I used to work for USDA ARS and would never recommend this Department/Agency to certain people due its bad reputation of discrimination. I never thought I’d say something like this in a million years, but it’s true. I lived the nightmare and stayed only for 1 year and 8 months. It was so bad that myself and 3 other colleagues resigned within a span of 2 weeks.
Do you mind sharing more about your experience? I was considering applying to a USDA ARS job, but I really have no idea what the work environment might be like.
I work for the USDA Office of Field operations as a compliance inspector. Honestly I have been working in the USDA for 6 months and I absolutely love it. I’m a recent college graduate so I’m looking forward to jumping the GS pay scale with time.
Nice man.. I just started with corps of engineers. It’s a 7/9/11 progression. Way more computer heavy than I realized it would be.. which is good cause I need to learn how to use computers efficiently. Relaxed environment. Hope it treats you well.
I've been working for USDA for 20+ years and have NEVER had a blackout leave period. I've always been able to take my leave when I needed it. In fact, I've never been told that I couldn't take leave in 20+ years. So I'm not sure which agency you were referring to about the blackout period for leave, but I've never heard of this.
A lot of stuff is area-dependent. Where I work (a part of the Australian public service), you would be expected to either have a regular work cycle or cram overtime when the reports are due (and get to take the time off when they aren't).
@@armandcuret1 cool. Thanks. I just got started as a contract specialist with the Corps of Engineers. It’s challenging. It’s a 5/7/9/11 job but my GPA got me in as a 7 and then I negotiated my step.. I’m learning a lot and am content for now 👍🏽
I work for a USDA sub agency and taking/using leave time at any time is never a problem, and I've never seen it be a problem with anyone who works in our particular agency -- and I'll tell you, some people I know are pretty generous in taking leave a few times a week.
This sounds more like a supervisor issue than a department/division policy Issue. I would imagine working in DC in finance being higher stakes than what other folks in USDA deal with
We need help in our country please help us I just want to raise our children healthy I'm tired of reading everything before I buy them why are they doing this to us why can London have real ingredients but we can't and plus everything is getting expensive I can't servive like this please help us I have 3 year old and a 4 year old please if thares anyone out there please help us banned GMO please lock up bill gates please give us our organic farmers back HELP!
I thought it was common knowledge that the pay is dogshit and the conditions and job security make up for it, but it's shockingly not. (Then again, this is my experience working for a different government while hearing news that makes me more than suspect it applies overseas).

To each of his/ her own. DOJ is the worst. Horrible place
Always enjoy learning about how other departments and agencies work!! Thanks Armand!
No problem. And thanks to you, I feel like you have been with me and the channel for over a year now!

I believe it's for certain employees working in the (OCFO) office of the chief financial officer in USDA.

Armand, do you have a video about what it is that you do?
Hi. No, I don’t think so but if you are interested in what I do you could check out my LinkedIn page, it’s public.

Nice. I was in the Corps of Engineers while in the Army. Are you in Missouri by chance?
@@armandcuret1 no, I’m in Kentucky. I work in a federal building and the only service members I work with are 51Cs.
I turned down USDA. GS-9 step 10. I use to be a GS-12 step 5
There is no way I'm working for an agency with blackout dates for leave

Huh, environmentalist-nutjob.exe stopped working.
Sounds like a lot of taxpayer money wasted to me
People like you are the reason nobody wants to work for the government.
