“It’s not easy, but it is simple.” I love this line. People always confuse the two.
Easy refers to action.
Simple refers to conceptual understanding.
@@entropie138 Easy is actually referring to the effort required, simple is the action and the understanding.
@@duewhat9815 The effort required to make the action
It's easy as well as simple........never trust an adulterous 304, make any excuse to get out or the adulterous douchebag will make you a hot bed of stds
I agree. It’s like losing weight. Ultimately, all you need to do is consume fewer calories than you burn. It’s difficult, but people often overcomplicate it
'We'll be happy for what? A few weeks, a few months? Then I'll say something insensitive, or I'll start ignoring you. At first it'll be okay, it's just House being House. Then, at some point you will need something more. You'll need someone who can give you something I can't.'
That's one of the saddest lines I've ever heard on House. Mainly because House was not sarcastic that time at all.
Thank you
@Lone Ranger it’s called The Comment Section, where people can Comment on the content of the video, and the OP did exactly that in case you didn’t read his Comment all the way to the end.
Absolutely true, basically what happened with Cuddy
Ironic how House is commonly perceived as selfish, and yet, his one shot at happiness after a long time, he throws away so that he doesn't hurt someone.
Even tho Stacy stayed with house for 5 years before the show before the infarction and he still was the same person
He would rather be miserable than be the cause of someone’s misery
😢😢😢
Makes him a good doctor.
That's a total lie and the show portrays it very clearly.
"How did you get past that?"
"Didn't"

Enkii Muto I left my heart there
Wow you saw that part too???
i get that house sounded snippy, but i think mark was wrong for thinking he was being sarcastic/flippant. house was right, their relationship didn't get through that. how is house supposed to give him advice on a hurdle he couldn't overcome himself?
This is a great example of love: Knowing you’re not right for someone and getting out of their way so they can be happy. Sometimes just wanting someone isn’t enough and House saw that. The writers of this show were SO good!
He just didn't want her to hurt him again.
No, if you really love someone, you will become right for them. Walking away is just cowardice
@Ar D I meant that one should try to become better instead of just accepting they're not good enough and calling it quits. It's different
I think he noticed that Cuddy was jealous and thought he might still have a chance with her
@@persey7241 I think you picked an awful choice of word but I understand your sentiment. You should never change for somebody. You should change for yourself. Because you want to be that better person. House recognizes that he couldn't do that and he spared Stacy the misery of dealing with it.
Only house could make a guy so angry, he literally jumps off his wheelchair a starts climbing the stairs just to get him
he didnt jump because he was angry, he did it because he was extremely desperate

House does the right thing and still gets yelled at by Wilson
I feel like I'm the only one that thinks House left Stacy cause he sympathized for Mark.
@deekat3279 as much as we give for your existence
House admired Mark - envied his passion.
What Wilson said was correct - but not in this instance.
That's some fabulous writing.
That is exactly it. All that stuff about him not being able to make Stacy happy is bullcrap. We all could see House becoming a better man when he’s with Stacy. The one thing that made him break it off was seeing how his happiness could cause another an unbearable misery. It’s one of those rare moments where House’s compassion really beamed through.
If he was doing anything for Mark he'd be honest to him so that he could get someone who isn't an unfaithful whore. He cut it off purely for Stacy's benefit.
@@Staymare tell us how you _really_ feel!
House : "you're not ready for this. I have the high ground"
Mark: You underestimate my arm strength!
Literally
3:20 The moment House realises how much Mark is ready to go through just not to lose her (ToT)
You all miss the point : that in spite of his scumbaggery, House has feelings. He saw what Mark was going through and he decided to get out of the way. He told Stacy some true things : that he would eventually go back to the same things that made the relationship fail the first time so he figured Mark would be better for her, giving her a much more stable life. This allowed him to leave her to Mark, because he cared about Mark's feelings. The bottom line with House is that in spite of his nastiness he cares about people .
Their relationship failed because what Stacey decided to do with his leg as his proxy
@@afihaileywibowo1095 And it failed because House couldn't forgive her for it
6:58, The way Wilson opens that door. YOU MAD BRO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
In my opinion; House is the embodiment of depression. Even when he can have what he thought he craved, he sabotages it. Stacy/Methadone/Cuddy he always finds a way to sabotage himself. Big Feels :(
@Akshay Natu That's not true. When he had his leg fixed temporarily, he was upbeat, faster to diagnose and encouraged people to come to conclusions faster. He's better when he's healthy and content. The only thing he loses is his self pity. Wilson once told him that the reason he stopped looking for a way to cure his own leg is it allows him to justify buying a jerk to everyone without accepting responsibility that he gets off by stressing people out and gloating. He doesn't have to live life as a jerk, but a part of him loves it, and that part is stronger than the part of him that actually wants to be happy.
@Akshay Natu Not true, he was already mater of his craft before he had the incident with the thigh muscle death. Cuddy mentioned that he was a legend when alluding to their one night stand when she was just a graduate meaning before he was with Stacy.
House was always a bit childish and direct, but he wasnt bitter, so extremely cynical and miserable or jaded as he is in latter part of the series. Addiction to vicodin, constant pain, break off of the relationship with Stacy back then made him descent slowly to this middle ground he is in beginning of the series, where he still shows more compassion and not as much cynicism atleast not to everyone.
After season 3 House went down a spiral, with deaths of Kutner and Amber and increasingly worse and worse addiction.
Vicodin never made him a genius and he didnt need to be a miserable wreck to diagnose people correctly. He always was gifted in that regard.
@@Kacpa2 yes and after season 6 they just really made house more cynical and so much more selfish then before.

