In August of 2008, upon the 3rd announcement of Floyd Mayweather Jr's retirement last June 2008 here were the top 10 Welterweight ranking:
Take note: On March 15, 2008 Manny Pacquiao fought J.M. Marquez at 130 lbs and in June 28, 2008 Pacquiao fought David Diaz at 135 lbs.
    1,) Antonio Margarito (WBA)
    2.) Miguel Cotto
    3.) Paul Williams (WBO)
    4.) Shane Mosley
    5.) Joshua Clottey (IBF)
    6.) Carlos Quintana
    7.) Kermit Cintron
    8.) Andre Berto (WBC)
    9.) Luis Collazo
    10.) Jackson Bonsu
Remember that Pacquiao fought 4 out of the TOP 5 Welterweights during this August 2008 ranking. He fought Cotto, Clottey, Margarito and Mosley. Pacquiao is the smallest among all these welterweight fighters and started pro at 98 lbs and become a Lineal + WBC champion at 112 lbs. Pacquiao is fighting outside his comfort zones unlike Mayweather. Fact is all of Pacquiao's 8 division title championships were all held outside his country.
While Mayweather Jr, announces retirements for several times. 1st was after the A. Gatti fight, 2nd was after the Dela Hoya fight (he refuse to rematch Dela Hoya), 3rd was June 2008 (after the Hatton fight), 4th was after A. Berto fight, 5th after the C. McGregor fight (an MMA fighter with ZERO Boxing record).
For large portions of his illustrious career, Mayweather was a master of timing, both in and out of the ring. Despite his vast repertoire of skills, “Money” was a master at stacking the odds in his favour (It Means CAREFULLY SELECTED His Opponents) whether it meant dragging Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Marquez up to 147lbs (the MARQUEZ Fight was at 144 lbs Catch Weight BUT Mayweather weighed 146 lbs and paid $700, 000 fine) or telling Canelo Alvarez that he couldn’t weigh more than 152lbs CATCH WEIGHT despite the super-welter limit being 2lbs heavier (this was a WBC / WBA UNIFICATION fight).
Mayweather Jr got caught administering 750 ml of saline IV illegally.

    2012 = 1 fight
    2016 = NO fight
2017 = 1 fight against C. McGregor (an MMA fighter with ZERO Boxing record).
2019 = 1 Exhibition fight against a 21 yo, BANTAMWEIGHT, Kickboxer from Japan.
2021 = scheduled to fight against a RUclipsR.

"This fight with a RUclipsr is a Legalized Bank Robberies", says Mayweather Jr.
"I'm a Scared Coward, am RICH Scared COWARD", says Floyd Mayweather Jr.

While Pacquiao at 42 yo, is scheduled to fight on August 21, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV against the undefeated / unified WBC & IBF 147lbs champion E. Spence an eleven years younger. Spence is much bigger, heavier, taller, has longer reach. Spence Jr is the current # 1 Welterweight plus the # 5 best Pound for Pound in the ranking as of June 14, 2021.
Important FACTs: Pacquiao started pro at 106 lbs, become the 'Lineal' champion at 112 lbs at age of 19 way back 1998. Moves up in bunch of weight classes, wins multiple titles including 'Lineal', then become the 'Lineal champion at 147 lbs by defeating Bradley way back 2016 at age of 37.
Greatness is measured through adversity. For a fighter or a warrior to be called THE Greatest he/she must be able to bounce back from his/her worst difficulties. Being undefeated doesn't mean you're the very best. Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Archie Moore are example of the top 1-to-10 all time greatest fighters that suffered multiple loses.

