- Hola! In today's video I test out the Nike Pegasus Trail 3 Gore-Tex on a rocky trail in Arizona. Did the shoe hold up in this unforgiving terrain? Watch to find out!

Thanks for showing detailed running footage. Really helpful!
You’re welcome! Happy trails!
Thanks man just ordered my pair !
Great to hear!
Nice review! I bought myself a pair in black yesterday, I can't wait to try them out.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Just ordered! Thanks
Happy trails!
Hello, we share some things in common. I just bought a pair of Nike Pegs Goretex 3. I bought this model because it was on sale and at least visually did not look much different than the latest version 4. I bought these with the intention of using them when we start getting snow. Actually, the Nike Invincible was the shoe I used last year for snow. I worked very well and I suspect more so than a lot of trail shoes would. THe invincible as you know have a very wide midsole. When running on some icy surfaces, actually the shoe width was more important than the lugs on trail shoes because nothing is impervious to ice, but shoes that have a wide sole create much more stability and confidence in icy/snowy conditions. I like the ride of the shoe, it is definatley one of the most comfortable and less rigid trail shoes I have used. However, the very first time I took them out of the box, and went to put them on using the pull tab on the back, boom, the pull tabs on both the left and right shoe came off/unglued with a very modest pull! I have pulled much harder in other shoes with no problem, it took nothing to have them come apart from the shoe. After reading reviews AFTER i bought the shoes, this was a complaint made by many that purchased this shoe. I noticed in version 4 the pull tab is vertical and that it looks more durable in that its nylon. Second thing we have in common is living in SE Michigan. You are right, finding trails in the immediate area is a bit of a challenge. I live in Dearborn Heights and will go to any one of several areas on Hines Drive as their are an extensive number of trails you can run going for miles. Also of course, the Brighton/South Lyon/Walled Lake area as well as Chelsea have a lot of trails in the public parks. Their is one in Chelsea that goes for miles in which you are surrounded completely by forrest. If you have a weekend and an inclination to drive, there are hundreds of trails that are sll very scenic and long and run from easy padded dirt to technical steep inclines. I ran a MArathon last year by Mackinaw that was a full 26.2 mile marathon completely on trails in the forrest. It really was fun but much harder than a road race because of all the steep climbs and decents and the inability to get stretches of just padded trails. A race just passed in Mackinaw, held every year at this time in which you cross the Mackinaw bridge. Start looking up running trail sites in Northern Michigan and you will get a lot. Actually starting at about midland MI to Mackinaw MI, Id swear their are hundreds if not a couple of thousand or so hiking and running trails. But locally and within practical driving distance, I go to brighton, Chelsea, South Lyon, Kensington Park, Silver Lake, and Hines drive as I mentioned earlier. I know their are also lots of good trails in between clarkston up to the Frankenmuth area if you live closer to the North end of SE Michigan . So I do my routine runs M-F in my residential neighborhood which includes Hines Drive, then Sat and Sun. I will make the drive to any one of several trails within a 1 hour drive. Well happy running and I appreciate the reviews!
Thanks for watching! The pull tabs on my Trail 3s are intact, but I have seen the same complaints. Great ideas for places to run in Michigan. I was able to run in the UP a few years ago, near Pictured Rocks and loved it.
Use these as my hiking shoe. Love them
Same! I went on a pretty intense hike in them and they were great. I actually prefer a shoe to a boot in most cases
Considering these. Would love to know how they've held up for you.
Very durable. I’ve beat these up running and hiking on some tough trails and they’ve held up perfectly. And the colorway makes them look brand new with a splash of water to clean them
I just ordered mine. Not for running but extreme walkings of between 50 and 100 km on different underground’s. So I’m curious 😁
Great!
thank you very much for the review/s especially from your video that you tested the pegasus trail 3 gore-tex running on the snowy road.
may i ask if it is true to size fit?
Yep, I run in size 10 for Nike, including the regular Pegasus and this one fit perfectly
@@FreshBrewRunClub thank you.
stay safe and we are always looking forward to your reviews/feedback
You're supposed to break them in just walking around for a few days before actually doing any long distance run. Like every nike running shoes
I don't have patience when it comes to a new pair of trainers!
hi, is there a hard support on the back (the part of the shoe that may rub with the achilles) or is it only textile ?
