- Chaco Culture National Park is a World Heritage Site located in the arid desert lands of New Mexico. This sacred site, often called 'the centre of the centre' housed an ancient civilisation that, despite living in extreme weather conditions, built complex multi-story structures and developed trade routes throughout present-day Central America and the United States.

I learned about this place from a book called "Bone Walker", written by archeologists W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear. It's the 3rd book of their Anasazi Mysteries series.
Thanks for the tip.
I’ll check out those books.
Much more interesting than Mesa Verde. And way fewer tourists.
I missed the part where they date this culture and architecture.

The Four Corners Area USA - the Hopi Native Americans say is the HEART of Mother EARTH. It is a very SACRED Area. It is why the Hopi Native Americans live close to the Earth and take great care to RESPECT Mother Earth. They cause as little harm to Earth as possible. The waters were always fresh & clean due to their care.
With my respect, "One of the most important buildings in the history of the entire world" maybe is a bit exagerated.
"Our local historical attraction may be one of the most important heritage sites in all of the world" is a very common phrase in tourism.
Hi riki...i request you to search for harrapan and mohenjodaro civilisation of india.
Indeed it is. Sounds like a Trumpism
@Thomas Hobbs-Allen how exactly are you defining the importance of different societies? and what makes you the authority to decide the importance of each?
The history of that place shouldnt just be a local interest, so in a sense he is right
Wow I’ve been there! That was unexpected.
How lucky to see it in person! You were lucky!
Very interesting!
저런 유적지 정말 좋아하는데 잘봤습니다 👍💐
Wow
I would love to know the extent of their trade routes. Prehistory is full of trade routes not often spoken of

@@realemperorkuzco ah thanks i missed that.
I would like a detailed DNA trace through the indigenous communities to see how they all relayed to each other!
Thanks a lot BBC..
For covering such a important knowledge about accident history.
Accident history?
Wow.
Where is that place and the island of his country
Chaco Canyon, in New Mexico, United States of America.
Videos like this are what i liv 4
Any community college will have a class in anthropology and some even do trips. Well worth the money or taking out a student loan if you can.
It doesn´t say that what happend to them. Where didi they go? and one another thing is. perhaps in that time this desert was green with a lot of trees.
@Thomas Hobbs-Allen you are genius. I didn´t know that!!
There be some haters in the comments ... or more like elitists? Like cool, new world civilizations are younger than those found in the continents of Africa and Asia. But some of the comments seem to imply new world civilizations are just inferior to other continents' ancient civilizations. 🤔
It's can be called racism.
Looks like gerudo valley 💝
Squash, Beans, and Corn.
U can compare India buildings Mexican how Hindus updated strong and perfect stones
More like they used all the resources..
Absolutely!! But this is lifecycle on earth!!!
If you see nowadays this civilisation makes same mistakes!!!
Major development it’s located on costliness for trade convenience! Big earthquake will trigger huge tsunami and this will end this civilisation unless you will become wiser and be prepared and help people with brilliant minds creativity to create places that be safer from natural disaster and this civilisation could have better start to build new civilisation!!! Urban people don’t know how to survive without this system that this civilisation has built and its not rocket science that they will have tough time to survive despite there be everything to do so!!!
México in Central America? That guy really doesn't know his geography.
Central of the American continent. Americans really don't know the world.
@@brian7android985 Central America consists of the countries between Mexico and South America.
@@brian7android985 Mexico is in North America. Central America isn't a relative term. Idk where you're from, but you don't seem to "know the world" either.
The civilizations of Harappa and Moenjodaro predate this and other civilizations in the western hemisphere by about 5000 years. These mega cities hosted thousands of people, traded with Sumeria and Mesopotamia, laid out their cities along a grid, had covered drainage, used baked earth pipes for water, and syphoned water from the River Indus using hydraulic pumps. The cities were located at the banks of the Indus and were therefore built on top of platforms sometimes 30 meters high, made out of baked brick. Cotton was cultivated here, so was Indigo. The civilizations were destroyed by unknown forces, and the system of writing is complex, using many complicated symbols which have still not been deciphered. These cities are situated in my country, Pakistan, and are 7000 years old. The Pueblo culture is recent comparatively
I love IVC, but It's not a competition
It's not a competition and also the Harappans only predate the Ancestral Puebloans by 3,000 years not 5,000.
That's interesting. Somehow India forgot that with all it's civilization that public defecation is something unacceptable.
I won't ever go there!!!
Watch djt and his cronies blow it up!
Politics..really? Give it a rest.
I don’t believe you should be changing AD and BC to CE I believe that it’s anathema !
Silk road was in Asia, not in Europe. So get your facts reviewed.
He lost me with "the Silk Road in Europe". At least, he could have said "the Silk Road FOR Europe", but in this state, it just undermines his credibility...
While I understand your point. I don't necessarily believe it undermines his credibility. Because I think most people understand what he was trying to say. But it makes it very obvious that you were offended by it.
@@cgustafson240 No, it's not really a question of offense. It's just that the video makes some pretty bold claims, and that for me as a viewer to take it as serious, I need to be sure to know what they're talking about. And a mistake like that is the kind of vagueness that is not admissible from a scholar. Even if it understandable, it's not precise enough.
Also, I'm from Europe, so I don't have any claim on the ownership of the Silk Road.
@@ambergris5705 Definitely side with Ambergris on this one...
Yes, he was a bit out of his depth on this and other counts
Don’t be a dick.
Nobody is perfect.
You undermine yourself with such pettiness.
Hahaha, ‘in the entire world.’ Sure, it was nice, but these people were peasants compared to all big empires the world had produced before or at the same time.