    GOAT / TBE : ruclips.net/video/ZQURYIc_Rgo/видео.html
Here are some examples of Greatness: -------
    T. Hearns KO'd R. Duran (still Duran is greater), R. Leonard beat R. Duran (still Duran is greater), A. Pryor KO'd A. Arguello (still Arguello is greater), A. Tarver KO'd R. Jones (still Roy Jones Jr is greater), J. Taylor beat B. Hopkins (still Hopkins is greater), J. Calzaghe beat both R. Jones Jr and B. Hopkins (still both Jones Jr and Hopkins are greater than Calzaghe), Rocky Marciano beat Archie Moore (still Moore is greater), J. Young beat G. Foreman (still Foreman is greater), B. Douglas KO'd M. Tyson (still Tyson is greater), B. Arizmendi beat H. Armstrong (still Armstrong is greater), Marquez KO'd Pacquiao (still Manny is way greater), Junior Jones beat M. Barrera (still Barrera is greater), Z. Raheem beat E. Morales (still Morales is greater), C. John beat Marquez (still Marquez is greater), Mayweather Jr beat Pacquiao (still Manny is way greater).
Manny is greater than Floyd Jr and M. Ali. Why? Because Manny did an EXTRAORDINARY feat that Floyd and Ali didn't. No one in history of boxing that a fighter become a 'LINEAL' champion at 112 lbs vs C. Sasakul (at age of 19) then moved up in multiple weight classes, win 'LINEAL' titles in between , and then become a 'LINEAL' champion at 147 lbs vs T. Bradley (at age of 37).
Pacquiao a 5'6" tall, started at 106 lbs FILIPINO fighting away his comfort and won ALL his 8 weight div. championships OUTSIDE the Philippines including his win vs K. Thurman (at age of 40).
At age of 42, Pacquiao still fighting and scheduled to fight the #1 welterweight, the #5 Pound for Pound, bigger, taller, heavier, longer reach, 11 years younger, unified and undefeated in Spence.
When we're talking about Pound for Pound greatest fighter or warrior who ever lived we are talking about the fighters/warriors 'ENTIRE' career. The 'ENTIRE' accomplishments.
Being undefeated doesn't mean you're the Greatest. Losing is part of the sport.
The greats Ray Robinson has 19 losses, Henry Armstrong has 21 losses, Ali has 5 losses, Duran has 16 losses, Archie Moore has 23 losses and they're on list of top 1-10 Greatest Of All Time.
Whoever reads this, may the Lord God in heaven bless you and your family 🙏😇

bro floyd didnt just beat manny's ass but still won more major world titles without losing eight times, no two draws and didnt get knocked out three times. true, manny fought cotto, margarito, mosley and clottey but they were no longer in their top shapes. Cotto was already brutally knocked out by margarito and barely won against clottey. Clottey lost to Cotto. He was just happy for the payday. He never exerted effort to win and didnt train properly. Mosley was just plain old and beltless while floyd fought mosley when mosley was the top welterweight after brutally knocking out margarito. Manny fought margarito at a catchweight, not at welterweight. Margarito wasnt the champion and he was a nobody at 154 specially without those loaded gloves. He was just big.

@@mr.brightside6576 Brother, I assumed you're a REASONABLE man (bright person). As what I stated the FACTS especially the DATES. Pacquiao fought at 130 lbs in March 2008, he fought at 135 lbs in June 2008, then fought at 147 lbs in December 2008. Now, according to you, Cotto, Clottey, Mosley, Margarito suffered losses --- So WHEN should Pacquiao fought them? In 2007, 2006, 2005 (Manny is at 130 lbs), in 2004, 2003 (Manny is at 126 lbs), in 2002, 2001, 2000 (Manny is at 122 lbs), in 1995-to-1999 (Manny is at 105-112 lbs).
Talking about CATCHWEIGHT --- Mayweather fought Canelo at 152 lbs, Mayweather fought Marquez at 144 lbs.
Now for the Pacquiao vs Margarito catchweight fight, you should be proud of Manny fighting a guy that out weighed him for "17" lbs (148 lbs for MP and 165 lbs for AM).
If you're talking about the CORRUPTION of the alphabet belts, then we can blame these WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF the least when it comes to bogus rankings, multiple holders.

@@ARMYEXERCISE ...cause you made it seem that pac fought those welterweights at their absolute best by basing it in the 2008 rankings. pac fought cotto in 2009. clottey and margarito in 2010 and mosley in 2011. yes margarito was a lot heavier during fightnight but still he needs to drain the four extra pounds to get the 150 catchweight. canelo wasnt that big that time when he fought floyd and had to shred only two pounds while margarito needs to shred four pounds. the difference is canelo was a unified champ while margarito was a nobody at 154. cotto fight was a catchweight as well. cotto barely won against clottey. floyd fought mosley when he was the top fighter at 147 after knocking out margarito cold [the guy they accused floyd of duccking]. the marquez fight was different cause its actually floyd who needs to come down...you need to know the difficulties of weight cutting in order for you to understand its effects.

