Yeah but when Jake was older he had some great scenes with Charlie. Losing Charlie killed the show. I, as a lot of other people I know never watched another episode after Charlie was fired. I was a fanatic of the show but refused to watch with Ashton Kutcher.

Angus T Jones leaving the show really made it more crappy than it was after Charlie Sheen left. Jon Cryer and Angus were the two guys holding the show after Charlie Sheen left. Then Angus left coz he said that the show was sort of anti-christ and Chuck Lorre had to write him off. But at least he made some more appearances on the show after he left. When the commercials for the series finale of the show aired and they showed Angus was returning for the finale, a lot of people assumed Charlie Sheen would make an appearance too considering he had made peace with CBS studios and Chuck Lorre.
The show was at the top of its form in these days. Sheen going nuts and Jake growing up plus the lack of decent scripts really killed the show. I doubt if anyone could of saved it

For Jake not to be academically inclined is one thing, but they went way overboard in making him so dumb. Had he been similar to how he was in the earliest seasons, but, you know, tackling increasingly mature themes, I think it'd be way more believable and potentially funnier.
