I am so happy that I've discovered these lectures. Thank you so so so much, as someone who refuses to spend any amount of money on college. I'm learning something I'm passionate about, the teacher is clear, concise, and careful. Amazing.

Thank you for the lecture. I enjoyed the concise overview and especially liked the anecdotes. I do however have to point out two inaccuracies that could lead to misconceptions.
    1. The only consensus among interpretations of Nietzsche is that he was not a nihilist. All of his literary life he had been railing against dogmas and the loss of meaning in general. His end goal being a rediscovered vitality.
The memebers of Der Blaue Reiter paid homage to Nietzsche's attitude in their imaginative and experimental art.
    2. The Russian Civil War was not yet about the bolsheviks fighting amongst themselves. Rather it was about the bolsheviks fighting against anybody else.

To me, I think Dadaism can be seen as a funnel that other movements must pass through. If that is denied then Dadaism is not receiving the importance it deserves. To me it seems that it was the launching pad for Conceptual Art, which is tremendously important as the basis for Art as a thing.

A VERY realistic painting requires no imagination. Hence we see motel art.

Hey! I love your videos so much. Check out Hilma aft Klint, she was a very early abstract painter, and it’s likely she began abstraction earlier than Kandinsky!

I appreciate your content and admire your courage. I'm sorry that this is my first comment BUT can we please stop referring to the totality of Africa, a whole continent with diverse groups of people in it, as if it is a country. Surely we are better than that. Thanks again for coming out about this very difficult struggle.

Sadly too often conceptual "art" or contemporary experimental "music" is just antiart and antimusic. It is probably I many cases the epitome of human stupidity (I am saying it in its technical use).