Great question. There’s a an elastic band of material that wraps around the ankle and below that on the heel is a stiffer material, but there’s lots of padding on the inside
thanks !!
tried the pegasus shield 38 with haglund deformity and it was not suited at all. Just saying for those with the same problem
Get rid of the laces and you'd have a great medical shoes! Support, Cushion, and Body Fluid Proof!
True!
Do you think it's a good option for daily use too? Go to the mall , go out for a coffee etc...
Yeah they’re pretty good for casual wear too. Might be a little heavy but definitely comfortable
Hi there,
Would you say these shoes are also adequate for strength training/gym such as squats, deadlifts, etc. I know that they are built for running, but would you also be able to use them in the gym casually?
Wouldn't recommend. Heel/stack height is too high at 36mm. It would mess up your deadlifts for sure.
I agree.
some vans for the gym
trust
Hi would you recommend these for Achilles support? Looking for a good trail running shoe post Achilles surgery recovery
Hey Benjamin! To be honest, I’m not totally sure. I did some research and found that the Nike Pegasus was often times recommended for Achilles issues, but I’m not sure if that would include the Peg Trail. Sorry I can’t be of more help!
@@FreshBrewRunClub I appreciate your feedback! Thank you. Just subscribed
Hello, do you think this shoe is suitable for non-trails runs as well?
It will definitely work. It might be a little heavier than most non-trail shoes, but I have run on pavement and the shoe was fine.
The trail 3 gore Tex is my favorite shoe I’ve ever everyday worn. Not even close (for me). I saw they dropped to almost $100 last month and now they are back up to $160 and in only two color ways. Does anyone know if a new version of the trail 3 gore Tex is coming ?
Since the Pegasus Trail 4 is out, I doubt they'll make more of the Gore-Tex 3. I haven't seen any Trail 4 Gore-Tex versions out yet though
i just ordered mine….where are you located? In Greece?
United States
Hi, do these shoes get dirty fast?
Good question. I think it depends on what you do with them, but the color I have seems to hide the dirt very well. Also, the Gore-Tex material it’s made out of means it’s easier to wipe dirt off.
does the rear extension help when shitting in nature....thanks
Probably!
Looks like Tucson. Mt. Lemon by any chance?
Oak Creek, just south of Sedona!
How do these shoes do in the rain/getting wet? They claim to be waterproof
I don’t know if I’d say these are 100% waterproof, but they’ll do a good job keeping most water out in a normal amount of rain. If you’re splashing through puddles or rivers, you’ll eventually get wet feet haha
What's your favorite trail run?
We’ve got some nice trails in the Ann Arbor area: Bird Hills, Lillie Park. The Potawatomi Trail in Pinckney is a great, tough, run.
Awesome, I will have to check those out!
How breathable would you say these are?
They’re really made to be waterproof, so they are not very breathable
@@FreshBrewRunClub yeah, saw it later. Thanks!
Is it good for wide feet?
I think it might be narrow for wide feet. Definitely try them on if you can!
is it any good to wear in autumn/winter ?
Yeah, the Gore-Tex does a good job keeping out moisture. And these are pretty good in the snow
@@FreshBrewRunClub thank you for info
Hello, what about sizing?
These ran true to size for me
Good video.
It's kind of odd there isn't a GORE-TEX version of the Peg but intended for pavement and NOT trails. i'e. simply a Peg 39 that's been "treated" to GORE-TEX (I'm guessing it's just a "water resistent" spray)....Ummm....come to think of it I think I heard there IS a spray to "refresh" shoes....ummm....maybe use a "scotch guasrd" spray? ....no maybe not on 2nd thought....since the upper would still allow water to enter the shoe...heh...
I guess if you're looking for a "water resistant" runnning shoe THIS is the shoe. SNot a lot of choice out there oddly enough.
Great points. The Pegasus “Shield” versions appear to be waterproof but not GORE-TEX. I have the Shield version of the Peg Turbo and it’s waterproof as far as I can tell
@@FreshBrewRunClub I recall the "shield" . Odd Nike would have the Shield and a GTX l trail shoe. Dont know if Nike still makes the Peg Shield. (2022).
