Seriously though. On one hand It's upsetting that not enough people know about ween and their music, but on the other hand in a way I would kind of hate to see what happened if people started catching on. I feel like there would be a lot of people who came in and started acting like they've always been here, or like they know everything about the band. Then of course there's the issue with their older work. I feel like a good chunk of people would not take some of their older songs very well. I've been listening to ween for almost 2 years now, and I've gone out of my way to check out all of their albums, and not even I know how to feel about some of their older tracks. Like they are clearly products of a different time. And I know most of them are satirical, but they're kind of the reason I have a hard time recommending ween to friends, because I just don't know how they would take music like that. Like I want people to appreciate this music, but how do you recommend a band to people when they've got songs like the HIV song and stuff like that? Maybe I'm just overthinking this thing though.
@@SirLightsOut99 Satire is not the word really. Just goofy, brownness on their older stuff. Theres no making fun of music with ween. Just them making whatever they want
@@SirLightsOut99 Getting friends into Ween is like ripping off a bandaid. It must be done or else are they really that good of a friend? Its not that serious but if they like alternative music then it really is.
I guess we all agree just a masterpiece i don't think many music fans have ever heard it. It would be a classic if it was mainstream. But then it would not be such a treasure if it was on the radio regularly.
Epic Tune. Gener is a psychedelic Gollum like Minstrel perched on his humble throne. First saw these guys in 92 when it was just Dean and Gener w a beat box. Had no clue who they were and it took me three songs to go from "Are the Roadies fucking around? To these guys are terrible to this is Genius! Loved them ever since
If you can find a better-executed version of a song anywhere you're a better man than I am gunga din. Absolutely flawless rendition of a profound, soulful, and delicious song. Doesn't get better than this. This version of this song will play the three mourners out as they exit my funeral. I think it will help them understand both my death and the rest of their lives in some undefinable way.
Yeah, when they recorded this live DVD they played a few nights in a row wearing the same clothes. Never joking about how they played some songs several times just to make sure they got it right. Would actually be interesting to talk to someone that attended all these shows
Deaner sometimes was fractions of a second off and a lot of the concert seemed slightly Under pressure. But with that said. I STILL totally agree! Great live band they were
For me I always thought this song was about my personal story. I've had a highly strange, and fucking hard, but beautiful life. Ween has been one of my favourite bands of all time easily and this song always gives me shivers and tears. The beautiful struggle. I think I'm one the Gardeners, here on purpose. It hasn't been easy, but I did it. Earth is truly unique, and necessary. I don't really mind what anyone thinks of what I'm writing, just having a moment.
Saw them in troutdale after 2 cancelled shows and they played the most amazing set list ever. I about shit myself when I heard them start playing the Argus, my eyes bolted to my girlfriend like no fucking way. Also got birthday boy, take me away, she fucks me, tender situation, what deaner was talking about, and a bunch of other great ones. I couldn’t believe how lucky we were
I think this tour in this record was the peak of Ween. What's more, I pretty much knew that would likely be the case when it was happening so I made a real point to appreciate it all. I used to tell people on the forums and s*** " This might be the most important record and tour we ever get from them." They would say I was being hyperbolic but obviously la cucaracha was something of a dud.
Beautiful performance. Admittedly, I did cringe and wince at Aaron's balance on the stool the entire time. This comes from personal experience of hitting the ground face first.
Especially newer fans will become increasingly new age. Which is bizarre because around the time this album came out the opposite was true. The fan base was mostly blue collar and pretty hostile too the spiritual gibberish that some jam-band fan had. But hey, I don't get to decide how other people enjoy music.
I meant that I like Ween as the great songwriters that they were. To see them at Red Rocks now would make me feel like they are a touring band living in nostalgia. I have seen Ween shows since the early 90's. My personal Ween experience is the amazing songwriting on the albums that was put out over the years. Ween doesn't play the Argus live very often. Songs like the Argus is why I put Ween on a pedestal with the Beatles. Their studio music music is so fucking good and I want to remember my heroes in their prime.
Possibly the greatest song of all time
its heartbreaking genes songwriting only gets the praise it deserves from the fans, the man is an absolute genius

Arguably my favorite Ween song. And I'm only arguing with myself.
Mine too.
I argus'ed with myself twice today
My exact same situation.

The Argus he cries: "Though love has it's place in the sun, it's only man's fear that carries him on."
That line gives me chills every time I hear it
@@JohnGaltShadow It's so friggin true. We are driven more by fear than love.
I read that line and got the chills, then read the other comment about getting chills 😂
Beautiful
Do I get this line tattooed ??
Started listening to Ween again recently. Outlook on life is much better.
Yes, I agree my fellow human
How's it hangin G slice
The outro makes me tear up every single time. God damn I love Ween
The beginning makes me tear up every time. Just the opening notes. So sad seeming.
The ascending notes Glenn does at 3:41 gives me chills Every. Single. Time.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time, Gener’s voice is great here and the playing is really nice as well
I guess we all agree just a masterpiece i don't think many music fans have ever heard it. It would be a classic if it was mainstream. But then it would not be such a treasure if it was on the radio regularly.
Greg Rago their whole objective was to please their fans, not the masses
They are a special treasure, but I’m always trying to share them around. 🥰

This holds up as my favorite Ween track for all of time.
I just got into them recently, found this and nothing has topped it yet.

Who. Cares.
My favorite song. Such an incredible show. Gener the ying to Deaner's yang. Together, pure brown.
Perfect brown synopsis
that guitar riff during the second is just beautiful
"second half"
Honestly, it reminds me quite a bit of Big Country... and that's not a bad thing, those guys really knew how to interweave guitars.
Gene’s gotta be one of my favourite singers the passion in his voice ... Jesus
This is genius live. Aaron Freeman is the best singer alive today.
soooo true.
+Todd Shockley i totally agree.
yes!
agreed voice of an angel, voice of a demon pretty much whatever needs to happen for the song he can do it

This is the quintessential gene and dean song, great lyrics, great guitar work, truly amazing! Love it.
And the Argus is practiced compassion
With an eye on you, as one is on me......
Will the god eye grant his forgiveness
Letting droplets of light erupt from the sea?
Probably my favorite ween song. "Though love has it's place in the sun, it's only man's fear that carries him on...."
Ween is one of a handful of bands that give me tingles.
This is my favorite Ween song, and I love all their songs.

How can someone dislike this?! Right up there with Sarah and Gonna Be Alright... for me

Why's this song so fucking goooood? Turns out if you write songs about dick jokes and food you still have to be extremely talented.
Some songs are Deen's. But this one is Gene's.
Wow. Argus means the watchful guardian