this is one of the episodes that hurt me the most House had a chance to be happy to be with the woman he loved and he threw it away.
Vito Mcsween example of wrong choices . This is exactly how he should have been with
It would have just ended again like the relationship with Cuddy did unless House changed. That was he said too that he would need to change to be with Stacy.
Also I don’t think we should be rooting for an adulterous affair.
He doesn't believe he deserves to be happy. His misery makes him a good doctor
He actually thought that ending up in the same way again, would be unbearable.
@Kathleen Flacy Because it's fun
She's an ethical lawyer who can't apply ethics to her own relationship. Then she wants to say her feelings are hurt because somebody applied ethics to her. Excuse me while I play the world's smallest violin for the world's smallest person
"I don't wanna go there again"
Cuddy: "I'm gonna do what you call a pro gamer move"
One of the best parts of looking back at this series is the dichotomy between what characters *say* about what House is thinking/feeling versus what he's ACTUALLY thinking or feeling. Stacy's words cut House so deep, but she doesn't even notice because she's too absorbed in her own world: she claims that if she never tells her husband, it will never hurt...but refusing to be responsible and cut it off with him to be with House *hurts House.*
That he never says this is part of what makes this work. It's *his* pain...but nobody ever seems to care about his pain. So he'll manage it, like he always does...with drugs, TV, sarcasm, and saving lives. Nothing has to change for him...except he needs a new shelf for the new broken pieces of his heart.
deep dude, just deep
Good insights. Yes indeed, House feels the sting of Stacy deliberately NOT choosing House over Mark. Stacy left House and found Mark. She committed to Mark. She loved Mark so much that she brought Mark to House for House to treat. And lo and behold, here's House again. Stacy succumbs to House's overtures of affection. The energy that House spent to "win" Stacy over was considerable, and yet even after all that, she refuses to "choose" House and relinquish her ties to Mark. House also sees just how willing Mark is to hold on to Stacy; Mark literally humiliates himself by crawling up the stairs and clinging to House's legs (such as they are) begging him for help with Stacy. House sees in Mark the lengths that he himself is NOT willing to go to. And he also sees in Stacy, someone who is still hedging her bets, leaving House with the very real understanding that Stacy was holding on to her exit strategy.
Your insight about how NOBODY really bothers to understand or investigate the pain (physical or emotional) that he experiences. Everybody wants House for his answers (just like the janitor guy in Japan whom they all go to when they have to, in Son of Coma Guy). Even Stacy initially only came to House for answers regarding Mark's health. House telling the story of the janitor dude in Japan is actually a sad confessional about how House sees himself and how he suspects people see him as well (an untouchable aka an unrelatable person).
I don't know if I'm getting this right or wrong, but I believe House's choice to leave Stacy wasn't one dimensional.
The first reason was probably because he felt some sympathy towards Mark and maybe even found himself to be similar to Mark in some ways. Both were injured but then abandoned. The thing is, we know that House has always been living on Misery. Maybe he doesn't know how to live without it anymore. So this could be the 2nd reason - the fact that he didn't want to change the way he was. And he felt too fragile around Stacy. As Wilson says in this episode, House has been pining for Stacy for 5 years. And she's the only one he got married to out of love. So maybe he's a chicken at heart and was too afraid of losing his greatness by letting go of the misery and becoming happy. Then again, he simply could've done it because he believed he genuinely couldn't change himself to make Stacy happy because he wasn't a romantic. Remember how he says that the patient's act of sacrificing her liver rather than admitting the truth was almost romantic. We know that he's mostly psychopathic and always makes realistic choices. So, he chose to spare both himself and Stacy from the misery. I think he made the choice based on all of these. And that's the beauty of this show - You just can't be sure which one it really is. Or if it's actually one of these or all of them.
I think it was both reasons you mentioned
Indeed !!!! So many layers to it
Mark deserves better than Stacy in my opinion.
That is the real thing
@@BraceletGrolf What is?
Omg yes i thought i was the only one who felt bad for mark here

