  • Wicked, gusty, blasting analog sounds ...I don't care that it's analog "MODELING", to me it sounds analog, it acts analog, so it might as well BE analog. Not many instruments will give you such gritty electric malleability :)

The EA-1 was my first synth about twenty years ago, and this video was such a fun trip down memory lane! I only have analog synths now, and this definitely sounds digital to me, but it also sounds great in its own way. Thanks for taking the time to share some cool sounds!

It's a pleasure, David. I thought it sounded analog at the time but I've kind of wised up now haha... Still a fun unit though, and there's nothing wrong with that :)

only thing to know is you got 2 differents synth part on this EA1, thats all.
Yeah the sound is horroful most of the time ^^^. :D
And yes the legendary korg delay filter with depth and time is awesome.

Two things I'd change with it ; ADSR control , maybe volca sized knobs and I can't remember if you can use both chorus and delay at the same time . ES-1 was great for that , separate delay . EA-1 definitely pumped out some great sounds though

Yeah, I have the other two original Electribes, the ER-1 and ES-1, both great in their own way, and very usable in electronic/EDM/IDM mixes. The ER-1 is close enough to the 808/909 sound to work for that style, but has it’s own character. It’s fun to sync these machines up and go on a (virtual) analog tweaking electro-venture. The EA-1 is tempting to complete the set (but I do have a few synths and grooveboxes already, so…)

These are wicked good. You'll want to keep this one for the duration, I reckon. The filter sound on this is as aggressive and full of character as any classic "real analog" synth I've heard.
For nearly endless fun put one of these into a convolution reverb.

    • @gearfacts

I totally disagree about it sounding analog. It's one of the most obviously digital sounding synths out there. It sounds harsh, cold and digitally dirty, and the stepping is so obvious when you turn the encoders. I'm not saying that it's a bad piece of gear, but people seem to use the catchphrase "analog" without knowing what it actually means.

    • @gearfacts
