    I go to see the orthopedic surgeon for first time. What should I expect for the first visit?. I have 3 different types of meniscus tears, and a sprain from both ACL and MCL.

    • @healthdecide
      @healthdecide  2 месяца назад

      Generally, during your first visit to the orthopedic surgeon, you can expect:
      Medical History Review: The surgeon will ask about your symptoms, injury details, and medical history.
      Physical Examination: The surgeon will examine your knee to assess stability, range of motion, and pain points.
      Imaging Tests: You may undergo X-rays or an MRI if they haven't been done already to get a detailed view of the meniscus tears and ligament sprains.
      Discussion of Diagnosis: The surgeon will explain the extent of your meniscus tears and ligament injuries.
      Treatment Plan: You'll discuss treatment options, which may include physical therapy, medication, or possibly surgery, depending on the severity of your injuries.

    How long is recovery on just an MCL repair like this?

    • @healthdecide
      @healthdecide  5 месяцев назад

      Recovery time for an MCL surgery depends on the severity of the damage and grade of tear. Most MCL tears can heal without surgery taking about 6 weeks. However, a grade III (or severe) MCL tear will often be accompanied by damage to other structures of the knee. Recovery time depends on any related knee injuries but is generally between nine and 12 months.
