I love how these reaction vids tell the lie that younger people are super sensitive. I'm of the same age as most of them and I laugh at all the horrible jokes and so do they :D
Fun story about this movie, the original ending was supposed to be Globo Gym winning at the end (playing into the "true underdog story" where the underdogs generally lose in real life). However, the studio hated the ending and made Stiller and the others change it for a happy ending. That's also why we get Stiller in the credits at the end complaining about the audience getting the ending they wanted. (It's also why the treasure chest says "Deus Ex Machina", it's them poking fun at the "unrealistic" ending.)
"Has Chuck Norris done any movies?" Oh, my stars & garters... You almost couldn't go to the cinema in the 70s & 80s without tripping over one of his movies, not to mention the tv series Walker, Texas Ranger. In fact in Will Ferrell's Talladega Nights his two sons are named Walker & Texas Ranger. Norris was "discovered" by Bruce Lee, and was one of the antagonists in Way of the Dragon. My own personal favorite is one of his earlier films, The Octagon.
One of the things I really like about this movie is how even the title is a joke. The whole title is "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story." It doesn't mean that it's a true story, but more like that this team is made up of "true underdogs." XD It's a really good parody movie, and pretty underappreciated. Glad you got to watch it.
Chuck Norris' claim to fame was that he was one of the first Americans to popularize martial arts. He was a Black Belt back when karate, and martial arts were relatively unheard of in the Wrst
Great reaction, another comedy you're sure to like is Balls of Fury, it's a parody of Bruce Lee's iconic Enter the Dragon. So, you may want to give it a watch beforehand if you haven't already seen it. Ball's of Fury came out around the same time as this movie and has Christopher Walken at his most hammy and corny best. Also, crossing my fingers that reactions to Black Adder, Fawlty Towers and Father Ted are in our future, once you've made it through Flying Circus of course. In regards to Black Adder, I would suggest skipping the first season. And since each season takes place in a different historical period, it's one of the few shows where you can do that without missing out or feeling lost. Besides you can always check out the 1st series afterward.
I remember seeing a BTS video about the making of dodgeball, and the "seduction" scene between Ben Stiller and his real life wife, Christine Taylor, took forever to shoot. Apparently, Ben kept adding "special touches" to the scene, and Christine couldn't keep a straight face. They eventually had to change camera angles to hide her laughter, and film parts of the scene separately for her to get through it. Lots of talent in that family.
Chuck Norris is familiar to fans worldwide as the star of action films such as The Hitman (1991), The Delta Force (1986) and Delta Force 2: The Colombian Connection (1990). He also starred in Missing in Action (1984) and its sequels, Firewalker (1986) and Sidekicks (1992). He was an executive producer of Walker, Texas Ranger (1993) as well as the star.
You have a dirty mind when you seen Ben Stiller painting holding the "bull's horn"we know what you thought he was holding but maybe you would enjoy him holding a unicorn horn...lol
I took my daughter to see this when she was about 12 and I anticipated that is think it was stupid.i loved it. It's been a guilty pleasure that I watch again from time to time
It's funny that the tagline is "A True Underdog Story", because the film is a true underdog movie. I don't think it did much at the box office, enough to avoid being a bomb but it built a cult status sometime later. It really deserves more attention than it gets. So many great lines and meme-worthy scenes yet I rarely see it quoted in everyday life.
I like your reactions because you're funny and dont get offended by everything that 'doesnt fly' these day. Plus you react to alot of movies that no one usually reacts to which is cool! lol Not sure if you've seen the Tim Burton movie Big Fish(2003). Its really good and super under rated! Anyways, keep it up Dawn!!

This is one of my favorite comedies. It’s not aged too great, but it’s still wonderful and a great parody of sports films. And you’ve become one of my favorite RUclips reactors! Your accent and your sense of humor is brilliant. Thank you for this reaction and keep up the good work!
The guy presenting the trophy is a small time actor by the name of Wiiliam Shatner. You may know him from an obscure show / movie series known as Star Trek
Even just because of the finale, it's worth watching this movie! La Fleur shot blindfolded, his cunning plan, the lesbians ... and of course, CHUCK NORIS!
As for the young Patches O'Houlihan, not only was he the "science guy", he's a huge part of The Simpsons. His name is Hank Azaria. Chuck Norris is an International Karate champion from the 60s/70s. After retiring from Karate he transitioned into movies and made a string of action films. Then he went to TV and played Walker, Texas Ranger.

