thank ypu for sharing. a positive response by fdr to educate and build for then tommorrow for what we have today. it was hard work for little money yet it was an investment that prepared boys to be good men that got the job done.
it was a do work under military leadership. in preparation of second world warld two and the baby bpomb and the new prosparity of the baby boomer generation..
my wife was born a year before me. and her father served in the ccc. he had a son in 1942 and went to guam to serve in the us army air force 1945-6 stationed at guam.
he built a house in 1949. it was a camp style house with concrete and a massive brick fire place and he had a coal stove in the basement. he was a very handy person and strong morale fiber. i wish that i could have met him in person. he passed away before i met his daughter.

My father and his brothers were CCC boys. I have my father's patch. All three would later enlist ..one each to the Army, Navy, and Marines and fought in WWII. My father spoke fondly of the hard work he did planting trees. He was thankful for the work as his father had passed away. He was the oldest so he had to support his four siblings and help his mother.
