there are people willing to pay >1k$ for a fucking pulley wheel, $150 is chump change also 150 is not actually that bad to have the best rotors considering hope v4s are like $600, 700, the entire hope brake setup would still be far far cheaper than some higher end alternatives like trickstuff brakes alone are around 2k while I personally stick to my regular hope rotors because vented is overkill, relatively speaking they are still ok'ish
@chrisdague5153 Dirt Bikes/MX usually just short brake bursts before corners etc, not long sustained braking down a mountainside, these will help get rid of the heat
Have the same set up on my 2021 Santa Cruz V10. But 200mm rotors front & rear. Already have Red & Black V4s & Red ventilated rotors for 2024 V10. 220 mm front 200 mm rear. Love em.
Money grab and marketing ploy! I’ve got over 35yrs of history with MTB’s, sport street bikes, MX and ATV’s. It wasn’t that long ago that DH bike weights were in the high 40’s to high 50’s. If weight of E-bikes is such an issue why hasn’t dual calipers/rotors been implemented? The MTB industry is so backwards, a dual caliper/rotor setup will always work better than any single disc setup!
It got implemented, pretty sure the pressures were too low due to the cable splitter, and because it was at the time of 9mm qr dropouts, the braking force kept pulling wheels out the dropout. It also means manufacturers have to make left and right sided calipers which would be expensive on the tooling side.
@@kingflynxi9420 I recall the attempt. It was just that, an attempt that never gained traction. In a time where seat post cost up to $300 plus, I’d say a dual caliper setup is due. I’ve seen a video here on YT of a guy in the UK that created a dual setup. Looked solid and seems to be on the right path.
Hope themselves market these as having a small increase in heat dissipation and regular discs being enough for most applications. It is a luxury item and marketed as such, nobody is selling these as essential, so I really do not understand why you would complain. Dual rotors would mean more weight and complexity, so no thank you.
Those are awesome, I was womdering who made them. Unfortunately brake rotor thickness is a standard for most. If you want those, you will need their calipers.
Truly beautiful works of brilliance. But, representing something that will become obsolete: disk breaks turn kinetic energy into heat. Why throw away all of that energy? Instead, use it to charge yir batteries, etc.
Imagine that somebody adds even Bigger discs and wheels, maybe even puts some kind of machine that can drive those wheels better and it uses energy derived from some special liquid...we can call that invention machine cycle or something
I had hope E4s on my bike and upgraded to Shimano Saints, there’s no comparison Shimano brakes are so much better than Hope, even though Hopes look very cool.
