You're absolutely right. Even if your ship is faster and outfitted with better lights, if you go out sailing whilst in "full sicko mode", the game will teach you a lesson. I remember thinking I had nothing to fear after fully upgrading my ship and so I was like "Eh, I'll just sail in the night, in the evil fog and outmaneuver whatever comes up" until the game threw what seemed like it would be an insta-kill and then I became much more cautious afterward.

What little ive delved into lovecraftian horror tells me that the lighthouse keeper is probably the most sane/trustworthy person you encounter whos relevant to the story
This took me 18 hours to complete on PC and it probably could be done in 15 with better luck and map knowledge. Surprised Ray did this on PC but maybe that was part of the sponsorship.

E: re playing with a controller, it works pretty well, its just slightly more annoying than m/kb transferring from left to right inventories, you either have to scooch the joystick over a bunch, or press in left/right (for either side) joystick. Looks way easier on keyboard but you get used to it on controller. Otherwise, regular movement is just fine, you can access the map/pursuits/etc directly with the dpad
Dredge seems wonderful this is what gaming is about, unique games like this, Dredge, or portal, splitgate, Deep Rock Galactic, not cod of duty the umpteenth fucking military shooty mans what if we had a lovecraftian cthulu-ey game, and a fishing sim, but actually did the fishing sim in a fun game way, and it lended into the spooky not knowing the exact ins and outs, and it's spooky at night and you don't know the exact risk but your suspicion makes it scarier It's very well crafted horror and peace at the same time
ngl, when i first saw the Collector (un-shadowed), i thought he looked like Ray because the facial hair and haircut look exactly alike lol this game looks really cool and fun :O i'll def. check it out in the future!
