  • Hi everyone and welcome to the first episode of The Spinning Chronicles! I have had so much amazing feedback from sharing snippets of new spinning jouney and many of you have said that you would love to see it in more detail. This isn't a lesson as such but more of a Vlog of my own personal journey with spinning, but I am sure you will pick up some tips along the way! If you have tips for me, then I would absolutely love to read them in the comments!
    My fibre was purchased from Wonderful Woof on Etsy and my wheel is an Ashford Kiwi 3 which I purchasd from The Threshing Barn.
    I have started adding Art Batts in my Etsy Shop for all of you budding spinners out there! www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Craftand...

    Doing great for someone new to spinning, don’t worry about the tech names you will pick them up. Try off setting the knot on your leader so you have a loop that you can re use without having to keep cutting it,are you going to wonderwool at the end of the month it’s a fantastic show, you can wind you yarn around your hand and a finger in a figure of eight, to create a way of plying the ends off the bobbins it creates a wrist hank that you can use both ends from look for Andean plying in the web for the instructions

    • @eddavanleemputten9232
      @eddavanleemputten9232 Месяц назад +1

      @@CraftandaCuppa - Jillian Eve is brilliant. If you like a different vibe but also highly enjoyable spinning content, you might consider Mijn Wolden. Jente will often include what she makes out of the yarn she spins, which is great. I also enjoy Becca Lewis, and BF Fibre Arts. A lot of others as well, but those came to mind next to Jillian Eve.
      I love it that for a newbie spinner (less than a year) there is plenty of spinning content on RUclips.
      Happy spinning!
      Edit: what I do to reduce the drying time, depending on my mood, how large the skein is, and how delicate the fibre I spun, is:
      1. Wrap in a towel and literally STAND on the towel ‘sausage’ containing the skein. As there is no wringing or agitation, the pressure isn’t an issue.
      2. Use the salad wringer method. Thrift shops are great sources for salad wringers for really cheap.
      I spin lace weight yarn, which is said to be extremely delicate. No issues. I’ve spun alpaca which is reputed to felt really easily. No issues.
      For ‘extreme speed setting’ without thwacking, I shock the life out of it by using two different temperatures of water. One is nice and warm, one is really cold. Soak the skein in warm water for the usual 15 minutes. Gently squeeze out the water. Dump the skein in really cold water and submerge it for minute or two. Remove, squeeze out excess, then use a towel. Hang to dry. This also works really well if you want to set singles.