Second, Pacquiao's 8 division world championship is only a product of his time just like most achievements in boxing. If you put Pacquiao's resume in a different era, say 1940's, he will NEVER become an 8 division world champion since there's only 8 division exist during that era.
And last, Pacquiao in reality did not won titles in 8 division but 6, CONTRARY to popular belief.

I actually give Manny all the credit beating Shane here. Yes, Mosley was old and past his prime. But not yet washed out. At 39, the way I see it he still has enough juice left to make it competitive if he just dare to pull the trigger. In fact, he's actually controlling Manny and exposing Pacquiao's weakness against movers and counter punchers, and Mosley was far from being a great counter puncher and mover. He just seems too confused of Pacquiao's weird attacks and/or does not have his heart in the fight. It looks like he's only trying to survive and stay healthy for him to enjoy his money.

That's because Floyd and Shane fought at the same time, their careers were parallel. They were always in the same weight class. The point is, Floyd could have fought Mosley 5 years or more sooner. Pacquiao didn't have that opportunity, his first 35 fights took place in the Philippines/Asia. When he came here, he fought at 122. His first chance to fight Mosley is when the fight took place.
Nobody questions Pac regarding Mosley's age when they fought, they know what the situation was. Floyd has no such excuse. He claimed that he tried to fight Mosley, but Mosley declined because of a problem with a tooth. Look at their records, you'll see that Shane was fighting bigger, tougher opponents the entire time. He didn't fear bigger, in-their- prime opponents, he had no fear of Floyd either. Shane never ducked anyone; Floyd ducked almost everyone.
Shane fought Vernon Forrest twice, Floyd ducked that smoke. Shane fought Oscar twice when both were in their prime, Shane won both. Floyd fought Oscar once, when Oscar was older and not the same, and Floyd Sr. said he thought Oscar beat his son's ass. Floyd temporarily retired to avoid a rematch clause in their contract, he knows that he was gifted the decision in his fight with Oscar.
Floyd fought Cotto after Miguel had been thru a list of brutal fights. He had 7 tough fights over a 3 year period, including getting smashed by Pac, taking an illegal beating from brick hands, fighting the cement mason again in another hard fight, had a war with Mosley and another brutal fight with Clottey, and some other fights. During the same period, Floyd mostly sat on his ass, fighting only 3 easy fights. He sucker-punched Ortiz, fought a guy 3 weight divisions smaller in Marquez and finally fought old, beaten-up Mosley.
When Floyd finally fought Cotto, Miguel was definitely a beaten-up warrior. He was still good, but not a young, fresh and confident version of himself. Cotto still gave Floyd hell, knocking out a tooth with a hard jab, had Floyd's face looking like a bowl of spaghetti sauce most of the fight. Pacquiao fought a younger, once beaten Cotto, and beat him so bad it was hard to watch. Floyd wouldn't fight a guy until he saw deterioration; either all beaten to hell and back, old and past it, coming off of a loss to a so-so opponent, or some other compromised scenario before he would finally get in the ring.
Floyd has a history of making excuses like the excuse he made for ducking Mosley for many years. He had to come up with some b.s. story, he wasn't going to admit cherry-picking. Floyd avoided/ducked many of the best; Shane until he was past it, same with Pacquiao even tho' Manny still spanked him. Same with Oscar and Cotto, duck, duck, if it looks like a duck it must be a chicken.
He ducked Vernon Forrest, Winky Wright, Paul Williams, Ricardo Mayorga and Antonio Margarito. Kostya Tszyu was another guy he was scared of, so he made excuses. He ducked Joel Casamayor, Acelino Freitas, Joshua Clottey, Corey Spinks and Amir Kahn. He could have fought at least one of the new group of young, tough welterweights, but he ducked all of them including; Errol Spence, Bud Crawford, Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman, Kell Brook and Danny Garcia.
Floyd couldn't have fought all of the guys I mentioned, but he didn't have a legitimate excuse for not fighting any of them either. If you check the career record of Mosley, you'll see several of these names there. If you check Cotto's career, he fought some of them as well. Pacquiao fought many of them, Oscar fought some and some other, bigger guys. You can check almost any name I mentioned, and you'll see some of these opponents there. Not on Floyds career record, not one of the dozens of these tough guys did he fight.
Who was Floyd fighting instead of some of these? Guys like Victoriano Sosa, Henry Bruseles, Sharmba Mitchell, Demarcus Corley, Philipp N'Dou and Carlos Hernandez. These were some of his opponents, and at a time when Floyd was at his very best between 24 and 29. Floyd beat Carlos Hernadez by decision. Pacquiao also beat Hernandez by decision. Not Manny Pacquiao, Manny's little brother Bobby Pacquiao. What in the hell was Floyd doing fighting guys that Bobby Pacquiao could beat?
Still not sure who was better? Let's ask the professional analysts, sports writers and former boxing champions. They took a vote to determine who they would name as fighter of the decade for the 2000's. A full decade of fights when Manny and Floyd were both in their best years. Floyd was 18-0 during the decade. Pacquiao was 24-1-1. They chose Pacquiao, in the only head-to-head long-term comparison of the 2 of them, a comparison done by boxing itself. They saw that Floyd was undefeated, but they preferred Pacquiao. Why? Cherry picking by Floyd, just as I said. There's no bullshitting his way around this, no excuses will suffice, Pacquiao was chosen head-to-head over Floyd. Pacquiao has a better claim for GOAT status than Floyd has, no cherries to pick in this garden.