This possibly is the apex of the Frat Pack movie sub genre. A bunch of guys making movies getting their friends in there too. The Wedding Singer, Something About Mary, Duce Biggalo, Old School. To name a few. Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Will Farrell, Steve Carrel, Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Luke or Owen Wilson

Lol 😅. Loved it. Chuck Norris was 7x Professional Kickboxing Association champ back in the 70' and also a judo black belt. He co-starred in Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee and was a c!ose friend of Lee's as well. Norris also starred in several movie's of his own and had a popular martial arts/crime drama TV series that's still in syndication. Jokes about Chuck's toughness have been popular in the media. One of the officials, btw, was played by William Shatner. Scottish bodybuilder turned actor who starred in TV and movies, particularly known for Star Trek.
Love this movie, f*****g Chuck Norris! thanks for reacting to it. Since you liked this one, you might also like Ben Stiller's another movie called the Zoolander, which is sort of similar movie, but about the well known connection of male modeling and political assassinations And yes, Chuck Norris was in movies, even in a Bruce Lee movie. However, he might be most famous for his Walker Texas Ranger movie/tv-series
@@tempsitch5632 Not really no. First of all, he was around in movies WAY before than that, in the late 60s. He did that famous illegal fight scene with Bruce Lee already in 1972, with whom Chuck Norris actually trained under. Second of all he did proto-Taekwondo called Tang Soo Do that was a hybrid of many others. He is also a master of grappling marts arts like judo and brazilian jiu-jitsu. Third of all, the craze were specifically started by kung fu in the 70s and then karate in the 80s, there was no kickboxing craze, even though there was an amazing kickboxing movie by Jean-Claude Van Damme in 1989
Ben Stiller has a lot of funny stuff, including Zoolander. But even funnier is Tropic Thunder, There's Something about Mary, and Along Came Polly... And I think I maybe like his movie that isn't really a comedy (but does have lots of comedy in it) with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty... that one surprised me because I thought it sounded like it would b bad and I wouldn't like it. But it did surprise me by being really good
This movie is a hidden gem, mainly for Patrick Bateman (the goofy announcer). He was a child actor that vanished when he became an adult, then showed up in Arrested Development. He's since really come into his own in a wide range, but he excels at oddball comedy. Another good Ben Stiller movie that was silly like this is Mystery Men. The scary woman on the Cobras is Missy Pyle, who you've probably seen a lot, but never with the same face. She was also the female alien in Galaxy Quest. "Purple cobra" is roughly the same as "bell end." The pep talk scene at the bar did not age well. That was Lance Armstrong. Everything he said about himself was true. He did have multiple cancers then came back to dominate the Tour de France. A few years after this came out, he revealed that he'd been doping (performance boosting drugs) the entire time, along with most other top racers. Chuck Norris was a professional kickboxer back around 1970. He was in a movie with Bruce Lee, then in the mid 70's became an action star. What set him apart from the crowd was he was a non-Asian doing real martial arts. This made him hugely popular in the US. When Schwarzenegger and Stallone came along later, they did action scenes, but Norris' fights were better, because he was really doing that stuff. later came Segal and Van Damme, and Norris transitioned to a long-running TV show called Walker, Texas Ranger.
Patrick Bateman was the serial killer in American Psycho. Chuck Norris isn't a kickboxer, he's a multi world championship winner in full-contact Karate
@@pimoen Bah. You're right on both counts. Jason Bateman... I questioned it but didn't double check. The Kickboxer description was a simplification, since the distinction is lost on most people.
Its weird how I use to refer to Jason Bateman as the guy from Teen Wolf 2. Now its the guy from arrested development. Just thought id share some useless information.
Great reaction as always Dawn Marie. I remember watching this movie for the first time and I thought it was really funny so you're not wrong. Seems as if we have similar sense of humor. You might want to check out one of my favorites. "Tommy boy"
This was a movie that I also went into with low expectations...but enjoyed the hell out of it. The one thing that REALLY didn't age well was the uplifting/words of wisdom moment from Lance Armstrong, considering his fall from grace a couple/few years after this movie came out. But it was a fun cast, some good jokes, some terrible jokes, and a good underdog sports movie.
...I think the advice still stands. It was a speech about not giving up even though he could have easily in the face of 3 cancer diagnoses. Drugs didn't have anything to do with him not giving up lol
@@hulkslayer626 Heh, I don't disagree that the message is still good, but it is just like listening to a good message from Bill Cosby now...just doesn't hold the same weight it once did, considering what we've since learned about the source. Sucks to see heroes & cultural icons fall.
Seeing Alan Tudyk as a wannabe pirate in this tickled me because my strongest impression of him is from Firefly and its follow-up movie,in which he plays a space pirate.
@@Caseytify Some people complained about the anachronisms of that movie. They were just funny. I enjoyed it, but it was Firefly that started me watching for Alan Tudyk and the rest of the cast.

