Post-minimalism is like something that has stucked on its way to minimalism close to its destination. With the beginning of the way somewhere in another world.
Very interesting lecture. I stumbled upon many of these mentioned artists works and styles on Pinterest a few years ago and fell in love with these styles, but wasn’t quite sure of the back story and history they originated from. This has helped me discover more of my identity as an artist.
A lot of great information in your talk. Thank you for posting it. However, please double check your date of 1960 (39:10 in your video) for Irwin's acrylic disc wall-mounted pieces.
To secure the One Ton Prop so that it doesn't collapse is sad. The idea of being in the museum where the One Ton Prop is being displayed is electric because of the possibility of it actually collapsing. The museum simply makes sure that the space around the work is ample so that if it did collapse, no harm would be done. Now my real point here is that...can you imagine if you were in the museum one day and the work (1 ton of lead) actually collapsed??!!!!!! What a memory you would have for a life time! Seeing (or perhaps not, you may have been in a different part of the museum) the work and hearing the massive work collapse as well!!! Now that would be true art and the avant guard element intersecting! If you appreciate the Avant Guard, this would be the real deal. EDIT-- As soon as you secure this art work from falling down, you have de-neutered it...that's not a good thing if you truly care about art....and actually, you don't understand art.
The art of Light is extremely beautiful and can be enjoyed by anyone without any knowledge.
