Best video for the GM install. Using as a small guide for my 2009 Silverado. Same set up except for the video wire harness. Great work! I'm used to the old school stuff where it was just one small harness so this is a God send.
I guess this is worth a shot as I see you"ve been clutch in offering others solutions to wiring issues in this comment section. I just finished installing a JVC KW-V250BT in a 2011 GMC Sierra 1500. Non-amplified. Used GMOS-LAN-01 in conjunction with ASWC-1 Everything is working as it should except that I have no steering wheel controls. I went throught the GMOS initialization as instructed and then the ASWC-1 as instructed. Everything seems to be correct as I end up with a solid red light on the ASWC unit. Started with the rapid green/ red flash while I tapped the vol. up button on the steering wheel. Following that I get the 7 green flashes followed by a series of red and then a solid red light. According to Axxess instructions i think that means I should be all set. No such luck. If you or anyone can provide any insight, i'll be grateful.
Those look like a lot of wires to put back in the little compartment behind the radio. I know it’s pretty tight as far as room goes already . Is there a certain way to tuck them in where you don’t have to cram the radio back in. Tks
Very nice video! Thank you for sharing. Does the rear screen work like stock with the remote and sound running separately through the wireless headphones while the driver listen to something else through the speakers?
Typically the headphones will no longer work when you replace the stereo. However, i cannot confirm that as this was a customer vehicle and i only had it in my possession for a few hours.
I am loving these videos super helpful! At least the dash trim is easy to get off haha. First aftermarket install I did was on a 93 chevy beretta, it took 9 crimps and it was done haha.
great video, very informative. I too have a pioneer (x4700bs) and an '07 tahoe LT. I followed your directions piece by piece and everything seems to be working correctly except audio. I hear very little sound. I have to turn the volume all the way to the max just to hear the music, to which the music is still very faint. funny thing is I can connect my subs and the bass plays perfectly. Any suggestions where to start looking, or any ideas what may be interfering/setup incorrectly? I've played around with this thing for hours, exhausting every setting
You need to adjust the gain on the Metra Wiring Harness, there is a little knob to adjust and you need to turn it up. That will solve your low volume issue.
Provo Beast Audio Installation yeah, that was one of the things I've adjusted it and although the volume does slightly increase, the volume is still low. I have all of the correct speaker wires connected... stripes to stripes and solids to solids. I'm starting to think maybe I have a non-speaker wire incorrectly hooked up because this morning while driving to work, when I put my turn signals on, I can hear a "ticking" sound coming somewhere from behind the unit. Also, not sure if this matters, but when I disconnect the remote wire connection, I no longer hear any sound? Any ideas? Especially about the turning signal "ticking" behind the unit?
Provo Beast Audio Installation following your video, I did have that mute wire connected but even disconnecting it made no difference. I borrowed a volt meter to check the current flowing to my headunit harness and all of my essentials are pulling power.. yellow (12v), red (12v), speakers (5-6v) etc. What's interesting is if I remove the tray underneath the cup holders (in the middle console) there is another harness underneath, and from there I can tap into the rear speaker wires. When I do that, the back speakers work just fine. So I ended up disconnecting everything to the radio harness but the yellow, black, and speaker wires and still nothing. Actually, whenever I disconnected the remote wire (blue and white), the low sounding speakers stopped playing completely. I got so desperate I even disconnected the steering wheel control module and the GMOS-LAN-02 device. After doing so, with only yellow and black connected to the radio, I took 2 of the speaker wire from the radio harness and touched the speaker pins on the input terminal to the GMOS-LAN device and the speakers play fine. At this point, I don't even know what to do anymore except manually connect the harness speaker wires.. which I shouldn't have to do because this $100 device is supposed to do that for me. I literally almost have the same year tahoe as the one in your video (2007) as well as pioneer radio (x4700bs) with the same accessory hookups (GMOS-LAN-02 and ASWC-1). So I don't understand why I'm getting different results from you. Can you make sense of what I've explained?