I didn't first see this film until July 28 of 2010, just over a month before I started 7th grade, at a (temporarily relocated) summer camp. Especially back then, I mainly enjoyed it because it was a sports comedy or drama, and didn't realize how many innuendos were in it at first. In retrospect, I do credit this movie for helping me rediscover that there is entertainment value even in simply watching sports as a whole. Admittedly though, I was expecting a reaction to the scene where Steve the Pirate accidentally hits a popcorn vendor in the audience while playing the "Lumberjacks" in the second round of the tournament. Or where Owen Dittman meets Fran in the bar the night before the final, and when White starts raging at the referee over the court misconduct and "Double Fault" rulings.
This is one of those occasions when your reactions were as funny as the movie. Well done! Fun fact: the girl lawyer in the movie is Ben Stiller’s wife in real life.
Chuck Norris was in the military and learned Karate and then won a lot of championships. Then he transfered to being an actor and was the final boss in a Bruce Lee movie, and at some point he got bitten by a venomous snake and after 6 agonizing days the snake finally died. That's how the legend started.
Ye, I never seen and might have heard of it before but for me Vince Vaughn was hardly ever funny, at least he's not as bad as Will Ferrell, so thanks for filling up that blank with your reaction! Ben Stiller on the other hand made some great comedies during that time period & was right behind Jim Carrey (and both behind Robin Williams ofc). My personal Ben Stiller favourite is 'There's Something About Mary' from 98!
lol Chuck Norris definitely was in a ton of movies - old action movies where the logic's fubar and Chuck can't act worth a damn but many people enjoyed them for its dumb action - not the kind of movies I'd recommend, but it makes a lot of sense why he got that almost James Bond-like aura of "untouchable by bullets; god among men" sorta vibe
I did learn something ! I learned that I ~cannot~ believe Scotland's national animal is the unicorn. WHAT THE ..that's sooo frikken wacky lol. Thanks for the fun fact and this reaction! 😊 Btw Dodgeball is hilarious so don't worry, you haven't lost it entirely. Yet.
Justin Long, Alan Tudyk and Christine Taylor are all pretty big names. I'm rather surprised you caught both Hasselhoff and Norris but didn't know any one of them. Justin was in like every high-school movie ever for a while (atleast it felt that way) Two of my favorite Justin Long movies *Accepted* and *Die Hard 4.0.* *Waiting* is also hilarious. I also love *Idiocracy* but he just small side character in that one so I doesn't really count. Alan has some of my favorite character portraits in cinema. Playing Watts in *A Knights Tale* was when I first found him and he hasn't disappointed since. This movie is also a fantastic role for him. Christine is sometimes a bit type-casted and her biggest hits are "Ben Stiller style" like *Zoolander, Tropic Thunder, The wedding singer* etc but she have some other very well known titles under her belt like *The Croft.* Aside from that she's been on like half of all the Sit-Com or daytime drama ever. From Dallas to Friends and from American Dad to iCarly.

This film has one of my top comedy line exchanges of all time: "It looks like Average Joe's will be forfeiting." "That's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for 'em!" Delivered perfectly.
People quoting it usually miss the fact that the strategy actually did pay off for 'em. Myself included.
So many quotable lines in here. I use Bold strategy and "nobody makes me bleed my own blood. NOBODY!" a lot.
Usually you have to pay extra for that kind of action Cotten. LMAO
Jason Bateman Improvised all of his lines for those scenes as well.
I sure do like pumpkins

