I'm not sure if there's any other Gaming CEO that has made so many massive plays happen...Some are going to say "What games released under him?" but that is not the only thing that matters as someone in charge of a platform. That is a big PART of it yes, and arguably the most important part, but so much more than that has happened under him it's insane.

Let's hope all those COD support studios will start doing something other than COD. I like Call of Duty but I believe should start pivoting, especially with the departure of Bobby Kotick, to either untouched franchises like Prototype or start to create new franchises. All I want to see from Activision-Blizzard and Xbox as a whole is that they implement a strategy to make good games and not allow time constraints or shareholders in anyway to influence the launch of any game, indie or not. Summary: All I want is DAMN F*CKING GOOD GAMES TO PLAY. ALL HAIL XBOX!
I’m totally with you on freeing up those support studios if they want to be. On a business level it makes sense they don’t stop with the cash flow CoD produces being an annual thing, but hopefully they can ease it back to bi-annual, let the other teams through out all of Xbox support a bit if needed, and let that ease of workload allow the other Activision teams to make other games. If the goal is to have a major Xbox first party release every quarter, they have more than enough to do that now without it being Call of Duty every year as one of em.
They have a tonne of work to do next year. From getting as much content on Game Pass to the integration of all the studios and what they're going to make under Xbox. Exciting times if you play on Xbox.

What was I feeling. I had no doubt this would not close. We will see lots of games on GP quickly, my guess within days. Bringing everything to GP right away is not gonna all at once at that would not profit MS. Will portion things out for sure. My guess is MS is gonna start production on many IP's ABK has been ignoring. Next 5-6 years will start to get interesting. So this real deal will be on the new 2028 Xbox. Thats where Sony needs to plan for.
You said it pretty much. We won't feel the real effects of this till probably 2025 at best, but it'll be great to play a lot of Activision and Blizzards back catalogue when they get on Game Pass. That said I think Call of Duty is the only thing we won't be seeing as a launch title till 2025, but everything else is super fair game. You think they'll have a round table like they did with Bethesda?

It was just legal hurdle after legal hurdle. Some would say it’s to defend consumerism, others would say it was to try and fight corporations...all I know is during the court hearing with the ftc, our government seemed to be all about defending Sony rather than Consumers.
Imagine future and some old games coming not only to Gamepass but will have that Xbox Play Anywhere badge. One digital purchase and you can play the game on PC, Console and Handheld devices with cross progression.
I just hope this isn't another Rare situation where core people leave who made the studio what it was, and release games that underperform. Granted, I still think BK Nuts and Bolts was a great game with Banjo slapped on it. But I digress. Hmmmm....Maybe anything they mentioned in that signed contract will have to be avoided to have discounts on Game Pass, but that'd be kinda wild either way sine you either are breaking your promise to XGP subs or having the cheaper option than your competitor.

New Crash Bandicoot games were always going to happen from Toys for Bob regardless of this acquisition happening or not. A new Spyro game will be announced at the game awards and will be happening regardless if the acquisition happened or not. I don't understand why Microsoft buying Activision all of a sudden means there's a new golden age on the horizon for whatever IP you like. They have not proven to be beneficial in managing the teams they already own. All Activision is going to do is keep doing what they always have done. If anything, Activision should be running Microsoft on all the dev teams and IP. There's no certainty for the future of games so acting like this is objectively a good thing is hasty and short-sighted.

Same here. So far a lot of folks at AciBliz are seeming excited about the situations on the dev/workers side of things, but only time will tell.