Also, for anyone else wondering, that "turn signal clicking" sound that was coming from behind the headunit is the little relay-looking plug on the GMOS-LAN-02 wire
Best video I’ve found. It’s my third one watching. Will be installing a double din on my sistsers 07 Tahoe, I’m not sure if it has a factory amp or rear flip down screen though
Great video thank u for it. I need to install AVH-Z5050BT in my GMC Yukon 2012 so can you plz help me to order the right harness cable from Sonic web site or Amazon?
The harnesses for xm radio seem to be expensive and dont work very well....thats why i assume people just get a tuner and antenna and install themselves.Thanx for your help anyway, great videos....!!!
I just recently installed a Boss stereo in a 2011 suburban and just wondering why I can’t retain the rear dvd and the power steering controls also. Thanks
I may have been said already but, the Microphone (for calls and what not) is already in the truck. It’s right by the front map lights and dome/door light control switch. it is in the slots closest to the driver or centered (I have mine centered but a guy in my unit has his closer to the driver) Great video though.
i followed all your steps and it worked fine thank you. i am wondering if there is a bypass or something else i can do to use radio in the front in double din stereo. and still be able to use the dvd player at the same time
Depends on the radio. Some radio models have dual outputs, meaning, you can run the radio at the same time as running the dvd player, but depends on the radio. I know some higher end pioneers have that functionality. If you are looking to bypass the parking brake warning, the bypass we used can be searched on amazon or ebay.
Everything works fine except there's no retained memory every time I shut the car off and turn it back on I have to reprogram the radio. What did I miss?
hey i have an 07 Yukon xl with the rear DVD system when i plug the wire harness in i get no sound but when i touch the remote (amp) turn on from the radio harness to the power antenna on the other side of the harness i get sound but there is feed back.. how do i get sound out of my speakers with out touching the power antenna???
Hi can you give me the list of parts I need to connect a pioneer receiver on a 07 Silverado classic with steering controls and the delay for the chime please
Hi got a question if you got time for it. This video is for installing the aftermarket head unit with the factory stero set up. But if I already installed an Amp and subwoofer at a different point in time to the factory head unit, what changes are made from this video to hook up the new head unit with the Amp and subs?
My dvd player had 7 connectors into the back and my new wiring harness does not plug into the factory connectors. I can’t seem to find anything that will work with my system. What am I missing?
Hi. Thank you for the great video. I have 2012 Tahoe with Navigation that I want to replace with a better Bluetooth stereo. Would you happen to be able to recommend a decent replacement? I do have a Jensen vx7528 that I would like to use, but I'm have trouble finding a mounting kit that will work.
I have a 2013 Chevy Tahoe with no navigation and I want to add the navigation but I want the back up camera to come thru the radio. But I have the back up camera in rear view mirror
Is there a connector or device that you are able to listen to the radio in the front and still be able to play a DVD in the back using wireless headset from the factory,
Hey. What are the name brands or websites I can get the tv control and steer wheel controls. This video was awesome because I'm installing a new DVD radio to my 2012 suburban pretty soon. Ohhh yea, subwoofers I could put in or have it hooked up to my existing speakers.
I have a 2013 suburban will the rear control still work for the radio will heated seats still work will remote start still work will rear a/c control still work has a Bose system
2008 avalanche, a friend installed a touch screen for me and now I have NO radio. I bought some wires for it and installed myself but now it tries to keep giving me a back up camera? I noticed he taped multiple wires together. Would that short stuff out?
U dont need a bypass module. U just connect the parking brake wire to the ground. Thats what it does when u have ur parking brake on, it touches ground
360 can work with this unit ? What model you will recommend for avalanche 2009 this model with touch screen backup camera with mic and head screen ? Last question if I want to install 360 backup camera with you recommend unit ?
Hello! I have a Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ 2010 and I bought a double din Android 10, Eonon GA2187. I would like to know if I will need the micro bypass in order that the rear monitor of my truck works.
I did this install tonight with a pioneer 5800bhs everything works great except I forgot to order the AV wire for the rear screen coming in 3 days. Problem I'm having is the ASWC-1 isn't recognizing my inputs and just flashes red and green. Not sure what I should try next.
what if you have double flip down DVD view screens ? (2013 suburban) does it require yet another cable Or does that one RCA type connection work for both screens? and what about the wireless head sets? are those tied to the radio? to the screens?
