  • This is my custom tilite aero z. Just the ins and outs. It took seven weeks to get from my first appointment to pick up. I will do another on how it comes apart and fits into my car. If you have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments.

The Aero z is an awesome chair. Ive had mine since 2016 and it still is in mint condition. One thing, you have push to lock brakes, NOT scissor brakes. Scissor brakes fold and hide under your seat. Thats what I have. Im getting a new chair now, and am ordering the Aero t model this time. I tried one out and loved it.
    Best wishes

I'm getting an Aero Z, too - it's going to be ocean blue metallic with black anodizing and black hubs on the casters. I love the idea of putting something on the back to indicate that no, we do not need help: last summer, I spent a couple of days somewhere, and had 4 different people (all employees) in the space of 5 minutes ask me if I needed help - all I was doing was wheeling and looking around. I understood where they were coming from, but it really got on my nerves, and I eventually told one of them that if I needed help, I would ask for it - once I said it, they didn't ask me again the rest of the time I was there. So I knew I was going to need to get something to get the point across without me having to say anything, and using a leash wrap on the rigidizer bar is brilliant! I don't have a service dog yet (it's somewhere in my future), but I love PatienceandLove.

Ugh isn't so frustrating that people do that? Seriously the other day I was in Target and the greeter was so concerned she kept harassing me. I already told her no thank you but she just kept on.

Though there are times that I actually need help and will gratefully accept other than that it feels a bit belittling. Once I was putting my chair together and dude rocked up to me to tell me how he was proud of me.

@@Jaggededge112 I had one store employee sort of do that to me a few months ago - I was wheeling around looking at everything (first time in that store, so going up and down every aisle), and she asked me no less than 3 times in 15 minutes, even after I told her every time that I was just looking. I could have sworn she was following me around while she was stocking shelves, so I ended up resorting to just avoiding her, and if I saw her, I turned and went the other way. Haven't been back in there since, but not because of that (it's 45 minutes away, so I don't get over that way very often).

@@Ravenandthemutts I got mine in February of last year, I haven't taken them off either. I do usually do a cleaning once a week to make sure the wheels and castors don't get gunky. I was so lucky I got the Gel memory foam hybrid cushion. Very comfortable. I was only a part time user but as I have been getting worse I have been using it more and more.

@@Ravenandthemutts I also chose the purple wheel spokes. We think a lot alike :) I was in a 20 inch frame but I lost nearly 80 lbs and needed to get a new wheelchair that fit me properly. You should order an underseat bag, I have a few one that is butterfly designs and one from quickie. I also have matching gloves to push myself.

What was the process of getting your chair? My doctor wrote a script and I’ve called some medical supply stores but none of them have a ridged frame chairs like a Quickie or TiLite.
Update: this is an old comment. I went though National Seating & Mobility bc I heard a lot of bad things about Numotion. I now have my new chair it’s a TiLite aero z.

I had the same problem. Most doctors don't know what they're doing, and the process actually has more steps to it. You have to get in with a seating clinic. They measure you, make a recommendation to the insurance company about which chair you, and then order the chair. Unfortunately, I didn't understand the process and got frustrated after going to DME companies and not getting answers, so I just crowdfunded mine. I hope you have better luck going through the actual process!

Don't know if you're still looking, but if you are, Chronically Jaquie has a custom wheelchair playlist on her channel that details what the process looked like for her, and I've found that, even with me being in a different state, the process was basically the same for me as it was for her. To get the process started, I did a google search for custom wheelchair companies in my state, and that gave me somewhere to go from.

Look into an Alber e-fix. I have the older model with a god awful heavy battery (29 lbs!!!) but other than that I love it. It’s an amazing piece of tech. I’m going to be getting a new chair and new e-fix (e-36) and the battery is only 4.5 lbs. I’m looking at a tilite tra. But I 100% recommend the e-fix.
