    For a apples to apples comparison you should have reviewed the Bora Portamate Speedhorse XT Adjustable Height Sawhorse not the standard cheaper version.

    I only see the track system on the Kreg being an alternative, Bora also has adjustable model, don't get me wrong Kreg makes some awesome products and I own a lot of them, reviews should just be apple to apples

    Great, honest and realistic review. In my experience they both serve a very handy and useful purpose. Bora for cutting sheet and stock lumber, and Kreg for working and finishing smaller pieces or assembling.

    You could use 2x6 or 2x8 or 2xwhatever for the sides on the speed horse to bring up the work space level to what ever you want. Also, the speedhorse will store under your roller toolbox whereas the Kreg will not.

  • @AlexLaffrenier

    I wouldn't exactly call this an unbiased review. First 4 minutes was spent on nitpicking issues with the sawhorse and not even knowing all of its features. For example, the fold down steps for handling sheet goods as I see somebody else mentioned as well, and then covering all the things that " I like about " the track horse. You spent some time nitpicking about the 3/16 of an inch gap between the 2x4 and the top of the speed horse but there's a very evident similar gap between the 2x4 on the Kreg and the 2x4 that you slid into the track.
    I appreciate the effort and the fact that you mentioned right from the start that you had a preference. But an unbiased review not a chance

    Good review. I can’t count number of times I’ve had difficulty clamping something to the top of a portable horse w/out a flat bottom. Kreg design fixes that in spades. Additionally they’ve fully one upped the competition in creating a rail system with the removable tabs. The ingenuity of this design has obvious benefits when combined with an MFT style top with bushings attached. The tabs for rails which have accuracy and repeatability built in allows the rail a much higher level of utility as the rail has additional utility and could serve as a fence with graduations and/or support/registration with a track saw. I’ve recently invested time in an MFT top for the Bora Centipede which I’m very happy with but I can see these Trackhorses may have been my preferred base. These are much more than ordinary sawhorses.
    PS. The fold outs near the bottom of the Bora are a very useful tool for anyone who hangs doors and mortises hinges; allowing the door to be supported on edge against the body of the horse.

      Excellent comment. Thank you for being a valued subscriber and viewer. I totally agree with the utility of the Kreg track horses. People automatically assume I was biased cause I liked them more but I was as honest as I could be considering how much better the Kreg really is in real life.

    I have both and I prefer the speed horse better for my use here is why. I find that the with makes them more stable then the kreg. If you turn the Kreg into a 4 feet table and add weight they will tip over found out the hard way. The Kreg are well made and I’m not saying it’s a bad product but it will depend on your needs. I find the speedhorse low in hight but a 2x6 or 2x8 makes the right adjustments.

    Had a speedhorse leg fold up on me with 2 sheets of 18mm MDF just yesterday. Messed it up. I sideloaded the bench setup with about 50 to 100 lbs of force. The undamaged leg won’t lock securely. I’ve found them wobbly and heavy, and a bit short. After 3 years, and light shop use, I will retire them.

    ToughBuilt C700 is half the price of the Kreg and has some great features. That is my preference.
    The side steps are for holding plywood when you can only work with one saw horse. Then you can make your cuts vertically.

      You're very welcome. A good set of horses will improve any home improvement project. As long as you have a nice sheet of plywood you can whip up a work surface in no time and get cracking. It's such a great time/effort saver. I see workers every day using old school horses and immediately see how unsafe the surface is and how their productivity is also suffering from not having a good sturdy height adjustable surface. Glad I could help you make your decision. Which one did you end up going with?

    Where you do the 2x4 is for plates so that you can easily saw off a piece. I have C700 from toughbuild and I like it very much. Only the T-track is a very nice extra to the kreg.

    Helpful review. The Bora Speed Horse XT is height adjustable to 36". Both items will likely suffice for most DIYers. I came here after I narrowed my choices to Kreg (love their tools) and Bora. Now it's down to pricing.

    • @youmbgtube
      @youmbgtube 3 года назад +1

      I use Toughbuilt C700's for my 4x8 work table but looking at the Bora XT's for quick setup and they adjust from 30-36 whereas the C700 is 25-32. Such a decision keep the C700's or get the XT's. (There is another video on Bora that shows them bending a bit under side-load. The C700's are strong in this respect. Bora claims they addressed this issue in the XT's but couldn't share the changes made.)

    Great review! But currently a pair of Speedhorses are $133 vs $238 for Trackhorses (Amazon). If I had a pressing need for new horses or I was a pro I would go with the Kregs for sure. Instead I'll stick with my very cludgy 20 year-old portable horses for now.

    • @diytoolreviews8278
      @diytoolreviews8278  3 года назад +1

      Thank you! I certainly would agree with waiting until you need them. I also set price alerts on stuff like this so I can swoop them up when the price dips which happens all the time. There's a few apps that do that sort of tracking, but I find if I just put it in my "Purchase later" basket in amazon, they'll send me an email when the price changes and that's usually pretty good. I have like 50 items in my bucket waiting for price drops at any given time ;)

      @diytoolreviews8278  3 года назад +1

      @@Charlieedwardo It might seem that way on the video. But I can tell you that it isn't true. I really wanted to like the Bora set even though I am partial to Kreg. It's easy to watch a video and make a judgement one way or another. But it's also easy enough to go an test out the two units for yourself. It's hard to be unbiased when you unbox the two and set them next to eachother and you realize right off the bat that the Kreg unit is far superior in quality in every way. I guess people want me to pretend they're equal all the way to the end of the video when I reveal which one my favorite is, but I'm not trying to put on a show. What you see is how I felt as I was going through the motions of the video. Really not trying to please people and I don't care about the judgements of commenters who have never posted a video of their own. It's not about loyalty either. I have almost as many bora tools as I do Kreg. Any time I can find an item that does the job for less money I'll go for it. In this case the Kreg was FAR superior to Bora. I see comments that say they'll buy the Bora anyway, and I get that, but if you want the better built unit then that's just a dumb choice. If you simply want the cheaper one and want to convince yourself it's the same, then buy the Bora. Just don't ask me to act unbiased when one is obviously superior in my opinion.