As far as i know, the one cable works for both screens. Secondly, typically the wireless head sets only are retained with the factory radio, not the aftermarket ones unfortunately.
my 2012 tahoe ltz is completely different plugs and every kit that says it works have the wrong plugs any idea i have the bose system but no one has any info on it
I am gonna do a radio upgrade for my wife. It's a Kenwood unit that is in there now. The unit was there when she bought it the Yukon used. Is it safe to say(without pulling the unit) that if the steering controls work, it has the module already there? Also, the backup camera is working and its the factory camera that displays on the rear view mirror. I'll need to reroute that to the new unit. Is that easy to do?
Hey man I am wanting to purchase this since my factory radio went out. I have a 2014 Chevy Tahoe Lt, with dvd , Bose and a factory backup camera in the rear view mirror. If I buy this stereo how can I hook it up to factory cam
For sure, check with sonic electronix using their vehicle fit guide and you can find the kit that works best with the features you have installed. 5% of if use ProvoBeast coupon code
Does this install retain ALL rear functions? Infotainment system and all? Will the back seat still be able to listen to media separately from the front seat if desired etc. ?
Curious as to if you know whats the best place to run the ACC wire on an aftermarket stereo in a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 new body style with out using the harness adapters?
Yes, that's what I'm referring too, all I have to do is line the colors right or is there a wire that I need find and connect it too? How would I know which wire to connect to it... 2008 tahoe thanks for the help
Yep, that is correct. It depends on the wiring kit adapter you purchased. If you have the same one used in the video, the wiring kit includes the light green wire of which you connect the new radio's parking brake wire to.
refer to 5:20 in the video, it will show you the wire to connect to. If you new GM wiring harness adapter does not have the parking brake wire, you will need to wire your new radio to the parking brake down in the kick panel on the drivers side.
1st. Where were you able to shove all those wires and boxes in the back of the dash? 2nd does the factory trim work with that double din adpater. My dashbezel does not fit anymore.
Are the same steps needed for a 07 Tahoe with factory nav/touch screen double din ? I have yet to find a video to give me info. I’ve seen nothing but videos like this Tahoe head unit.
I have a question? What is the possibility of maintaining/adding any harness that works factory Satellite Radio or would i need to purchase a new satellite antenna?
Few quick ?s. I understand what you are doing in video and very thankful for your time spent explaining it so straight forward. But want to run a 5 channel amp instead of bose amp so. 1. If I'm going to be taking out my bose amp and sub. Is the kit to keep chimes and on star still needed? Or would this be 100% wiring? 2. Did you find it necessary to run and hi to low pass to not have a hi pitch sound with it?
If you are going to install your own amp, you will still need a harness adapter that provides chimes / warning sounds because this harness also retains the option for an ignition RAP wire for your radio. However, you don't necessarily have to get the bose version of the harness if you are replacing it to begin with.
I purchased a pioneer double din unit. What do i need to buy to install it in my 2013 chevy impala. I already bought the video bypass and dash kit, but i noticed the black box thing you had and not sure what that is and if i need to buy it. Thanks
why is my bezel so hard to get off? I've done lots of stereos and I've never had any trouble taking trim off before but I feel like I'm going to break something on this thing...
I got acouple questions so can you still use the rear input rcas in the center console? Also can you still shut the rear speakers by pressing the power button on the back of the center console? Can you summon a voice assistant by pressing the voice assistant on the steering wheel?
Hello, I have a question where I can connect the cable that is blue/pink wire to the vss/ speed sense wire on my gmc Yukon Denali with navigation 2014.
Great install video! I was looking on Amazon for the usb/aux flush mount kit, and i can not find it. Can you provide a link or some wording that would help?
Had a pioneer double din touchscreen installed with the stereo install kit, the interface, antenna adapter & steering wheel control kit. If I wanted to reinstall the factory radio & have the original sounding chimes & turn signals then what would need to be done?
If you are still monitoring this, I did a similar install on the same truck setup. For some reason I have no rear sound and no rear video. I used the maestro idatalink, plus the appropriate adapters. Any thoughts on what my issue is? Unfortunately I did this on a used truck I just picked up and I don't know if they worked before I started.
