a rule for Miss Daisy could be that if you want to buy something new, you come home and donate something that perhaps no longer fits her? xx
Im right behind you. We are doing this too in our family. It is also the impact on the environment when we need to move all this stuff on that can't be recycled, sold or re used. Also the cost to the planet in continually producing cheaper products that we don't really need. Well done and keep walking the talk. Love it!!
Hello Crystal!
You’ve given me instant inspo. I’m going to hop on the “No Buy Year” Train with you. 😊
Like you mentioned, the essentials such as petrol, food, bills etc is okay but everything thing else is off limits for myself too.
This will be an extremely hard challenge for me as I practically live for Kmart.
We can do it!
P.s you’re absolutely killing it with these vlogs. Great work!
Love this! My motto for this year is ‘make do with what we have’. 😊
I’m doing no buy February. Keep us posted with how you go ❤
LOVE THIS! I'm on board, saving to knock down/rebuild our house! 🤞
Good on you girl! From impulse spending to saving ❤
I'm the same Crystal! it makes me excited lol less is more!
Hi Crystal, love your new style and how you’ve replaced your wardrobe. I would love if you did a look through your wardrobe of pieces and where you’ve got them from? Thanks 😊
What stops me buying clothes for my little girl in bigger sizes is knowing styles change, will I still love the piece in 2 years time or will I want to buy the latest cute stuff ? I think there is a balance to be had and it’s great to save money, but I think only one size up is a good rule. There will always be more bargains the next year.
The other thing is having to manage all that stuff, anything that comes into your home is inventory to manage and it can become overwhelming.
Love this!! Good luck and very inspiring! 😘
Thank you! 💗
I think this is an amazing idea. Family outings I think are different. They are memory making moments. Fish and chips on the beach is lovely. Another dress or shoes ends up in a charity bin at some point.
OMG CRYSTAL YES! 👏 I love this!
Here are my thoughts!-
I have been thinking about doing the exact same thing. I think the world is starting to wake up to the fact that over consumption isn’t cool. It’s not healthy for us or the earth. I have realised I would buy things from Kmart and then 6 months later, I wouldn’t have worn them at all and then I give them away to a charity or free on marketplace. Such a waste of money for me. So now I am so much more mindful. I haven’t bought any clothes this year. BUT my brother gave me a Ghanda voucher for Christmas. I got two t shirts which I’ve been living in. So not sure where the rules stand when it comes to clothes vouchers 🤷♀️
I am excited to watch your journey and hopefully you inspire others to do the same.
✨❤️
Whenever I’m tempted to make a purchase (other than necessities like food and petrol) I first ask myself “how will this thing make my life better?”. 99% of the time, the answer is “it won’t” and I simply walk away. It’s feels really good being a mindful consumer.
Good Luck 🍀 You can do this Crystal 👍 I am saving for a No-Fly Cruise for me & my husband's Wedding Anniversary in June. I won't be buying alcohol this year either.
My NY Resolution is to do more 'Laughter Yoga'
Omg stop this is inspiring me so much!! I'm gunna struggle though as I return to work after mat leave in August and none of my work clothes fit 😩 I feel like that's acceptable though lol
I love this version of crystal you inspire me heaps to be more minimal and buy quality over quantity ❤️
I have been doing a no buy month! It’s been.. interesting 😅 some things to consider is setting budgets for birthday gifts, and spending around other people - eg a friend of mine lost a family member and I sent her flowers. Additionally, do you have any weddings or parties to attend this year & what will that look like for you. What about home improvements etc. I think it’s ok to make up additional rules along the way :)
Crystal you have built 2 houses, have done lots of landscaping, paid for your TTC journey.
I am confident you can do this!
We are doing frugal Feb at our house! We both love to eat out & hate to cook so that’s a big source of lost $$ for us
Only keep $10 cash in your handbag for emergency food when out at the shops, and leave your credit cards at home. Total game changer.
I love that idea! But I know I coud not do a whole year. 😂 Maybe I'll do one or two months to try and see if I can change my mindset about buying stuff. 🙂 I am addicted to online shopping, I need to stop that. 😂
I like to embrace the principles of minimalism, mainly because it makes my life less stressful. There are things I simply don’t buy. The things that I do buy, I buy very consciously (either I need it or something needs replacing) and when I do buy I try and buy sustainable, like Country Road or Biome as examples. I avoid fast fashion because it’s usually only seasonal and low quality, will likely get donated or thrown away quickly. I try to own less but of high quality items that will last a long time. Good luck with your journey 🤗
This is such a challenging goal 🙊Good luck! I'm trying to cut back on buying fast foods or takeaways this year and do more home cooking!
It’s definitely been a challenge to change our ways but we’re doing pretty good so far! So many more dishes now though 😬

Are you still home cooking with 'Gousto' or 'Hello Fresh' Crystal? My family realised that when we cook family meals from stratch ourselves, it is so much healthier. There is so much sugar, fat & E-numbers in Jars of sauces etc. So we are also saving money for gas, electric, petrol and diesel.
As a family of 5 v spend more on takeaways and fast food I really really want to cut down on this you inspired me and gave me courage more so let’s c and good luck to you also 😊
After 'TTC' & hitting the jackpot with Daisy. Would you recommend birth control or would you recommend just letting nature happen? Thankyou for your help. Happy New Year lovely lady! From Star in England UK
Love it! And yes, this has really been running through my head lately to cut back especially on online shopping 🫠 I’m going to try and start next month but I really like the idea of selling something before buying something 👍
I’ve set myself a goal to save for. I got myself a coffee machine to cut back on take away coffees and going to attempt meal prep but yes I really don’t need anything.
Although I know I’m going to struggle with the clothes side of it so I’m going to allow myself to purchase second hand/ opshop items 😅
I think once we become content with the things we have we realise we don’t need to fill the void with “stuff” i was in the same boat going to Kmart and dropping a couple hundred dollars at a time and then a year later being overwhelmed with it and throwing it away or donating it, I quickly realised I was dopamine chasing.
i think that‘s a great idea!!! just the fact that one is being very mindful about what really is needed or really brings joy to buy….but be kind to yourself 😅
another thought: not sure in australia, but in switzerland we also have great „second chance“ shops or websites. also with kid‘s clothes…and the shop owners make sure the stuff was well taken care of, i think they are great. maybe that could ease some of the rules?
I’m also trying to do a no spend year! I get points back with my credit card and can exchange them for gift cards, so once I accumulate enough points from groceries/bills, I’ll reward myself in a way!
I need to cut takeaway and I’ve made a rule that I can’t buy any clothing I can’t wear both to work and home. I have one wedding I’ll buy an outfit for but apart from that my money is going towards our new kitchen going in 😊
Will you still do fashion reels in Target etc? Just not buy
I'm currently doing some saving challenges. You should check out 2 sister bees channel, they have so many cute games/ideas for savings and the have no buy challenges and saving games for kids for Daisy when she's old enough for chores.
You can do this and don't pressure yourself, make it fun. You have done great in my opinion, even with future clothes/ stuff for Daisy, that's a great idea and I would follow it if I get blessed with a baby this year 🥺🥰. Don't feel bad for necesites. Much love from Puerto Rico.
Rules are made to be broken......
Hi Crystal - check out Danish youtuber, Signe from her channel, Use Less. Her latest video is her honest account on her own No Buy year in 2022.
Yup I’m trying not too buy anything I just don’t go to the shops I’m finding if I don’t look online I won’t see it if I don’t see I don’t want 😉
I’m also going back to old ways saving in cash envelope if I really want something I’m going to save for it
I love no buys. This is how us poor people already live.