And yes, Chuck Norris was in movies, even in a Bruce Lee movie. However, he might be most famous for his Walker Texas Ranger movie/tv-series
Oooh zoolander is on the list but I had no idea what it was! Haha Chuck Norris I’ll maybe have to check out his movies too 😁
He was part of the 80’s american kickboxing craze turned actor.
Third of all, the craze were specifically started by kung fu in the 70s and then karate in the 80s, there was no kickboxing craze, even though there was an amazing kickboxing movie by Jean-Claude Van Damme in 1989
@@Songfugel You’re insanely stupid. Do stfu and go ask your adult/guardian why they haven’t guided you well enough in life to interact with adults.
But it did surprise me by being really good
I like that Friends is where you know Hank Azaria from. 😂
The science guy 😁
I know him from The Simpsons and Godzilla
This movie is a hidden gem, mainly for Patrick Bateman (the goofy announcer). He was a child actor that vanished when he became an adult, then showed up in Arrested Development. He's since really come into his own in a wide range, but he excels at oddball comedy.
Another good Ben Stiller movie that was silly like this is Mystery Men.
The scary woman on the Cobras is Missy Pyle, who you've probably seen a lot, but never with the same face. She was also the female alien in Galaxy Quest.
"Purple cobra" is roughly the same as "bell end."
The pep talk scene at the bar did not age well.
No reason to question this one, that’s for sure. It’s a great movie
Great reaction as always Dawn Marie. I remember watching this movie for the first time and I thought it was really funny so you're not wrong. Seems as if we have similar sense of humor. You might want to check out one of my favorites. "Tommy boy"
Great choice
16:19 that’s Lance Armstrong and he really did have cancer and he did win the Tour de France 5 times….with the help of steroids.
Good to see a fellow Scot as the best reactor on here 🏴😁
It WAS a good one. I'm glad you liked it! You picked a real winner! I'm glad that you gave it a chance
"The Watch" would be a great follow-up to this!
Dawn: "I'm so white today"
Me (trying to be supportive): "It's okay to be white"
::Lynch mob loses its mind::
Thank you Dawn Marie for this fun reaction video, and for telling us that the Unicorn is the national animal of Scotland!
Not to mention his work in A Knight's Tale.
@@Caseytify Some people complained about the anachronisms of that movie. They were just funny. I enjoyed it, but it was Firefly that started me watching for Alan Tudyk and the rest of the cast.
Wonderful reaction!! Please do the following: 'Apollo 13 - 1995', 'Apollo 18 - 2011', 'Batman - 1989', 'Batman Returns - 1992', 'Below - 2002', 'Enemy Of The State - 1998', 'Equilibrium - 2002', 'Predator - 1987', 'Taken - 2008', 'The X-Files: Fight The Future - 1999'.
Hi Dawn. If you started a dodgeball team, what would the team name be?
Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris is an American martial artist and actor. He is a black belt in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu jitsu and judo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Norris

Excellent movie!!!
Watch Vince Vaughn in Couples Retreat. That's hilarious.
Chuck Norris was in the military and learned Karate and then won a lot of championships. Then he transfered to being an actor and was the final boss in a Bruce Lee movie, and at some point he got bitten by a venomous snake and after 6 agonizing days the snake finally died. That's how the legend started.
If you like Unicorns you should see Legend. That is, if you haven't already seen it. Lone Wolf McQuade (1983) is a really good Chuck Norris movie.
If you want another great comedy with Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, and Jack Black check out Tropic Thunder.
Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are actually married.
Were
Oh! Never knew 🤷🏼♀️
@@DawnMarieX Not anymore.
@@williamjordan5554 didn't know that.
@@DawnMarieX they also share the screen in Zoolander.
I did learn something ! I learned that I ~cannot~ believe Scotland's national animal is the unicorn. WHAT THE ..that's sooo frikken wacky lol. Thanks for the fun fact and this reaction! 😊
Btw Dodgeball is hilarious so don't worry, you haven't lost it entirely. Yet.
Good times glad you liked it whips and chains anytime didn't know that about Scotland
19:41 that’s William Shatner of Star Trek fame.
Justin Long, Alan Tudyk and Christine Taylor are all pretty big names.
I'm rather surprised you caught both Hasselhoff and Norris but didn't know any one of them.
Justin was in like every high-school movie ever for a while (atleast it felt that way)
Two of my favorite Justin Long movies *Accepted* and *Die Hard 4.0.*
*Waiting* is also hilarious.
I also love *Idiocracy* but he just small side character in that one so I doesn't really count.
Alan has some of my favorite character portraits in cinema.
Playing Watts in *A Knights Tale* was when I first found him and he hasn't disappointed since.
This movie is also a fantastic role for him.
Christine is sometimes a bit type-casted and her biggest hits are "Ben Stiller style" like *Zoolander, Tropic Thunder, The wedding singer* etc but she have some other very well known titles under her belt like *The Croft.*
Aside from that she's been on like half of all the Sit-Com or daytime drama ever.
From Dallas to Friends and from American Dad to iCarly.
Correction, Alan Tudyks character in a Knights Tale is *Wat* not Watts.
Me mixing up my medieval movies and my Star Wars Movies 😑
If you haven't seen Tropical Thunder, I'm pretty sure you will find it quite hilarious. Thanks for another excellent reaction.
Tropic Thunder
Yes to Tropic Thunder!
Wellcome back Queen 👑😇🙌🏻 Happy Friday!!!! So glad you enjoy this new classic 😁 is a great film full of silly jokes!!! hugs lysssm and keep having fun Dawn Marie💗