I have a 2012 GMC Yukon I'm thinking getting the same stereo system for me where do you get the wire harness and steering wheel control to install it ? The way you do it it looks easy
I have an 07 tahoe, very nice video. the only issue I'm having is when I push the bake pedal the sound shuts off, could that be solved with the micro bypass?
Looks like you have done a great job there. I am working on a Chevy Silverado 2013 that is quite similar to your. If i have i factory back up camera that is outputted to the rear view mirror could i reroute to the pioneer or both?
Yes, you can. If you remove the plug out of the back of the mirror, there are two wires you can tap into for the positive and negative video wire. Those are your two video wires, White is positive and blue is negative. Connect the white wire to the positive on your RCA wire and Blue to the negative black wire on your RCA wire. That will be your video signal you can run to your new radio.
Ty for the video I bought the same connectors u have on here but still having issues with the steering wheel controls tried to program it like you did but not having any luck any help would b appreciated
It may be a wiring issue, or it may be a programming issue. It's tough to diagnose through RUclips comments, so i suggest taking it to a local car audio shop for assistance.
Hey Great video...!!! it saved me a lot of $$$$....But i installed a pioneer head unit, everything works fine except the rear radio controls....any idea how to get them connected to the head unit??
Its rare to retain the functionality of the rear radio controls, to my knowledge, there isn't a way to retain those. Aftermarket radios also will not have the functionality to retain those features. A drawback of replacing the radio.
I have an older Pioneer x2700bt in a 2011 sub with RSE, rear controls are retained with a RP5-GM31(not my install, someone else did it). Still I had the issue that I could hear the DVD only through the car speakers, the IR headphones had no function. Reason is the pioneer got a video (only) out for the rear screens, but no audio. I solved this today with 3 cinch adapters. After pulling out the radio you see three cinch going in the radio, this is the aux vido input from the rear console. I just unplugged them, connected them to the 3 cables going to the rear seat screens, put a video at the rear console video in and voila, the IR headphones were working and the video was shown on the two rear screens. This way I implemented a dual zone functionality without having a radio supporting dual zone, at cost of 5$. Still need to work to be able to phase in the rear video to the pioneer in case we want to hear the video through the car speakers... Thinking to look for a video switch and putting a button near the dash for it..
After installing the radio did your rear tv stay on all the time or can u power it off / on with the remote for the tv I can turn my tv off now ut stays on all the time unless turn the radio off also I can't use the infra red headphones units that go with the tv
I'm having a problem with my 2012 chevy Surburban, my new DVD Stereo player is hooked up. But my 2nd and 3rd row tvs aren't working or turning on. So you have any clue. Can you please help me.

I sure could use your help in installing my aftermarket unit.
I’ve been searching everywhere for a 7” touch screen double din install bracket, I really hope this one works!
Works well.
Provo Beast Audio Installation it doesn’t work, I had to downgrade to a 6.2” touch screen. Didn’t want to have to do a bunch of modifications
Links to everything would’ve been clutch
Links change, but parts listed in description. Here is also an updated version of this video: ruclips.net/video/bpk1MkjqCZ8/видео.html

Amazing how flat the back side of car stereos are now flat also. Compare to the bulky metal piece in this video.
Were you able to keep the rear entertainment functional with the aux ports and everything?
Yep!
After the new install, are you still able to watch the movies in the back and listen to the music in the front at the same time?
It depends on the radio you purchase. IF you want that feature with the new setup, you need a radio that has the "Dual Zone" option built in.

Is it safe to say(without pulling the unit) that if the steering controls work, it has the module already there? Also, the backup camera is working and its the factory camera that displays on the rear view mirror. I'll need to reroute that to the new unit. Is that easy to do?
Bought everything here you have listed but cant get overhead video to work at all
Hey man I am wanting to purchase this since my factory radio went out. I have a 2014 Chevy Tahoe Lt, with dvd , Bose and a factory backup camera in the rear view mirror. If I buy this stereo how can I hook it up to factory cam
hi there would that retain kit works with the park assist? If not, Is there one that works for the park assist?
