Unsolved Mysteries, hosted by Robert Stack, did a segment about it as well. That’s where I first heard of it & the episode of Unsolved Mysteries aired years before the movie.
I live about 40 miles from Anniston & it was a bad thing that happened I don't know how Marie could keep up the masquerade for years! Now nobody ever mentions this case anymore but I remember well when it happened Thanks so much for this & I love your channel!
Im listening to part 3 of Case 53 right this moment and saw today/tonights upload just now !! Thank you Casefile you really are the very best at what you do ☆☆♡♡
Im still wondering how Marie Hilley died? What happened to her after she left her husband John Homan? Did her flight to Canada fall through? Or was she deliberately bumped off? How did she end by crawling 15mls to the house she was found at ? What did her autopsy say? Was she poisoned with arsenic or did she take it herself? It just doesnt end with much clarity! Not that im saying Casefiles hasnt done its usual brilliant research, but the Black Widows demise seems odd. Anyway great episode! Ive been a huge fan for years & having listened to every episode more than once, im thrilled when a new one comes out Does anyone else think its strange that the game of Casefiles which was started in Australia & features mainly Australian crime initially & is narrated by an Aussie yet their own board game is available everywhere except Australia yet? Maybe Casefiles should investigate this! Lol Thank you CF youre the Best 🇬🇧👧
She wondered around in the woods in the pouring rain apparently waiting for someone to pick her up & they didn't show up She died of cardiac arrest & exposure I live about 40 miles from Anniston
She died of exposure after wandering around in the cold and rain for 4 days after she failed to return to the prison when the furlough ended. I live in Birmingham, about 60 miles from Anniston.
I absolutely love your channel. I spend so much time listening to your podcasts. Would you consider doing the Jack family? It's a pretty spooky story I feel would be perfect for a podcast like this.
@@rashone2879 after you typed her name wrong when the title was in front of your eyes, you have the audacity to correct my spelling. When you will be able to speak another language beside English came and correct me again clear. And the phone autocorect is set to another language not to English.
Correct grammar: “You wanted to WRITE”, not, “You wanted to wrote”. It’s that simple. Also, RUclips with it’s annoying habit of filling in words you haven’t finished typing is how I got Hillary (RUclips loves Hillary) instead of Hilley. Do you also say things like, “I wish I could ‘of’ went…”? If so, you got cheated out of a good education.
John was unbelievably gullible. After everything she did, it's shocking that he would continue to trust her. Suing for the funeral expenses was just ridiculous.
Dependent personality disorder - maybe? Definitely she was mentally messed up, manipulative, controlling, dishonest, imposter, living in fantasy. A healthy person would sense at the beginning of the relationship that this is a go-nowhere zone. But a DPD person may have felt at home with her.
She was remarkably good at manipulating all sorts of people. I live in Birmingham, AL, about 60 miles away from Anniston and knew people who knew her. Many were initially in disbelief that she would have ever harmed anyone. A truly evil piece of work.
It's frustrating that these kind of offenders are seemingly extraordinarily intelligent, cunning, resourceful and charming. I suppose it might also be that we don't here about the unsophisticated ones because their paths of destruction are mercifully cut short due to incompetence. It does seem though their intellects seem unique and unsual in how they seem to outwit and utterly convince. People unfortunate enough to be in her grasp read like little kittens at Marie's every whim-- it's incredible to listen to these cases. In fact there is a very comparable case - another woman - here in the UK, can't recall her name sorry but it was early 20th century. Just seemed hell bent on poisoning literally everyone she could.
I was listening to this latest episode whilst driving back from a mates place in Sorrento, Victoria....to my home in Melbourne.....Omg....brooo......duuuuuude....guys!!!!! Never listen to this sh*ttttt whilst driving alone at night through random isolated towns back to the city during NIGHT TIME....Im NOT lying...at the start of my trip back home I was wearing my brand new white Calvin Klein underwear. Upon arriving home at Port Melbourne after listening to this podcast, I am now wearing white calvin klein underwear with brown stains in the back. Totes shit myself
A master manipulator and, despite her claims of being tired of running, she seemed like she loved the deception and the thrill of her lifestyle. Regular folks falling for her stories and ruses is understandable I guess (if sometimes kind of unbelievable), but you'd think those experienced in dealing with crafty criminals might be wise to that kind of thing, but clearly not. SMH. In the end, sounds like she got her just desserts. No mercy for her here.
How sad.... Jess? Was that the name of your coworker, who sneaks off to play a silly game? Instead of being with her family? And she can bring it with her on holiday and play that game all the time, -again missing valuable time with her family..... How sad.... I can't believe I've never heard of this case. Thank you for all you do.
There's a great old movie about her with Judith Light. Can't recall the title but it's free on yt.

Love how you come at this from a different direction.

Wow! Gotta give this woman an A for effort.. The lies and the changes of identities left me feeling exhausted!
I'm late to the party, but on a binge catching up! What a team of talented people, who make this show..... brilliant production! 👏👏👏
I've heard a few youtubers cover this case but never in this much details and told differently. I love it
I thought I was going to have to watch some utter nonsense, but then a new Casefile popped up. Phew!
Jayne, my thoughts exactly >8-D

What's it about?
Yeah that's creepy.
Family of 4 vanish in the middle of the night August '89 after meeting a stranger in Canada.
@@White-Michael935 I'll look it up
In 1991, a television movie was made starring Judith Light as Marie Hilley.
This was a brand new case for me ; such a twisted case! Another great video thanks again
Love your videos and podcasts!
i always look forward to your next episode...thank you :)
One hell of an Amazing Story!!!!!… Wow!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Great channel 👍🏻
Thanks everyone from team CASEFILE >8-D
This is the story of Marie Hillary presented in a weird, creative version.
You wanted to wrote Hilley not Hillary
@@loredanadincu4300 yes, and you wanted to type WRITE not write. I hope that was a typo.

Wow. What an incredible tale.
I have watched the Lifetime for Women movie about Marie Hilley many times, but I enjoy this story and could listen to it many more times.
Yay...been waiting all week. Love a new casefile on a Saturday.. ❣🍎🌟🎬#winecasefile&chill

She left an actual Dear John letter 😂

She fooled a lot of people and was a true sociopath, why John Homan stood by her is a mystery to me
