    Haven't seen this one in a while. But for some reason, it reminds me of Gershwin; couldn't possibly explain why. I still think the hat is uber-cute.

    It definitely sounds like it should be a short first beat polska, and the fact it's from Dalarna makes me even more convinced it should be. Timing is definitely 2 2 2 3.

    We added a new tune on RUclips the same day. My daughter and I were very happy to hear a new tune. Really nice tune!!! When you play this instrument it feels Scandinavian even when you play Irish Tunes.

    Fun tune indeed! Thanks for sharing/teaching it to us. Reminds me a bit of the folk tunes I used to play when I lived in Greece... Also, I'm not sure what I'm more excited about at this point, playing the tune, or harmonically improvising over it.

      ... Both ? ;) Perhaps learning the tune first and then going crazy on the impro ?

    • @locutuspicard1
      @locutuspicard1 3 года назад

      @@EmelieWaldken Probably, yes. Now I really wish I had my violins with me... This tune probably wouldn't work too well on harpsichord.

    Oh dear... I have danced a lot of Balkan dances in the past and I am getting more into Balfolk and Swedish now... but this tune triggers both! Dance-wise they are not very compatible. Especially in the A part, my brain goes: "Ah... yes I know what this will be like" and starts up the "weird-balkan-rithm mode" but then the phrase ends quintessentially Swedish... It is a great tune, especially when played fast... Merging those subtly different folkloric vibes into a joyful whole, very impressive... I'll have to learn it now... Thank you!

      Oh that message makes me so happy !! It's great that you can feel this merging of the two styles. Let me know how it goes for you to play the tune !

      @@EmelieWaldken I've tried already but rather unsuccessfully so far... The G# in the A part is very tricky/uncomfortable on my diatonic accordion... I'll get there, but will take some time ;-)

    That a contemporary Swedish polska can be inspired by Balkan music isn't weird to me.

    This kind od folk music we call in Poland- Mazurek. . I cant express how Polish it sounds and it is not the first time, when swedish music sounds very familar to me as a Pole. You should check a Polish folk band Kapela Maliszów. You will be suprised. And we spelld word Poland - Polska- in Polish language.

      There are MANY ties between Swedish and Polish folk music - the famous Swedish polska is inherited from 1600s Polish music. I'm myself researching the links between Swedish style vals and kujawiak =)

    Hej, jag har alltid drömt om att lära mig att spela lyckelharpa men har lite problem med att hitta en och vart man ska börja.

      Finns att köpa på blocken men även nya på nyckelharps verkstan i Söderhamn. Borde även finnas nybörjar böcker på nätet "lär dig spela nyckelharpa".

      Kolla i Facebook-gruppen "Folkmusik köp och sälj", det kommer nyckelharpor att köpa ganska ofta ;)

    How much does a Nyckelharpa costs?

    • @EmelieWaldken
      @EmelieWaldken  3 года назад +1

      Depends on the quality ! I generally advise people to aim for 2000 to 3500 € for a medium-high quality nyckelharpa. Then one can be lucky and find a decent one for 1000 €, and there are also high-end models for over 8000 €.