As a kid he's doing scraps and earning 5 to 10 pesos and that's not a bad sum in the 80's, especially in the province. I also did some scraps in my childhood during late 90's and if I earn 10 pesos that's enough to buy a kilo of rice. In his early teens, he did some labor works and earning 300. He's also earning some money boxing in the amateurs. He actually even trained Asi Taulava and was paid 100k a month. So there's no way in hell his life is as worst as he wanted to portray. Sadly because I agree with Naazim that he could still give Manny a tough fight if not win it. He already defuse the basic strengths of Pacquiao. He just didn't try to capitalize on it. Hell, he could have even won this fight if he even try to get busy. He's actually the one controlling Manny (ring generalship) but wasn't busy enough so Manny capitalize on that mistake by being the more active boxer.

Pacquiao holds '3' RECORDS that are far too under-publicized and May NEVER Be Matched.
The ONLY boxing champion held a major World title in FOUR different Decades.
The ONLY man to hold The LINEAL championship in FIVE Weight divisions.
The ONLY man to win Titles in EIGHT Weight classes.
Manny is greater than Floyd. Why? Because Manny did an EXTRAORDINARY feat that Floyd didn't. No one in the history of boxing that a fighter become a 'LINEAL' champion at 112 lbs then moved up in multiple weight classes, win 'Lineal' titles in between , and then become a 'LINEAL' champion at 147 lbs. Now at age of 42, Pacquiao still fighting the #1 welterweight, the #5 Pound for Pound, bigger, taller, heavier, longer reach, 11 years younger, unified and undefeated in Spence. While Floyd fought a pokemon RUclipsr.
GREATNESS is measured through adversity. For a warrior to be considered the Greatest fighter Ever, he/she will be able to BOUNCE Back and RISE Up from his/her WORST DIFFICLUTIES.
Pacquiao suffered '3' BRUTAL Knockouts, '2' Controversial DRAWS, '2' Clear ROBBERIES but he moved on and continue to challenged for Legacy. Even at 42 years 8 months old, 70 + fights, outside his country.
Here are some examples of GREATNESS: -------
    T. Hearns KO'd R. Duran (still Duran is greater), R. Leonard beat R. Duran (still Duran is greater), A. Pryor KO'd A. Arguello (still Arguello is greater), V. Forrest KO'd Shane Mosley (still Mosley is greater), A. Armstrong (still Armstrong is greater), Trinidad beat Whitaker (still Pernell Whitaker is greater), Marquez KO'd Pacquiao (still Manny is way greater), Junior Jones beat M. Barrera (still Barrera is greater), Z. Raheem beat E. Morales (still Morales is greater), C. John beat J. Marquez (Marquez still greater), Margarito KO'd Martinez (still Sergio Martinez is greater), Mayweather Jr beat Pacquiao (still Manny is way greater).
Being undefeated doesn't mean you're the Greatest. Losing is part of the sport. The greats Ray Robinson has 19 losses, Henry Armstrong has 21 losses, Ali has 5 losses, Duran has 16 losses, Archie Moore has 23 losses. All these boxing greats are on the list of top 1-10 P4P goats.

