Thank you for posting this. I pray the ackathist with Small Compline but I have been ill. So it's easier to listen to this peaceful recording. I just wish it was the complete Small Compline.
stjamesorthodoxchurch.bandcamp.com/album/evening-prayers We have found this to be helpful in times like those you share. They have chanted the entire psalter too. Many good things there...
It’s our favorite too. It’s the first one. It’s know by many as “The Akathist”. The word “akathist” is Greek. It means to “not sit”. So it’s a standing prayer rather than kathisma which are sitting prayers of the psalter.
@@BookofAkathists Okay. Yeah I've noticed that at Church there is a lot of sitting and standing. There are pews, but nobody ever sits down the whole service. There is more standing than sitting. The people who use the pews the most are the elderly, disabled, very young children and their parents, and people who are new inquiring about Orthodox Christianity, who sit and observe everything from the back of pews, because they don't understand anything. Myself included. I still need help following the Divine Liturgy by St John Chrysostom.... So I sit/stand in the back of the pews and graciously people sitting beside us helps to find (and specifically to stay on the right page) pass the next troparion or feast day prayer. So welcoming and patient. There is more standing than sitting by far. "Do what you are capable of doing". Many elderly men use the next row of pews to brace and to help them sit and whenever standing . Christ has risen ☦️ Truly He is risen. Thank you for your videos, they are attracting inquirers, as they hear it for the first time (If you live in North America, the internet connection to Orthodox Christian material was the first time being shared publicly around the world.
@@mik569 Glory to God! It’s wonderful to see so many coming to faith in Christ and returning to His Church. Beautiful things happen when we return to a life of pursued holiness. May the Lord life you up and give you strength.
@@BookofAkathists can the female singing do it alone? She is far more consistent - the male is just holding her back. She needs to lose the anchor and unleash on the Akathist to the Theotokos.
It is straight from Jordanville monastery prayer book but they skip Ekos 10 and 11 . I was following them with the book and when they supposed to do Ekos 9 they skipped directly to Ekos 12.
Most Holy Theotokos, Save Us!

Thank you. Do you have a link to it?
@@BookofAkathists I do not have a link! I’ve been trying to find one.

I wonder if rewording and using an older/different / traditional style of English music would make the verses fit more naturally?