House & Stacy were everything!!!!! He sacrificed his own happiness because he knew he couldn’t make her happy. That’s legit
So sad
He didn't have the same chemistry like he did with Cuddy though.
@Akshay Natu the sad truth
What are you talking about? House is a narcissist, and doesn't have emotions associated with normal and loving people. He cannot be in a normal relationship for long. Such people should live single lives, because they will ruin others and if they have kids, their kids will be doomed.
@Akshay Natu Absolutely, that's why better for them to be alone and in their own world, instead of ruining the lives of others because they don't have the compassion or empathy, which when one lacks is no good than an animal. One example: I have read the biography of Isaac Newton (perhaps the greatest genius who ever lived) and he wished to be alone and for most of his life he rarely conversed with people, also he was rumored to have some sort of autism traits.
"If I never tell him, then he'll never be hurt." That's the level of hypocrisy and entitlement that makes Stacy so wrong for House.
you kidding? that makes them a match made heaven
"She will never find out! That's the point of lying!"
Wilson has a way of finding house even tho his almost always in a different place.
The classic 'Casablanca' ending.
Sacrificing his own happiness for the greater good.
Outstanding.
How mature their love is... Imagine loving someone and having the courage to let her go because you know she wont be happy with you...
6:14
I'm sorry Stacy.
"I love you too much to ever hurt you again..."
It’s perhaps ironic that House is being more human here. It is interesting that this is his least self destructive moment and also his most vulnerable yet strong decision. Along with having the brutally honest conversation with his best friend, two people who in some ways shouldn’t be, but are ideal as colleagues and friends.
Man, Sela Ward is SO good. You can almost hear her heart breaking. Brilliant acting

Dear God I've been looking for this comment. I got confused, how is every comment about how amazing Stacy is. On my part she's the reason I'm not enjoying season 2 right now.
Both Wilson and House are tecnically right.

House eventually recognised he'd been Mark. That Stacey was doing the same things to him, whilst he was recovering.
"If I never tell him, it'll never hurt."
Stacey is a person who was drowning in her own pool.
These two were fucking perfectly written. I will never not love the dynamic between them and I profoundly missed her after her departure from the show.
I'm convinced that House changing his mind had nothing to do with Stacy. Watching Mark struggle up those steps made House respect him, and after that he could no longer justify the affair with Stacy. He was gonna go through with it when Mark was just some schmuck he didn't like or respect... but that respect changes everything for House.
Who else noticed it was a green screen when they were on the roof
Kind of hard not to
Noticed when the clouds didn’t move
The scene with House and Wilson hit HARD for me. Bc my ex, the love of my life, is so like House. And I literally said to him once “Being a martyr doesn’t win you anything. It just means you fall on the stake. You sacrifice yourself hoping someone will notice and care, but they don’t, and they Never will, bc humanity sucks. But you don’t have to do that with me.” But like House he chose to cling to his pain. It’s so sad, but its real.
@Akshay Natu I personally don’t believe that. I personally believe he could be happy and contented and still be a genius diagnostician. I don’t believe a person needs to be miserable to be exceptional at what they do. But again, that’s just my opinion, and either one works in the context of the show.
And you despite claiming to be a adulterous cheater have the audacity to lecture people on RUclips..........do you think anyone will be stupid enough to spend their precious time with a cheater........ everyone understands if they cheat with you they will cheat on you.
If I woke up to Sela Ward in my bed, and I got a call to go into work...I'd be like: "work...I ain't never comin' in no more. Take it easy."
x2
I’ll meet Dr. Wilson halfway on that yes being miserable is a bad thing but when one is miserable and everybody else has to tolerate their misery simply for the fact that they bring more to the table than anyone else it does validate a person
I️ love how house only cares about her and cuddy, but he shows actual compassion here that he never shows, it’s one of the rare moments when house shows emotion by simply stating it and not after he does something stupid
Well, all I know is that Stacy has got some issues she needs to resolve on her own.
I loved their dynamic. I hated how they turned House into a complete sociopath at the end of the series.
Addiction will do that. Especially when the addiction formed due to pain not just the fun of doing Vicodin.
Exactly in season 8 and half of season 7 they just really carved out the humanity in him. Bfore the last two season there's several scenes where he does show some level of caring. And then they forgot about that in s7 and s8
After all the pain, loss, conflicts and adiction house had through the series, that was the most realístic than having Him brushing everything off and being happy go lucky, he wasn't a stoner or a heavy drinker, he was on the heroin level of adictions...totally different things
@@nedababic8865that didn't happened outbof the blues, the events of prior season impacted on that...

