsessed with him when this came out. You couldn't tell me then that I wouldn't love Drake today. His style is trash to me currently.
I honestly don't care that Drake "changed." He still kills every track and spills his heart just like he did on his old mix tapes. His life changed, therefore so did his music. I still love Drake, old or new, he's still one of the realest rappers out there.
+neutronthekid34 Hey! I noticed you enjoy this song and I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kai, I am a rap artists. I make music similar to Drake, Blu, Common with a chill smooth vibe. Since you like this song would you mind if I share one of my songs with you called, "Sexy Senorita" and get your opinion?
My moms 65 and she loves the Weeknds new album, we were talking about it on a long drive. Out of no where she said you know that big Toronto rapper? ( she has mild dementia so his name escaped her mind) I said Drake! She said yes, what happened to him? He use to sing from his heart and now he’s only rapping. I explained supply and demand to her. She said I loved soulful drake, the world needs more of his heart right now. God bless her, if only it was this simple. I agree with her, I fell in love with Marvins room and Successful and that was it.
I remember burning drake mixtapes CDs and playing them in my car trying to convince friends and family that he could spit. Needless to say I got laughed at a lot. But this song will always be a gem.
Yaaas mixtape Drake. He is the same in terms of what inspires him. He wasn't on so he was super eagar to succeed. Now he is successful and raps about how his success changes the people around him. ie Trophies and hotlinebling. Its amazing how he is one of the few artists you can listen to from the botton (1st song he posted on myspace) till now. #superfan
Drake still gives plenty of good conceptual and lyrical rap songs, Started from the bottom is just a Catchy club song that doesn't need complex lyrics.
Sadly THIS Drake is what is gone. Wow seems like this came out ages ago. Remember it like yesterday Things change..never stay the same. One of my favorites by him.
We have reached the "I miss the old kanye" feeling for Drake. Used to listen to this in high school. I think he has changed and adapted to the market. Let's be honest. This is a gem because it was not popularized neo randb and rap aka that annoying pop music he puts out.
Drake is still very talented and very lyrical as well. He just got into the industry and now he has more lucrative topics to rap about which will, in turn, change his flow. He could honestly do this shit right now if he wanted to. DRAKE IS AN UNFORGETTABLE HIP-HOP GREAT.
My favorite old school drake song. It's really the one that made me say he really about to blow up. And dam I was right!!! What drake song made u know he was gonna be that dude??
It Feels Good to hear Drake Rap about What we found ourselves being able to relate to at that time. I was Fresh outta High School during this time,so ofcourse a song about not finding the right girl combined with some of the best days of your life instantly makes this a Hit!!!!
Listening to this drake is refreshing. The skill is still there, but the new drake. listening to the new drake sounds like a r&b artist who can rap well and not vice versa.
I try to tell people all the time, Drake is a beast. This dude just hits all the right spots in everything, he's a lyrical genius, seriously and I love it. he always got a story to tell.....most definitely goin in my favs

First time hearing....04/13/2024. I haven't given Drake an honest listen. But there's a reason for that. The first time......the VERY FIRST time I heard his voice, I was in a movie theater. A Sprite commercial came on....and I heard "First name, greatest. Last name, eva." I said, "Niqqa, I don't even know who you are! Greatest M.B.A!!!" So......having been born in 74 and lived through every evolution of hip-hop, he rubbed me the wrong way. I love arrogance, but this was a bridge too far. Over the years, I've mostly ignored him. I finally listened to a full song when "Started from the Bottom" came out. I enjoyed it. And that was pretty much it accept for hearing him in some collaborations here and there. But I was just letting my RUclips run and some documentary came up and when this song title was mentioned, I decided to come check this out. It's very good. I will give him a lil more time in my ear and hopefully come across some more enjoyable tunes.
I remember BUYING this mixtape. I was hyped when I copped it off of his myspace. I'm kinda sad now that it's free but it was definitely worth the money.

R.I.P Drake of message and good rap
Lucas plug.dj so this is the drake that made "started from the bottom" ?? holy shit