    • @raulratonmacias1377
      @raulratonmacias1377 2 года назад

      1. Pacquiao's achievements are product of his time. In Pacquiao's era, there are 17 division and 4-5 official world titles. Compare to the 40's where there's only 8 division with 1 world champion per division. If you put Pacquiao's resume in a different era then his record will never exist. Of course, what he did was still great. But it's still a product of it's time. Not to mention that...
      a. His 5th lineal championship is a meaningless title grabbing. After losing to Floyd, Manny had a year lay off. But instead of losing his ranking, TBRB actually move him up. How ridiculous is that?! Imagine Canelo losing to Bivol but The Ring still makes him the pound for pound ranked 1. Oh, the outcry of the stupid, bias fans. Yet you IDIOTS had ni problems with TBRB showing Manny favoritism.
      b. In reality, Manny only won titles in 6 division, not 8. Both the Barrera fight at 126 and Hatton at 140 are non title fights. The Ring are not official world titles.
      2. I won't argue whose the greater boxer between the two but...
      a. Lineal Championship are not absolute. It's not even a real title but an award. It's the fighters that makes the titles relevant, not the other way around. Yes, Sasakul is the lineal champion of the 112 when Manny beat him. But I reality, it's Too Sharp Johnson is the real king of the 112 during that time. Just like before the Canelo GGG fight. Canelo is the lineal 160 Champion but in reality GGG is the real king of the division until he lose to Canelo. Media only started to recognize lineal championship as the supposedly real title in the division when Pacquiao began his rise to stardom and everybody is jumping in his bandwagon.
      b. Sympathy should not be considered as basis of greatness. Jimmy McLarnin, 50 years before Pacquiao, beat not just lineal world champion but several Hall of Famers from Flyweight to Welterweight. Does it means we should consider McLarnin greater than Ali?
      c. Pacquiao at 42 is STILL ACTIVE. FLOYD IS RETIRED. How stupid to compare a retired boxer to an active one? Now, your idol is making you eat your own words by fighting a RUclipsr.
      3. Greatness is measured through adversity. Agree. BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOSE AND BOUNCE BACK TO PROVE YOUR GREATNESS. That's pure stupid logic and your obviously just making excuses to downplay Floyd's resume and make stupid argument to prove Pacquiao being greater. If Floyd lose that night to Pacquiao, will you still call him greater than Pacquiao even if he makes a successful comeback? After all,The reason why you're calling Pacquiao an All Time Greats is because he beat Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Cotto, Mosley and so on, not lose to them.
So, stop hating and learn to appreciate both boxers. You Pactards are pathetic.

I feel like some of these older boxing legends fights Pacquiao just to experience actual greatness.

Now i am going to say something many will hate, but if Shane was in his prime Pac-man may not have beaten him. Not to say he couldn't have beaten him, but it would probably have been a toss up. In his prime Shane was a little quicker than here, but i still don't know if he would have beaten Pacquiao. What a fight it would have been though! These are two of my favorite fighters of all time and i have been a fan and for a time a boxer for over sixty years. I saw many of the old greats and as far as Manny goes, i consider him the greatest pound for pound of all time. I think Roberto Duran was the greatest lightweight of all time, but pound for pound to me he is a close second to Manny. God i love great fights like this! The fact they are very respectful to each other just adds to their overall greatness. A real treat to watch.