Why are people ignoring the big elephant in the room in this scenario. She CHEATED on her husband. That is more than a reason why House might be reserved about her and more so after seeing Mark’s condition. I thought Wilson was more sensible than this. He should be happy House dumped her. Cuddy made him the happiest, happier than even Stacy, but she didn't throw him away wtf lol. She forgave him so much, she's "dying" and he leaves her to hop back on drugs to cope. And even that wouldn't have happened if the actress didn't leave.

Neither of them would've been happy. A guy who fears vulnerability and a woman who always thinks "that grass looks greener" is going to self-destruct no matter what feelings there are. i can't see anyone blaming stacy. she was deceiving all of them. says she hates house wants to continue the affair without mark knowing it and all that so she can have good things to herself
I hate the part house leaves her.
He deserved every bit of that relationship except the heart break. For once he should've been selfish where it was actually needed.
Maybe hes to insegure, I think this is the most honest action he couldn't done, he told Stacy that nothing is going to change and she wont be happy with him, House saw himself in Stacy's husband wich concluded that he will be so sad and miserable if that happen to him, because her husband really loves her.
I think he did love her really but he decided she wouldnt be happy with him cause he isnt gonna change so he moved out of the way so she can be happy.
She was with another man. Nobody "deserves" to inflict such utter emotional ruin upon somebody else.
Our core of actions are always selfish. Even helping other people is selfish. If we didn't feel good when we help other people we wouldn't do it. That's what Wilson pointed out. Ultimately even if House did that to save Stacey from him, he did it more so to save himself from the misery of failing to become the man that would be right for her and the extra misery of watching it all through her eyes.

They should make another 8 seasons . I've watched the whole series a million times
They literally shouldn't. This show almost outstayed it's welcome already.
In most romantic movies or TV shows, the guy who says "I'm not the one for you," will typically eventually have more confidence in himself and that he can be someone worthy for his lover. As such he'll end up running back to the girl right before she leaves, have a heated conversation with her about why he left her only to come back yet again, and convince her that they're meant to be once more. However- this isn't one of those shows. This is a show about remorse, about pride shrouding guilt and self-loathing. Stacy never comes back. House doesn't get the girl. Why? Because it's real. House shows us all how depression can manifest itself, in this case, the outward denial that you're miserable, but the inward self-hatred that haunts you every day. And the worst part? You push away everyone who just wants to help you.

The writers are just a bunch of geniuses
*If I never tell him, it'll never hurt.*
Does that imply Stacey did the same thing to House whilst he was recovering?
House kind of recognized he'd been Mark. So the end was the best.
That Sole phrase seal the desk about how Stacy didn't changed at all, no Mather the puppy eyes or the broken voice, being willing to lie that way to "protect" Mark (More like herself) just to be with house felt like a fleeting moment or passion and a desperate attempt to get away with not feeling guilt...repeating the same pattern she did with house years ago...i think that's was More powerful than all the other options
That lawyer lady has a magnificent back.
What Dr. House did was bad, and what Stacey (being the hospital’s lawyer and Mark’s wife) did was unconscionable. Stacey cheated on her husband with one of her clients.
Is it possible that Stacy was just one of House's diagnosis? I mean think about it, House is still not over Stacy and Stacy's still not over House; but House doesn't know that, it's just another one of his guesses. So he does everything he can to prove it, he helped Stacy with her pest problem, told her he's changed (even if it's one big fat lie) and even did the dishes (that ain't him) House was obsessed in finding out if Stacy ever was still in love with her that he stole her files and that pretty much was the end of his diagnosis, she is still in love with him and now he knows so he persisted on trying to win her back even if it means wrecking her marriage with Mark. But, knowing House, it was easier to leave Stacy with his diagnosis confirmed and that's probably the reason why he left, not just because of Mark (I mean come on, he also saw Mark's desperation), but also because his guesses were right. I mean love is just a neurological symptom, kinda. Just my theory though, anyone House enough to trash it and make their own?😂
Are you serious house is finally thinking about others now this is got to be a high on the vicotin