For sure, check with sonic electronix using their vehicle fit guide and you can find the kit that works best with the features you have installed. 5% of if use ProvoBeast coupon code
pac-05 will keep all rse controls in the back work plus the IR
Dude that was beautiful I mean superb everything is clean and neat I'm getting mines done just like it if everything turns out right!!!
Does this install retain ALL rear functions? Infotainment system and all? Will the back seat still be able to listen to media separately from the front seat if desired etc. ?
That’s super clean it looks nice what’s sizes is the stereo???
Where can I find the back up factory camera wire. It is currently wired to the rear view mirror screen.
Curious as to if you know whats the best place to run the ACC wire on an aftermarket stereo in a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 new body style with out using the harness adapters?
Fuse box
My rear speakers are not working after installation… any thoughts?
Haven’t tried new speakers yet
Yes, that's what I'm referring too, all I have to do is line the colors right or is there a wire that I need find and connect it too?
How would I know which wire to connect to it... 2008 tahoe
thanks for the help
Yep, that is correct. It depends on the wiring kit adapter you purchased. If you have the same one used in the video, the wiring kit includes the light green wire of which you connect the new radio's parking brake wire to.
refer to 5:20 in the video, it will show you the wire to connect to. If you new GM wiring harness adapter does not have the parking brake wire, you will need to wire your new radio to the parking brake down in the kick panel on the drivers side.
I have a 2014 yukon denali and the grey harness is not the same as yours is there a different harness i could use to retain my rcas in the back?
We didn't run a high to low pass filter since we retained the factory bose unit. fine. no whine in the radio.
I purchased a pioneer double din unit. What do i need to buy to install it in my 2013 chevy impala. I already bought the video bypass and dash kit, but i noticed the black box thing you had and not sure what that is and if i need to buy it. Thanks
Approximately how long for the complete removal and install?
why is my bezel so hard to get off?

Perfect Thank You!!
Had a pioneer double din touchscreen installed with the stereo install kit, the interface, antenna adapter & steering wheel control kit. If I wanted to reinstall the factory radio & have the original sounding chimes & turn signals then what would need to be done?
THANKS A MILLION 07 SUBURBAN LT KENWOOD DDX 394
Antoine did you use the aswc1 if so how did you hook it up
If it my radio requires me to connect the light green and purple pink wire to the harness from the car..what wires do I connect it to?
If you are still monitoring this, I did a similar install on the same truck setup. For some reason I have no rear sound and no rear video. I used the maestro idatalink, plus the appropriate adapters. Any thoughts on what my issue is? Unfortunately I did this on a used truck I just picked up and I don't know if they worked before I started.
I have a 2012 GMC Yukon I'm thinking getting the same stereo system for me where do you get the wire harness and steering wheel control to install it ? The way you do it it looks easy
I installed the same harness and steering wheel controls for my 2009 Silverado with an AVH 291- BT Radio but it isn’t working.
I have an 07 tahoe, very nice video. the only issue I'm having is when I push the bake pedal the sound shuts off, could that be solved with the micro bypass?
no, shouldn't be, double check all your connections and ensure you have everything connected properly.
Provo Beast Audio Installation Thanks I'll do that and let you know
Looks like you have done a great job there.
That will be your video signal you can run to your new radio.

thanks for the replay
Ty for the video I bought the same connectors u have on here but still having issues with the steering wheel controls tried to program it like you did but not having any luck any help would b appreciated
It may be a wiring issue, or it may be a programming issue. It's tough to diagnose through RUclips comments, so i suggest taking it to a local car audio shop for assistance.
I ordered the Metra Axxess GMOS-LAN-01 LAN, but instead I got the AXDIS-GML29. Is this the same interface or what?
What if i dont want the movie on my screen but just the back screens?
After installing the radio did your rear tv stay on all the time or can u power it off / on with the remote for the tv I can turn my tv off now ut stays on all the time unless turn the radio off also I can't use the infra red headphones units that go with the tv
I'm having a problem with my 2012 chevy Surburban, my new DVD Stereo player is hooked up. But my 2nd and 3rd row tvs aren't working or turning on.
So you have any clue.
Can you please help me.
