    Everything's nice, food looks really good and it must be really tasty, but those thumb nails of mr. Jimmy look freaking scary. Looks like some kind of Onychomycosis, I would be afraid to try those dishes...

    Yes o agree, the finger on the chef is riddled with fungal infection. He should get that looked it, It's not appetizing. But the videos are awesome. Thanks for putting them up Mark.

      Its not only meant to add aroma...it is made to be eaten too. I use it in some of my dishes but thinly sliced and minced. It's to your preference...if you want to eat it or not.

    That laksa/rojak stall had a sign given by the TV food review show Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan. it showed that the food by that stall should be very tasty and recommended. Greetings from Malaysia!

      slobdog21 Great to hear you bought a tree. For palm sugar, you just use it normally in dishes that include it.

      slobdog21 ppl usually replace palm sugar with brown sugar. The taste is different of course, but yaa... when no choice.

    I was riding here last year. And by the time I reached the waterfall it was kinda dark.
    Of all the food I had there, my favorite top of the list was Somtham (green mango salad) and the worse one being 'Hyderabadi Biryani' (cos I'm from that actual place and what they presented me on the place took me by shock)
    May be we'll run into each other some day Mark :)

    I think the toasted coconut that you mentioned in the rendang is what we called 'kerisik'. Grated coconut is toasted in a pan until browned. Then it is pounded using mortal and pestle to release its oil. An essential ingredient in cooking rendang. And another great video, Mark! Glad you enjoyed Malaysian dishes.
